Help with paint...

Recommended Posts

you could vary where you put the different colours and differ the shades of red in places. maybe blood red for the torso/arms, red gore for the shoulder pads and helmet with scab red for the legs. use any combination of shades to give it a unique look. Big blocks of gold are uncommon I think. If you were to paint a model maybe half red and half gold, you'd have a really unique colour scheme i think. But, the way I see it is if they have their own chapter symbols clearly visible on them, it wouldn't be mistaken for custodes

Custodes are pretty unique in appearance and uless you're planning on giving your marines halberds and High Elf helmets, you're okay on the colourfront IMO. :)

There's a Thousand chapters (give or take a few), 3 primary colours and 3 secondary, white, black and brown (and all those inbetween, yes, but I'm trying to be helpful here so shush...). Hence, there are bound to be many chapters with the same(ish) colour.

In my experience though, there are not that much red and gold chapters out there. in fact, I still need to see the first one...

for your gold mix mithril silver ,yellow ink (un-diluted) and vermin brown then giveit an ink wash with a mix of black , brown, and a small ammount of green inks.

for your red build up from dark flesh to blood red then for your highlight mix blood red with sunburt yellow and desert yellow. If you do it right it should turn out like this.
