Ebolahond
Hi Guys, i have had some spare time and I have used it to start a new army. With the Medusa V capaign and the new cityfight stuff in mind i chose my new army to be that of the Black templars. With substantial IW, Tau and Kroot mercenary forces already done i felt i wasnt a good GW hobby dude if i wasnt to have a loyalist SM army. I really liked the new dark and knightly image of the BT so i chose them. Aslo their 15 men squads are very usefull in cityfights. Normally i am the type of guy that buys a whole army and then assembles them in one go. This time i have restrained myself and started with the purchase of only one BT squad and a razorback. In my army i will give all!! guys robes. This means i will have to sculpt some and that i will be ordering a lot of BT sprues as there are only 3 on one sprue. The scouts/neophytes will be getting robes as well. I will also have to find new heads for them as the plastic ones look like a bad Arnold swartzenegger rip-off. another thnig that caught my eye on some of the Bt art was that the marines had rims on their armor. I had a look through my bitbox and came up with two chaos legs that have rims on their armor. When you remove the arrows the legs look very arcane but i think a simple pic shows better what i mean. http://high5.net/pr/ebolahond/bt_razor_squad.jpg another thing i used from the forces of chaos were the bolter arms. These arms have a very cool gaunlet look which i beleiev fits the BT nicely. The pic below shows the assembled BT with some new GW building rubble. I will be using this place to keep u guys updated. C and C is as always welcome. cheers TJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91191-using-the-forces-of-chaos-for-bt/ Share on other sites
Chaplain Odin
Looks great so far! :) Chaos parts really do seem to fit with the Black Templar feel. Especially the new models, with their fancy tabards and weapons chained to them. I look forward to seeing the rest of the squad painted up. Keep us updated! By the way, what head is that on the painted guy? I can't quite make it out. Is it from the Black Templar sprue? Ebolahond
yeah thats on the BT sprue. I just painted the rim on it. Somehow it breaks the black a bit. i also added some GS but just small templar crosses and some other hieraldry. Jokersminis
I am a big fan of the Khorne torsos on loyalist marines, and the CSM Arms look good as well. Chain_Axe
I love the look and feel of your templar.. The outline you have set for the army sounds amazing! Any ideas as to what the army will consist of? Just a quick question.. why do they have a sargent? <_< I thought templar didnt do sargetns? Brother Renn
Just a quick question.. why do they have a sargent? <_< I thought templar didnt do sargetns? Black Templars do not have Sgts, true, but they do have the option of equipping one of the members of the unit with a bp/power weapon or bp/power fist. I believe that they can also upgrade one of the bolt pistols to the plasma pistol. I would imagine that is what that model represents. Primarch16
They look great, the majority of my army has tabards and robes (got the big boxed set right at the start, they sent me like 6/7 BT sprues <_<) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91191-using-the-forces-of-chaos-for-bt/#findComment-1048723 Share on other sites
Badaab
I will also have to find new heads for them as the plastic ones look like a bad Arnold swartzenegger rip-off. Actually, I think they look more than a little like Wayne Rooney. Warning, not a board-related link. Oh, and good luck with your army, I'll be keeping tabs on the replacement heads you choose for the Neophytes, as I have a couple of squads of plastic scouts without heads as well for the above reason... Oh, and I cannot have Wayne Rooneys in my force. Now, if they looked like Thierry Henry, I'd be okay with that. -Joe Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91191-using-the-forces-of-chaos-for-bt/#findComment-1048747 Share on other sites
PsychosisPC
I did quite a bit of that using chaos pieces for my Cerulean Templars, even mixed in some of the old chaos warrior legs. The chaos torsos, pads and legs all have a bit more flair to them. All the troops http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/Psy...lars/Squad3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/Psy...lars/Squad4.jpg Good stuff Ebola, keep it up. Ebolahond
hi guys hows life? i have been a bit quiet lately but i have not been idle. Although my interest have been drawn away a bit towards small hooded greenskins (gobbla is awesome) i have to say i have been working with some more GS. first off here are some pics http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/ebolahond/assmarine2.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/ebolahond/assmarine1.jpg they are some test models for posing more dynamic marines. i am happy with the green on the cloak (stupid plastic cloaks only wave to the right, so i can only use them with one of the beserker running legs) i want to put the marine with the GS on a steeper angle down as i feel he is stepping up instead of foreward. But the rest of the pose i like. what do you guys think? oh and i ordered 5 bretonian sprues just to get the shields that i used on the shoulder pad. It will be attached with some chains and stuff. cheers TJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91191-using-the-forces-of-chaos-for-bt/#findComment-1112925 Share on other sites
FireHawk
IMHO, the second guy (GS marine), has a sort of strange unrealistic leg pose, the rest is great, but the legs dont seem right. Are you trying to get him to look as if his foot on the rock is stationary, but his other foot is stepping off the ground to land next to the foot on the rock? If so the marine would probably be more angled back, because at his current angle (slightly forward) would become unbalanced as he lifted his foot off the ground. Perhaps try to copy the pose you want for the marine yourself, that way you can tell what is realistic and what would be unbalanced? The shields would look great with some raised detail or patterning, maybe give the odd chainsword a longer handle or decorative hilt or cross guard thing to help show the mix and matched nature of the BTs equipment? Also you could try doing a few of those shoulder pads that look like they have layered plates on them (like right shoulder pad of the BT marine with the sword on the left of the helmetless BT on the BT codex cover) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91191-using-the-forces-of-chaos-for-bt/#findComment-1112931 Share on other sites
