Recommended Posts

Sorry for the crappy pics, but its the best I can do with the scanner. I think the dread turned out alright, though.

Firstly, from what I can see the paint work is nicely done, especially on the dread.

The master is a little too hard to see due to the darkness of the image, so I cannot really comment too much on him.

My first question is could you possibly explain how you made the models, i.e. what parts you used, how you assembled the parts, etc.

My second question is that I am wondering how you got the pictures? Did you place the models on a scanner and scan them in?

I ask because I have to do the same with my models and so have a few tips you may find useful. If you used a camera, ignore the following, I am sure some more informed members could help you with the ins and outs of mini photography. B)

When scanning models I find the best thing to do is get a lump of blu-tac and stick it to the base to use as a 'wedge' to stop the model from rolling from the desired position. Just enough to hold the model but not so much as to obscure nearby parts of the model.

Next, to get a good quality image try draping a white cloth or t-shirt over the models and scanner, as the light will reflect from the white background, illuminating the models and making them that much easier to see. Also, tying scanning the images at 360dpi (or there abouts) as this provides a fair amount of detail and the images can be easily tidied up somewhat in even the most basic photo editing suite, which most computers come with anyway.

I would suggest you try and get some better images and re-posting the models, as you will find you will get a lot more feedback that way. :P

Hope this helps.

ok, well, as for the explaining:

the dreadnaught is based of the throne of judement with a lot of stuff sorta 'bolted' on I just made it up as I wnt along really, both arms are scratch built using various FW and SM bits, the head is greenstuff.

The chapter master is a scrach sculpt, the right arm uses the multimlta from The throne of judgement, I replaced the barrels with an assault cannon andbolted a plasma gun on the side, I cut the support off at the rim and stuck on a trimmed down AC ammo box from the terminator sprue, the arm is varios bits I can't name. the base of the left arm's drill is the servitor support, again from the throne of judgement, and the actual drill is a GK termi's sword that I bet with two pairs of clippers. the right shoulder pad is brass eagles and thin card, the servo arms are from a techmarine, the rest, except for the bionics (which is toothpics and bitz), chest icon, and the big eagle protruding from his shin, is solid greenstuff. B)

I have got some pics of the dread using my mums digicam, they are a bit bright, but are much better that the scanned ones. Unfortunatly, my F***ing hosting site won't accept the fromat, so Ill have to print the pictures, scan them into paint again, and then upload them.

But that is another story, to be told another time (tomorrow if I can)

not our laptop, it is the worst LT that I have EVER seen.

oh, wait, the site had an error, It does support Jpeg after all...

the piccies are a a bit bright, and a few are blurry, but you can still see the 'fundamentals'.

can anyone help when it comes to photo taking, my camera is a Powershot S50

above the name it has MIC with this' - - - 'underneath it.

Are you using the "macro" function on the camera? The pictures are still awful hard to see (Macro looks like a little flower on every digi cam I've seen - it should fix your focus problem). And please rotate them so they're the right way up.

As to your painting/modeling, it's rather hard to make a proper judgement with those photos. You said the master will count as a Daemon Prince? So, it's a chaos army? It looks very Imperial so far.

first thing, the paint job looks a little messy the paint doesnt/isnt covering well enough and i can see the black(or whatever) showing through, also try cleaning up the lines(as in instead of squigly, aim for straight lines)

next, could you not rotate the pictures so i dont have to tilt my head?

they look alright other than that

Starks
