Scar Weaver
Hey fellas, This is my first attempt at Death Watch. Always thought they were cool and now I'm painting up a kill team. Don't think it's a bad first attempt. He's my Captain. I used Iron Hands legs and then added some extra panels of armor. Thought it would be a good touch. Lemme know what you guys think. C & C welcome. Grimdarkness
It looks good the only thing i'd suggest is maybe a red or white knee pad to break up all that black and give him some colour. Ardus
Not bad. 2 things you need to do though. Make the highlights narrower or blend them with the black; add some watered down black/ brown ink with dish soap on all the metal (silver parts) then rehighlight the silver. This will add depth. Scar Weaver
Is blending the best way to do highlights on black? Anyone got any suggestions on how to handle this? zbo
Well this is how I'm painting black at the moment. Firslty paint Chaos Black all over, then paint Chaos Black and Shadow Grey 4:1 over all the armour not in the recses. Then paint Codex grey highlights, wash with black ink, then paint thiner codex grey highlights. Wash black ink again. Then do some final highlights in fortress grey wash with black ink and ta far  Also I think that you should Water down your paint a little as it looks thick. The pose is very cool ;) ~zbo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/90762-capt-roth/#findComment-1044621 Share on other sites
