New Paint Line

Recommended Posts

OK guys it looks like one of the banner ads at TTGN is infected so we removed the link and just posted the text on its own.

I recommend updating your virus checker and running a scan if you haven't after recently using that link.

**EDIT: We've had to remove the link to TableTopGamingNews as it looks like one of their banner ads is infected with a Trojan virus.

We are attempting to track this down but I have been unable to replicate the issue at all. We're unsure of where the source of the problem is but our local copy of IE has not been attacked to infected as we've been testing so without more details its difficult to say where this is coming from.

If anyone has any information about this can they PM me or email me

Thanks

Anyone who got hit by it, particularly those who reported the issue to the mods, please PM as much info as you can in regards to it to TGN so they can track down the issue. If your virus checker keeps a log it may be good to copy the log report to him.

We have done a full scan of our local and remote systems and not found any virus or trojans in our files.

We're still looking to see what the issue might be but I would suggest that anyone who had this problem should scan their own systems for spyware or trojans.

As well if you have had this issue can you PM me and tell me if you are using something other than the McAfee virus scanner? The problem might be that McAfee is over-reacting to a JavaScript error on the page in question.

Any information that people have (including virus scanner logs) would be very useful in trying to track this down.

Thanks

More info on this paint line today:

Looks like $18 for a box of 6 and they use the OLD Citadel/Coat D'arms style flip tops. Some of the best paint pots out there in most folks opinions.

The only thing I have against this is that they're marketing them as faction sets. One of my favorite things about 40k is the endless conversion possibilities. Warmachine, on the other hand, encourages cookie-cutter armies, and having everyone paint their models the company's scheme in a glorified paint-by-numbers way is just going to strengthen that.

They will release other paints that are not part of sets (IIRC in the forum Mike McVey wrote that they want about 70 paints, including metalics), so all the paints will probably be available individually at some point. So the faction packs should not stop you later if you want to try this paint line.

And the endless conversion possibilities don't even look remotely related to the topic of paint quality.

Here is an interview with Mike McVey the paint line developer on the brushthralls site. It should answer everything. Brushthralls inverview with Mike McVey about P3

But I just spoke to Mike and a few quick points about the paints,

Same manufacturer as old GW (which I designed also with the current

ones) and Coat D'ams (which is literally the old GW range with

different names) - different formulation. Higher pigment loading for a

start - cover REALLY well.

Will be sold individually within a couple of moths of the sets

releasing.

Whole line will be around 70 colours

There will be inks in the range

High quality paints that are designed by painters (me and Ali :-), for

painters.

I hope this helps.

Gladiator (the folks that make Coat D'arms) just got bought out by Black Hat. Wonder if that will effect the paints at all.

It won't. They paints are made by the same company that also made Coat D'Arms. They are not the same business AFAIK

BTW if anyone is curious the "trojan" reports appear to be McAfee over-reacting to our ad system loading a banner from another site. We've moved the banner to our local system and the issue hasn't been reported again.
