Barret
Ahoy, Here are pics of the first four of my Spirit Walkers (Liber IA article linky, includes colour scheme). I'm fairly pleased with the way they turned out so far. Especially the cozy furry parka hood. :tu: As a side note, these pics were taken with my new jury-rigged photo/light box thingy. As you can see, I still haven't gotten the white balance sorted on my cam yet. You can't see much of the bases, unfortunately, but rest assured, they're quite cool (I think). Anyways, here's the Spirit Walkers: Veteran Sargeant with power weapon and booties: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Spirit%20Walkers/July%2018%2007/SargeFront.jpg His backside, with a better view of the booties: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Spirit%20Walkers/July%2018%2007/SargeRear.jpg And you thought bolters were oversized... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Spirit%20Walkers/July%2018%2007/Shoota.jpg A different kind of 'hood'lum: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Spirit%20Walkers/July%2018%2007/Hood.jpg Fire in the hole: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Spirit%20Walkers/July%2018%2007/Grenadier.jpg I'd most appreciate feedback, but please keep in mind that these guys are nowhere near basecoating. I still have to go back and do clean up, trim moldlines, fix some of the GS, drill bolters, etc. Cheers, Barret Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91991-wip-spirit-walkers/ Share on other sites
pinkbunny
that hair looks a lil silly, never been a fan of the solid block w/ notches style Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91991-wip-spirit-walkers/#findComment-1057616 Share on other sites
Barret
Heh. It's not hair. It's a fur-trimmed hood, like on a winter coat... It's my first attempt at GS'ing fur, though, so I'm not suprised it doesn't necessarily come across right... ironloki
Not a fan of the hood. Looks a little tad thick and a bit like hair. Still good for your first attempt. I like the ork gun though. Nice and chunky. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91991-wip-spirit-walkers/#findComment-1057623 Share on other sites

Nice and chunky. The hood does read better from above, instead of face-on, since you can see the rest of it, but it does look like hair... As for the Shoota, thanks. I'm pleased with the way it looks, and I think I'll have one more in the squad. I've always preferred Shootas to Bolters. So much less...weedy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91991-wip-spirit-walkers/#findComment-1057625 Share on other sites
Yamez
for the fur, try doing long, sweeping strokes, instead of little dashes. It may make it look better, It may not, but either way, it needs more texture. That aside, good stuff!
