any ideas on how to improve these? i'm not very good at sculpting so no greenstuff (apart from plugging gaps) any ideas of making them even more chaosie

Im really liking these perry, the combi bolters and use of tactical marine chestplates especially. To improve them id suggest filling in the edges of the front chestplate where it meets the back plate; the space where a tactical marines arms would go if that makes sense. Also clean up those mould lines! :)

I havt really got the time to chop apart legs to make more interesting poses, just something i can live without really though it would be nice to have more "in motion" lookin legs

about the torsos, I got the idea from people posting their loyalist terminators with the blacktemplairs powerarmor tabbard torso, desided it would be a great shortcut to just use CSM powerarmor torsos to make the termie armor look more chaosie and old style

was a simple case of filing and chopping bits off untill i got them to fit, though a word of warning it was harder to fit the heads into the hole after I'd finished glueing the torso together

about the puritie seals.... their Word Bearers! of corse they'll have bits of chaotic scripture pined to their armor, plus it fills up bare spaces saving me from having to do sculpting

knowing my luck after i finish these buggers forgeworld will anounce chaos upgrade bits for terminators

Sods law

I'v just begun constructing an aspiring champ to lead them, i went all out and gave him twin lightning claws and just for the coolness gave him that skull head that everyone uses for their chaplain conversions

the rest of the termies i have yet to make will have normal terminator helmuts on but with added spikes and mabey a tusk or a horn

for the ones I'v made so far I'll most likly add a few horns comming out various bits of armor and more purity seals as I'v got a few left over from old marine kits.

going to be busy on my day of work tomorrow :(

I think they're really well done and plenty Chaosy. You really want to focus on the icons of a Chapter/Legion for your conversions. Every Marine will look good with another Eagle and every Traitor with a spike or horn (or spikey horn!) but GW really does a fine job of basically spelling out "for ChapterX add DetailY". In this case it's the parchment and script.

I'd go with Joker for the easiest way to bring them character. Don't let script scare you, just do a row of the smallest dots you can manage. The different sizes and translucencies of the touches will create a good full text look from a distance.

The purity/impurity seal strips are actually really easy to do with Greenstuff, at the very least try to make one when you work on your gap filling. At the lowest level you can add a strip by rolling a thin length, sticking it on, (wet your tool) flatten it out, stab at the edges, push in a tiny dent at top to show how it's 'nailed' in. On a perfect model they shouldn't have straight edges and they shouldn't have even thicknesses, so you might find that you enjoy doing them. Just remember how they'll look painted up and don't obsess on perfection. Put them on areas where you don't have to worry about how they'd flow in the wind or flip and flop over gear.

Alternately, find a friend that plays Tomb Kings and use the extra banner ribbons they have. They're really long so one can be cut up and used on several of your Marines. Use your Marine purity seals with the wax seal shaved down or cut off. Use strips of plasticard or strip, cut at the edges or hack with your angled file to create rough-cut edges.

Can't wait to see the rest!

Usually though impurity seals look different. (metal spike instead of wax seal, long and with torn edges...)

What about filing (or shaving...) the seal part so it's flat, paint it gold (or silver) and put a chaos star on it?

from memory the chaos terminators heads are seperate aren't they so you could mail order a few of these to get some helmetted (and non-helmetted) heads for some extra variation. similarly you could use the chaos terminator arms to add some more variety to the plastic termies as i think they scale reasonably well (have seen some conversions on the us home page for GW - linkage)
