HunterOfTheFallen
'Ello all. I just bought the new scout sniper box today (the beginning of my DA army) and I was wondering what type of camo on their cloaks would look the best with the DA paint scheme. Just thought I'd leave this in all of your capable hands  thanks a lot! ~HotF Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91659-sniper-camo/ Share on other sites
Progenitor
To offset the green perhaps an urban camo of greys, whites and blacks would work well? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91659-sniper-camo/#findComment-1053102 Share on other sites
-Q-
Here's a recent discussion on Scout Camo. and Some recent DA Sniper Scouts. Might help. A Search of the forums and browsing through DA posts might find you some more ideas. Artimis Vergadin
For the green contrast (which green being a cool color) I would say do some offsets with browns, and reds/yellows (dull of course) (which being warm colors would compliment the green). Lion in the Stars
Don't try to actually mimic a real camo scheme, though. It will do exactly what camo is supposed to: break up the shape of the model. What this means in practice is that your mini will look 'fuzzy' on the table. You prevent this by painting the camo pattern much bigger than what it would be in real life. What I did for my (metal) DA scouts: I went for the Vietnam Tiger Stripe pattern. Start with a very pale green, like rotting flesh. Shade with a mix of chestnut ink and green ink. Keep it thin, because you're just trying to pick out the folds and seams, although a bit of shading from the wash is OK. Then you take Camo Green, and a brush you usually use for drybrushing (a worn out one, in other words). Just randomly slap paint on the model, and you want your paint to be kinda damp, not actually flow. Apply a few stripes of snakebite leather (a red-brown), and then some black stripes the same way. Paint the face as normal, then add a bit of facepaint (I was inspired by the facepaint in Soldier). If you use dark flesh or dark camo across the eyes, you'll need to paint a little bit of bleached bone for the 'white' of the eyes, or it just doesn't look right. Then paint in the iris (don't worry about the pupil), making sure you don't leave any white above or below the iris. I went for low-visibility markings on these guys, too. black chest eagle, barely highlighted with codex gray. Black chapter markings (I had a really old decal sheet). I camo'd the guns, too, with just a little bit of metal showing. If you're brave, Woodland Scenics makes this stuff called field grass that model railroaders use to represent really tall grass, and put that on the base. A buddy of mine used that on his Catachan snipers, and put one in a spider hole, completely hidden except for the barrel of the sniper rifle. Sara
I think rotting flesh would look nice for camo. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91659-sniper-camo/#findComment-1054213 Share on other sites
