frankendoodle65
Nice I like the master very original, you going to put a cape on him, the model screams I need a cape. may i ask, what exactly is the benefit of having a cape? realistically, all they do is help you fall over. it's like: "hey, sarge, look at my cool cape! look at it flow in the wind, man." "ok, sure... now, CHARGE!" "OK... ATTA-AAAAARRRRGHHH!!!!" "what is it?" "... i fell over!" "riiiiiight..." the kind of scenario you'd expect to see on http://tsoalr.com/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1072115 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Hmm, think that may be the best way to go with the paintjob. Cheers Neph. frankendoodle65 : Think it's more of a status thing mate, let's not forget the valuable lessons learned in Pixar's The Invincibles concerning cloaks though... :D Quick update http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines036.jpg I've nearly finished creating the base layer for the model and I've started to roughly GS all the gaps and sculpting some additional details. Still working on a way to include the heavy bolters and going to try to just use the sponsons for the Las-cannons to see if that works. Here's a shot of the model above as a Gothic marine, still need to add the greeves and stuff but it should give an impression of where I'm headed. Not sure if I should add more robes though. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines037.jpg The scouts seem a little small in comparrison (Black Templar shot below) to the Gothics could I get away with just making the Scout sergeants bigger or do you think that I should make the scouts bigger as well? Martox
For the Landraider heavy bolters, hows about a gun servitor rigged up into the front railings just above the doorway? As for the rest, this is stunning work Doghouse. Keep it up. You've inspired me to make a Chaos killteam using the Chaos Warrior model conversions you do. GeneralStukov
I love your work as always doghouse... can we get married and then get divorced so I can take half of all your models? XD kidding kidding... I'd really like to start work on my own gothic marines since all your work has really inspired me to start on my relictors 100% now! nice work brother! solid snake drive
WFB or 40k cause i checked out the WFB hordes of chaos but couldn't find it.(( those thigh guards look snazzy and the chainmail is cool. Brother Renn
WFB or 40k cause i checked out the WFB hordes of chaos but couldn't find it.(( those thigh guards look snazzy and the chainmail is cool. They are from the Chaos Warriors sprues from WHFB. They come connected to the back/ cape of the model, so some cutting and GSing is needed. As stated above, check out the tutorial section for more ideas. cypher_zero
Sweet models. Where can I find the torso you used for the captain? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1072669 Share on other sites
HellChyld
the torso for the captian or master is from FW red scorpions. I think the scout sgts should be fine being bigger'd but as scouts aren't full marines yet you could do them in diffrent sizes showing their growth progress Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1072678 Share on other sites
FireHawk
@Doghouse Great DA, it reminded of the PH DA art as soon as I saw it. As for the land raider heavy bolter problem, may I suggest the immolator tank sprue, it's got two HBs with drum mags (and a SB with a drum mag) maybe converted into a turret on a raised position on the top of the tower: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/st...8001&orignav=10 Or maybe set up the land raider HB turret upside down hanging from a platform made using two of those CoD eagle gargoyle things as buttresses with a plasticard 'roof' on top, and have the structure just above the door on the upper level, sorry I can't explain it better. It looks like a tough thing to get the model WYSIWYG without spoiling the nice look it has at the moment. Good luck with whatever you end up doing. Legion commander Argonas
Cheers guys. Hmm, could be right about the master maybe I need to scrap the new versions and dig out the older models I started a while back. This is only going to be a small project, at the moment I've got ten sniper scouts waiting to be constructed, five terminators, ten marines or so, a dreadnought and this monster I just started... http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines034.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/SpaceMarines035.jpg I've always wanted to do a mobile fortress type Landraider and the C.O.D. kits were just too tempting to pass up. :) AAAARRRRRRGHHH!!! I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!!! :) (no offence :P ) I've had that idea in my head for aaaaages *sigh* now you've beaten me to it. (done a fine job, too :tu: ) although that doesn't mean I'm not gonna do one ;) here we go, those who went onto boltaman's titan thread before the crash, look away now: *large intake of air* Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours,Mine's gonna have more guns than yours!!!!! TheDarkApostle
