Brother Djibril
I've finally managed to paint up my Frost Hands commander. I'm relatively pleased with how he came out, but any suggestions before I put snow on the base and matte varnish on the model would be greatly appreciate. T14
I am loving the crusade armor chest plate. GS? the hammer shaft seems slightly crooked, but apart from that he looks great :tu: cheers -t14 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91055-frost-hands-commander-wip/#findComment-1046730 Share on other sites
Azazal
He looks really great, only thing I would do is add in a touch of dark blue shading for the line in the hammer head. From the looks right now, it's kind of lost. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91055-frost-hands-commander-wip/#findComment-1046740 Share on other sites
Starks333
neat conversion, not enough depth in the blue armour or the white, the black also seems plain maybe add a couple washes to the metal to give it a nicer feel, or highlight then wash try and get more contrast in the hammer, a bit darker blue, and even some slices of white right now hes interesting but very plain looking, maybe add some colour to him, the wires or hammer handle for example Starks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91055-frost-hands-commander-wip/#findComment-1046748 Share on other sites
Gyson_Vore
I like it, the blue on the hammer is nive, but too bright. Maybe drybrush a darker shade over it? Is there any background information on these guys? Brother Djibril
@templar14: the Mk. II torso is made from a normal Mk. VII torso with the chest eagle shaved off, the lower half carved out a bit and then filled in with GS to make the banding. The rivets are made with plastirod. @Gyson_Vore: The hammer is supposed to be an icy power weapon, so I was trying to get something of a glowing effect. Also, you can find the fluff I wrote for my chapter (admittedly a bit on the long side) here. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to tweak the model a bit when I get home from work. Kaldoth
Not enough detail IMO. He looks a bit plain. I think he would look better if you painted the cables and the lenses on his pistol and eye red. Other than that he looks good! And post a recipe for your blue! Its lurvely  -Kaldoth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91055-frost-hands-commander-wip/#findComment-1046982 Share on other sites
Capt. Kenaz
Love the bionics! Is that and IW warsmith body? How'd you do the hammer arms? Are those paper sclips and GS? Just wondering as I'm going to be undergoing some Adept. Mech. conversions in the near future...Thanks for any heads up. I love the pose, and the armor style is great! But, I think he needs either some higlights, or maybe some ink washes for depth. Just something to better differentiate the different armor plates and different colors in your scheme...make the blues darker at the recesses, highlight the lighter colors on their edges...etc. Overall great pose and well in character! Brother Djibril
@Kaldoth: I'm trying to keep a very limited pallette for this army, so blue, white, black and metal are what I have to work with. Other colors might make it pop more, but I want to stick with the ice theme. @Capt. Kenaz: The legs are from the Iron Warriors Warsmith. The hammer arm is made from different sizes of plastirod. I found that one size could be drilled out and another size would fit inside it. Makes for good push rods in bionic arms.
