Is there a market for Beakies?

Recommended Posts

So ... I bought these Space Marines on ebay. The picture wasn't clear and the descript just said they were space marines painted in Chaos colors and that quite a few were in bad shape.

Lo and Behold I have 40some olllld school beaked space marines with, for the most part, crummy paint jobs. Are there people out there who specifically want these figs? I've got the busted ones on deck for chaos conversion/bitz fodder, but there are still a solid two dozen or so that just need some paint removed.

Strip them, and prime them black.

It's amazing how bad paint can make a viable figure look like crap; some smooth, black primer really helps.

Without making this an advertisement, I can tell you that there are quite a few people who would like to acquire beakies for sentimental reasons alone. Another batch of people would love them for pre-heresy armies. A third bunch might jsut want unique models for veterans, and the twig-beak marines fit the bill.

Cool, thanks :P

Any advice on what to use to strip them? I've heard a few different methods, but I figured acetone was worth a shot.

As said strip them :)

Several topics have been made on the subject of model stripping, the FAQ deals with it aswell.

This one talks about different methods in length

I would say oven cleaner is the best and easiest way. Simply spray, let sit for 30 minutes. Than scrub away with a toothbrush, when you're done, or no more paint is coming off, rinse in warm water. You'll probably need to do it twice to get it at a good level, but honestly, it's the best way.

I like beakies - i'm currently building an old fashioned, all Corvus armoured squad for my dark angels.

Some more beakies will make mission markers for them - painted black, of course :D

Thinking about it, nearly every player of Fallen will look for beakies...