Doghouse you bastard :D You really makes me wanna try and do a Chaos version of that for my Word Bearers now, like I didn't have enough things to do or wanting to do already :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1073038 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Thanks for the praise and feedback, it always helps when working on something like this. :D Martox: Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking. As it's supposed to just scream 40k from the top of it's lungs a servitor would work really nicely. GeneralStukov : Only if I can still visit them on weekends... :P If you get the chance remember to post pictures of your Relictors mate, be very cool to see them. White Crusader: As Grey Knight kindly pointed out they're the WFB Chaos Warriors. ;) cypher_zero: Like Nephren-Ka said it's the FW Veteran Sergeant Haas Red Scorpion torso as is the bionic arm holding the sword (bionic arm is awesome!). I just added a skull over the RS symbol. Nephren-Ka: Hmm, that's not a bad idea actually. I was a bit worried that they were fully grown as Scouts and would have to rebuild them all. FireHawk: Cheers mate I'll give that a go. :) Legion commander Argonas: None taken... ;) TheDarkApostle: Go for it, it'd be brilliant for either Word Bearers or Black Templars in my opion. More pictures later... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1073057 Share on other sites
iron father
Not sure about the colour scheme though, should I paint it in chapter colours or paint it as a building? Why not both? Paint the land raider part DA green, and paint the superstructure in a more architectural style. Glad to see you working on this project, anything that will get more pictures of the 'gothic marines' circulating is good in my book. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1073304 Share on other sites
Malleus
I'll add to the chorus, My holy f  B) ;) ng god!!! I LOVE your gothic marines. By far one of the most inspiring work I've seen in ages. I am very glad you chose to mix the Bretonnian Knight head with the CW legs. Can't wait to see the finished greaves! And on another topic. As if your gothic DAs weren't out-of-this-world-cool by now you come up with that beautiful monstruosity!! It screams 40k!!. Dark, fanatic, unhinged, you name it. I think it captures perfectly the feel of the most fanatical marine chapters and imperial organizations (BT, DA, WH, DH). And I guess, the World Bearers too (shudder). The only minor, very minor criticism I can offer is that for such a huge structure, the LR tracks seem a little small. Still looks amazing though. Great work! :tu: Malleus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1073343 Share on other sites
cypher_zero
Any way to get ahold of that bit without paying the outrageous price for the model it comes with? I live in the US. Doghouse
Cheers guys! Here's an update on the first Marine I'm just adding the finishing touches to before (cleaning up GS work/moldlines, etc) I can finally start painting him. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture004.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture001.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture002.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture005.jpg I'm seriously concidering basing the Master/Interrogator on the artwork of Asmodai, the one where he's stood resting his hand on a dirty great sword. iron father: I was thinking something along those lines actually but maybe one or the other may be better, for example completely DA Green or a maybe completely grey with sculpted chapter icons in DA colours? Not sure yet. Malleus: If I could restart the model and had the cash I'd double up the tracks making them twice as wide. Atleast this way I can still get away with passing it off as a Landraider. Judging by the codex cover currently doing the rounds at the moment I've managed to hit the nail on the head. cypher_zero: Which part do you mean? TheDarkApostle
Doghouse, quick question, which CoD pack is it you used for it? Small, medium or the big one? And Malleus, it's called Word Bearers, not World as in World Eaters ^_^ Oh, and by the way, the Marine is ocming along very nicely Doghouse <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1074173 Share on other sites

Doghouse
Cheers Guys! TheDarkApostle: I used plasticard and the Sanctum Imperialis pack for the bulk of the model (see the first shot of the Tower on the first page), I'm using some spare pieces from the Basilica Administratum and Manufactorum packs. :) Quick update Started to base coat the test Astarte and a first attempt at scaling up a Scout Sniper. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture010.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture007.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture008.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1075845 Share on other sites
Alpha PTP
Wow! That marine is huge. I love the change from the more gothic DA to the knight-theme. It looks awsome. By the way... Doghouse
Thanks Alpha PTP! Quick Update This is the raw chassis for either the Rhino or Whirlwind depending on how it develops. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture011.jpg I'm thinking of adding arches along the sides and the small wall bit around the top like the balcony on the front of the Landraider. Still very early days on this one and nothing is definate yet, I'm just playing around with the left over bits and a spare Rhino kit to see what works. Any suggestions at this stage are more than welcome. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/93238-dark-angel-fallen-hunters/page/2/#findComment-1076003 Share on other sites
