Commander Trask
scour your local charity shops for old jewlery. Most hobby shops should sell the chain you want too. I would say try a hardware stroe but sometimes they can be un predictable with the sizes of chains Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90466-small-chains/#findComment-1040792 Share on other sites

FireLizard
Hobby shop / model ship building chain can be procy depending on ho wmuch you use... Â Try going to your local "all in one" store (US folks read: walmart), and go to their jewelry section. The teen girls section that has all the cheap necklaces? yeah.. I got a BUNCH for like 2 bucks there. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90466-small-chains/#findComment-1041149 Share on other sites
-Q-
Like everyone says, Hobby Shop that does model trains but even better if they do *Boats*. There's a lot of great bitz that they historic ship modelers have available. Â My real contribution to the thread: Don't look through the store for them. Hobby Shops are generally an arcane mess. Just ask the clerk first thing. In the shop I found mine they were actually up on a shelf, in a random cardboard box, behind the counter ;) They're usually only a couple of dollars per package with several feet worth of chain. You will be using like 5-10 link segments on Marines and max a few inches on tanks. Buy the size you think you need and then a size bigger and smaller. I find that when I'm at a store I forget how incredibly small Marines are and end up buying conversion bitz too big :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90466-small-chains/#findComment-1041362 Share on other sites
Akrim
The hell with model shops and jewelers, go down to the nearest dollar store or similar (Dollarama, Buck or Two, or Ardenes), you can buy tonnes of fine chain for cheap in packages of necklaces or dangly earrings. -Q-
Well the problem is that jewelry looks like jewelry. Model chain looks like the sort of good utilitarian straight link chain you'd expect Marines to use. I've seen a lot of nice characters ruined with a twisted link necklace chain holding up a crude skull or icon... it just doesn't work and breaks the scale by bringing a recognizable normal scale object into the scene. If you want the best from your conversions take the time to find proper chain.
