Kurgan the Lurker
OK the idea here is to a. pull the old Liber Astartes website that we used to have into the B&C proper. With the plans to convert the Librarium to a WIKI format we thought it would be best to include the Chapter Listing here. The idea being to make the list interactive, easily searchable and sortable. Info pages will tie into IAs here at the B&C, user profiles at the B&C (if you want it listed on your DIY) and Marine Painter images to help folks see what official Chapters look like. This serves several purposes: Lets us bring back the old Liber Astartes listing that disappeared after Warp.net went down Gives folks in the LA and IA forums and idea of those officials Chapters that have been fleshed out (Legion of the Damned for example) and those that are a bit more vague and likely to be open for DIYing (for example the Terror Tigers). The full listing, DIY/GW Chapters will also gives folks and idea of what names folks are already using since many folks wnat to have an original name for their Chapter. Obviously there are other benefits to having the list reborn and reformatted here as it saves people having to travel all over the web for more Marine info. You might remember the old Liber Astartes Chapter listing (all 2522 Chapters worth). With theWarp.net suffering a server failure the site has been lost and theWarp is no longer hosting sties. With that in mind, Liber Astartes is moving to the B&C's server. Part of the Chapter Listing includes a list of GW Chapters. I would like to expand the list beyond the basic info it had before and here is where you come in. Below is a list of all the known GW Chapters all 200+ of them. This means they have appeared in an official GW publication of one type or another. What I would like to ask you to do is to help list out all the refrences for as many of the Chapters as we can find. We have the info from here already for some of the Chapters of Legend: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=120640 so unless you have something to add for those particular Chapters don't worry about listing them. And yes we know all about Lexicanum and IronHands.com but the problem there is a lot of the info isn't cited or all the possible refrences aren't cited and so folks are still confused about whether it is "official" or not. What we want you to do is provide complete refrence points for the Chapters that we will add to the listing/layout. The idea is to create a place where some can go and look up info on these Chapters, akin to the IronHands site listing: http://www.ironhands.com/chapters.htm just with a little more info for the Chapters. So any info you can add to that in addition to page refrences from Codex books, GW novels, shorts stories, GW posters, GW pamphlets (like the Steel Confessors). I am not asking you to print the info, just the refrences. Below is the list of Chapter names. Any info you would like to add feel free to do so. The main things needed are: Gene-seed, Homeworld/Flagship, Founding#, refrence locations. Now obviously a lot of these Chapters have more immediate info than others and for the sake of keeping the list readable I haven't copied it over. Others on the other hand are just a 1 line refrence in a novel or fluff bit in White Dwarf somewhere. But whatever you feel like adding is fine!! For example: 156. Purple Stars: 2nd Founding, the short story "The Lives of Ferag Iron-Wolf", Let the Galaxy Burn, page 592. Some Chapters may have similar names and may actually be the same Chapter just listed with typical GW editing. So if you see something missing feel free to add to it. Once we have this complete it will get folded into the rebuild of Liber Astartes with credit going to everyone at the B&C of course! What about DIY Chapters you might ask? Don't worry, the plan is to add the old list into the Wiki first and then we'll start setting it so folks can submit their own Chapters if they aren't already on the list. This is the full list of Official Chapters. That means they have appeared in a GW publication (Rulebook, White Dwarf, FW book, Warhammer Monthly, Citadel Journal, Inferno and so on). There are also Renegade warbands, Chapters and Chaos Legions in this list as well. Marked em out with a * There area few Chapters that might be considered official, depending on how you look at them. They started off as Golden Demon "create a Chapter" entries, like the Yellow Jackets. Some went on to appear in other GW publications (such as How to