Apok_
This is my first time posting here, though I have lurked for a few months. I wated to see what you all thought of my WIP librarian and his Familiar geek just to see what you guys thought I could improve on. The peeps over at the e-gate helped alot with this. I thought another set of eyes would be good. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h140/_Apok/IIApokSF-1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h140/_Apok/IIApokRF-1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h140/_Apok/IIApokLF-1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h140/_Apok/IIApokFF-1.jpg Geek isn't done yet. I still need to find him a decent pair of arms and highlight him. Apok is pretty much done unless you all find some major flaw with him. Now before you get all upitty yes I did gank the idea from Commander Y. Sorry dood I was halfway through the army before i thought of asking. I could'nt resist the idea of using tau parts on space marines. they looked way to cool not to give them a try. So anyways. Let me know what you all think. -Apok Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/ Share on other sites

NG-Griffin
I think that the modelling and painting are awesome. :P The only criticism/suggestion that I have is the bases. I think that they would benefit from some finer sand/grit and some shading/highlighting. Great work - can't wait to see more. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1037810 Share on other sites
-Q-
I don't know what you stole about this from the Commander but don't worry about it. We all share ideas in this hobby and that's how we grow. If every idea could only be done once we'd have a bunch of boring Marines. Jansuh
Heresy! How dare you to desecrate our beloved symbol like that! :D j/k. Looks pretty nice. BLACK BLΠFLY
The blue looks awesome but I am definitely not digging the Tau bits... just does not work for me. NG-Griffin
The blue looks awesome but I am definitely not digging the Tau bits... just does not work for me. I like the Tau bits. I think that they make the marines look more high-tech and sleek rather than lumbering and awkward. Kinda like a Mazda RX8 vs. a Volvo Station Wagon. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1037912 Share on other sites
SharderBlade
Yeah the tau bits, especially with the birdy head, make him look more like a futuristic night as aposed to a mini tank. Great color scheme, when I try to do blue and black it looks "bruised," but you did it great. Apok_
Thanks peeps. I appreciate the comments. I could'nt resist the tau bits. Other DIY chapter had their HQs and some of their marines were all gothed out. I wanted to go the completly opposite way. I like sleek and new as opposed to old and gothic. I shaved off all the purity seals from my TAPs (Tactical Armor Pilots since they are just storm troopers piloting heavily modified powered armor.) and left only the chest eagles to denote their allegiance to the imperium. Just to mess with people I left the Tau emblems. They represent that they had stolen the tech from the tau and their utter disdain for the adepts of mars. I could go on but it's boring. I need your comments once again. I am trying to decide whether to paint the normal TAPs helments blue or leave them black. This squad still has some work to be done to it. I need to highlight and clean up. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h140/_Ap...ommandSquad.jpg I will see what I can do with the bases. I have never really attempted to highlight and shade stone. It's meant to be rubble. Maybe if I put some broken peices of building they will look ok. Anyways thanks again. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1038026 Share on other sites
Angelos
Cool, like the use of all the Tau bits, cept the ones on the head, and when u linked tyhe command squad I was loving those bolters I think, is that just somw tubing?, looks great :D Another thing is that the color scheme of your army takes away from the libarain feel of your marine, look more like a commander of hi-tech sorts, in this case you should add a psy hood , or a horned skull/ book in places Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1038028 Share on other sites
Legacy40k
I'm liking it, except for the fact that you wasted a stealth suit to do it! I also agree that the head antenna are a bit over the top. -Legacy40k Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1038045 Share on other sites
alroachy
I think the use of Tau bits is fantastic. This model has a unique look but retains the overall flavor of 40k. To me, that is the best type of custom modeling. Well done. NG-Griffin
I will see what I can do with the bases. I have never really attempted to highlight and shade stone. What I do: 1. Mix some sand and gravel into a cheap acrylic hobby paint and then I use a cheap, dollar-store brush to paint it onto the base. 2. While it's still wet, I sprinkle another layer of coloured aggregate onto the wet paint for some colour variation. 3. Once that's all dry I glue miscellaneous rubble or shubbery onto the base to finish it off. AkiraCho
i agree with most of the people here, the tau super high tech stuff doesnt match too well with the marines kinda rag tag equipment, where they are big and bulky but efficient. tau are just soo sleek. Yamez
the only thing I don't realy like is the stealth suit backpack, it looks kinda out of place to me. other than thet, great job! thebigtea
Not a big fan of the head of the Marine, but the rest of the parts look pretty cool to me. What I do love is your color scheme...it is the EXACT same as mine  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90212-warp-guard-librarian/#findComment-1038384 Share on other sites
