SCC
Hmm, maybe the ones by Migsula or Kousa then? Although again, I think they're conversions rather than scratchbuilds B) Migsula's Crescent Guard More Migsula pics... Kousa's scarily large berzerkers Is it either of those? Yuri
Or perhaps my marines? Regrettably this is the only picture I could find as of now. I'll try to find the rest, if these are indeed the ones you were searching for. http://www.kolumbus.fi/jyri.jernstrom/Captain0105.jpg Oh, and I must add that the project has taken another step and I seven 3rd generation marines on my desk waiting ro be finished. -Jyri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1050231 Share on other sites

Yuri, yours looks great too, but if I recall, it's pretty much scratch built, which is far less practicle. -Legacy40k Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1050461 Share on other sites

Legacy40k
fantastic, thats sick. Is that a blood raven? Well, From what I recall... Yuri's marines are scratch built.. and they are painted brown.. not red, representing some made up chapter. -Legacy40k Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1051012 Share on other sites

Yuri
I'll write a more profound answer later, as I don't have access to my computer this week and can't post pictures to elaborate my "guide". The short version is that I have sculpted the most important parts and made molds of them. These I attach together to pose the marine and then sculpt all the details and most of the bulk. The cast parts are more like a rough template that I use to get the general shape for my marines. This leaves a lot of freedom to make each different and unique, but is of course a lot more time consuming than, say, Maelis's method. -Yuri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1051190 Share on other sites
PussleBerry
sso did u sculpt em outta green stuff then make a mold? or what. I appreicate the input and it would be amazing if when you get a chance that you could write up that tutorial. you'd be my hero Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1051454 Share on other sites
Yuri
I made masters out of Milliputty, cast them with the same putty and attached the parts together. Like so: http://www.kolumbus.fi/jyri.jernstrom/Palat.jpg----v http://www.kolumbus.fi/jyri.jernstrom/Group2.jpg (The head in the top picture is not my own sculpt, it's actually a shrunken IG sarge head. The captain's head however is my own.) http://www.kolumbus.fi/jyri.jernstrom/Heads2-01.jpg The parts always require quite a lot of touching up and of course all the detail has to be scuplted, as is apparent in the pictures. To avoid Inquisitorial inquiries, I'll forego explaining publicly how I cast the parts. ;) But I've sent you a PM explaining my methods in detail. -Yuri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1054570 Share on other sites

maelis
Thanks Yuri, your my hero. now i have to try it. Thanks :) Those were my thoughts when i started, and pretty much still are :D My method is very similar and very much influenced by Yuri's sculpts. The hardest part is just getting the right sizes on the parts. I'm currently running in mkIV or V, lost count. Filing is pretty much it for the main parts, real sculpting comes after that. Yuri
The hardest part is just getting the right sizes on the parts. I'm currently running in mkIV or V, lost count. Filing is pretty much it for the main parts, real sculpting comes after that. How true... I was about to write that the only piece I use unmodified is the leg grieve, but I then realized that I tweak it quite a bit with a file. :D I found it too troublesome to make perfect masters, so now I have devised a perfecting formula for each of the parts; a little bulking for the chest, a little filing on the grieves, etc. Really saves time and effort. It's a pleasure to see that your project is bearing such ripe fruit, Maelis. I hope you stick to that deadline of yours. Only three months to go! ;) -Yuri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91084-making-bigger-marines-tutorial/#findComment-1055027 Share on other sites