Paint Space Marines) but have otherwise not been mentioned in any official capacity. So take them or leave them as you like So...onto the list: Absolvers Adulators Alpha Legion Angels Encarmine Angels of Absolution Angels of Damnation Angels of Ecstasy (Sons of Ulthuan)* Angels of Fire Angels of Flame* Angels of Fury Angles of Iron Angels of Penance Angels of Purgatory Angels of Redemption Angels of Repentance Angels of Retribution Angels of Vengence Angels of Vigilance Angels of Wrath Angels Penitent Angels Porphyr Angels Redeemed Angels Repentent Angels Resplendent Angels Revenant Angels Sanguine Angels Vermilion Anoiters of Blood* Apocalypse Company* Apostles of Minthras* Astral Claws [Tiger Claw, Red Corsairs]* Astral Knights {Dissolved} Aurora Avengers Avenging Sons Beasts of Annihilation* Benedictors Betrayers of Pain* Black Consuls Black Crusaders Black Dragons Black Guard Black Inculpators Black Talons Black Templar Black Wings Bleak Brotherhood* Blood Angels Blood Disciples* Blood Drinkers Blood Legion Blood Ravens Blood Reavers Blood Swords Brazen Claws Brazen Skulls {Destroyed} Brazen Minotaurs Brotherhood of Darkness* Brotherhood of Ghrast Brothers of Blood* Brothers of Darkness (possibly Brotherhood of Darkness)* Brotherhood of a Thousand Celebrants Celestial Guard Celestial Lions Charnel Guard Children of Purgatos* Claws of Lorek* Cleaved* Company of Misery (Brethren of Misery, Desolate Brotherhood)* Company of Shadows (Death Falcons)* Consecrators Contenders Crimson Castellans Crimson Guard Crimson Fists Crimson Paladins Crimson Scions Crimson Shades Crusaders Damned Compay of Lord Caustos* Dark Angels Dark Brotherhood Dark Crusaders Dark Eagles Dark Hands Dark Hunters Dark Sons Dark Tusks* Death Eagles Death Guard (Dusk Raiders)* Death Knights Death Shadows* Death Spectres Death Strike Deathmongers* Deathwatch Desert Lions Destroyers Devourers Dictators Disciples of Caliban Disciples of Destruction* Disciples of Ruin* Doom Eagles Doom Legion Doom Warriors Dragon Lords Dragon Warriors* Eagle Warriors Emperor's Children* Emepror's Eagles Emperor's Hands Emperor's Hawks Emperor's Spears Emperor's Swords - renegade or destroyed depending on the fluff Emperor's Thunder Emperor's Warbringers Espandors Excoriators Excubants Execrators Executioners Exemplars Exorcists Extinction Angels* Fire Angels Fire Claws [Relictors, Relicators] Fire Hawks [Legion of the Damned] Fire Lords Fire Reavers* Flame Eagles Flame Falcons {Destroyed} Flawless Host* Flesh Eaters Flesh Tearers Genesis Golden Gryphons Grey Knights Grey Slayers Grief Bringers Guardians of the Covenant Hakanor's Reavers* Halo Brethren Hammers of Dorn Harbingers Hawk Lords Helion Legion Heralds of Ultramar Heralds of Vengeance Honoured Sons Hound Skull Hounds of Demos Howling Griffon Immortal Hearts Imperial Castellans Imperial Fists Imperial Harbingers Imperial Paladins Imperial Stars Imperial Storm - technically don't exist as they lost the vote on the Sabertooth site. Kurgan the Lurker
With painter 2.0 and Wargear quickly approaching plus the Librarium we are moving closer to integrating Liber Astartes into the overall B&C site. As such I'm pulling this thread back up to get your help in gathering more info on Official GW Chapters. So just as a reminder -- please quote the section and the source. Please do not post entire pages of info out of rule books and such - a little blurb is more than sufficient along with the issue/page# and any other source info you can give. Descriptive info on the Chapters, their homeworlds and their status as Codex or not is most helpfull. battle captain corpus
Well this ones going to open up a debate but here goes....gulp..... :D Chapter: Iron Hearts Primarch: Rubinek Mentioned in the Black Library book "Maelstorm", short story "Hell in a Bottle". Iron Hearts were one of the first 20 legions, one of the 2 expunged from Imperial records. Story told of how a neophyte gave in during training and was possessed by a greater daemon, which went onto destroy the entire monastry and all involved. :pinch: The legion was removed from the Imperial records due to the shame of the act that a brother could be so close to failure that he would give in to Chaos. Nothing was ever said of the Primarch, but it was beleived that he died during the slaughter. I am not making this up just to use them as a Chapter of my own, the book has an ISBN and can be looked up, though copies are rarer than Wookie poo! Anyway I collect Sallies and Luna Wolves.....
