need help with painting and colour scheme

ok, in a few weeks time, I will be starting work on a new chaos marine legion, I dunno which one though (I am torn between Iron Warriors, Night Lords, Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, World Eaters and Emperors children).

 

What I was wondering is can somebody help me with a list and some tips of what paints to use for the legions I just mentioned (I am looking for simplicity as well as the army looking good, as I suck at painting (my black legion being evident to this)).

 

also I would not mind some painting tips, as I am still quite new to painting different colours (even after 6 years I cant paint to a good standard)

EDIT: and I ONLY use Citadel Paints, I dont use any other modeling paints.

me Id got with WB or IW..

 

for WB id prime the minis white then pick out all the stuff thats going to be silver & paint it black well any metals really.. then Id use sacb red waterd down 2:1 with future flood wax & water (you should mix an bottle of distilled water & FFW half and half) then its like one drop of FFW to 2 drops of paint...paint your silver parts with boltgun then drybrush is with silver.. the eyes are bad moon yellow the a light layer of red ink & a lil white dot for glare

 

IW prime it black then paint it bolt gun & dry brush silver.. the yellow & black strip parts Id paint white & got from there..

 

just my 2 cents.. Im not a good painter at all but ive read alot of stuff lol

I'm wondering on doing a few emperors children noise marines, giving them a bit more of pink than usual and also a pearlescent finish on those areas to give them more distance from sane marines (if theres any on both sides, but thats an other topic i guess..)

 

Do you have any experience with pearlescent shines? If so then please share
