I think they look great for being your very first Marines. We can ALL show you some "first" models and as well be humbled quickly.

I'd like to make a few suggestions to help you out a bit that will both give you a better result (we are all looking to improve) and save you some time.

1. Taking a few minutes to sand down the edges of the two halves of the model coming together is easy to do and will make you models look more realistic and clean. If you look at the legs and arms you can see what I mean.

2. You might want to paint the models off the bases instead, so that way you can more easily add terrain unto the base without burying the feet of you model. Glue it in after the fact.

3. Play with washes. I've always approached a new marine set with taking ONE model and experimenting with different paint combos and washes to get the color, contrast, and blends the way I want. And then take those successes and apply them to the rest of the squad. It makes good practice and will save you time in the end because all the exprimenting is done.

4. In most cases; painters want to add depth to thier work. It makes the model more realistic and enjoyable to look at. Depth can be accomplished through a base coat of one color and then gently blended to lighter and darker areas of the model. We also add contrast by painting or washing the model in ink to bring out the reccesses and details in the model. The chest wings, the metalic aircoils on the helmet, ect ect. Its actually really easy to do and will save you time, rather then trying to paint all the details in.

I would keep going in the direction you are. Trust me your hard work and diligence will pay off. Just keep working at it. And most of all keep having fun and don't be afraid to make bold moves. I like what you have so far. Great Job.
