I Need help with a Pre - Heresy Dread Torso

Recommended Posts

Ok guys here is the deal. I want to make a Pre - Hereasy Dreadnought, based on the Sabretooth CCG artwork, and not the Forgeworld style.

oes anyone have any suggestions on how I could achieve the torso shape ? are there any parts you could suggest (GW or domestic, anything really !)

Thanks in advance

I have just finished a CCG style (though not a 100% copy) dread..but i used parts from 1/20 Nitto S.F.3.D. kits from the 80's...one way you might go is to use pink insulation foam and carve it to shape...I personally wasnt concerned with accuarcy and now mine only sorta' resembles the CCG Dread... I'll be posting Pics later on today or tomorrow
I seem to remember seeing one using the Inquisitor tyrus torso from Inquisitor, it should be big enough because its inquisitor scale, have a search through the Post your Dread thread, should be one using it in there I think, I'll have a looksie
I have a load of those old Epic PH-style dreads which are quite detailed models, want me to take a few pics of one for you?

that sound slike a plan Fire Hawk.. would be nice to see them cos i think it could be inspirational for a few people

I too would like to see pics of those Firehawk. I've been planning on building a pre heresy dread or two based on the CCG artwork.

Commander Biguss Brutus is this the one you were thinking of.

I built this for my Paladins army ( which I have'nt spent much time on lately).

Got a few pics done before my camera battery ran out (I had seconds of battery life literally), that and the fact they are so small is why they are of rubbish quality. :(

I believe that the main body of the Dread above is in fact from the Inquisitor Lord Karamazov's Throne of Judgement from the Witch Hunters range.

While this one I believe uses the INQ range Tyrus body (well at the very least the shoulder armour and neck guard), like the Dreadnought in the post above.

also in the 'how to paint space marines' book check the Ultra marine army in the back, there is an awsome pre-heresy style dread in there!

Actually, I believe it's in the current Space Marines collector's guide, if I recall correctly...

yup.. ultras dread with a rather interesting take on the smurf's too...

You could remove the shoulder pads from the forgeworld dread and use the torso as a starting point. With the exception of the head the torso is one solid piece unlike the plastic version.

Blindhamster: That's pretty weird because in my version it's only got the plastic version with the shield on the shoulder pad. Are there any pictures of it floating around online?
