Metal-themed Slaanesh army

Oh my god! Your stuff is almost too good! For my tastes it's maximum coolness, you hear me, maximum!

And not only do you have Heavy Metal references to two bands which are among my favourite ones (I've

been on concerts of both), no, you even made a discworld reference!

About the road sign. Crossing Acacia street, rue morgue... what reference is that? Edgar Ellen Poe?

All in all, dude! Absolute ultra respect and fun laughter and tapping on your shoulder and so on from my side, regarding your army! Keep up the good work ! !

The Iron maiden songs "22 Acacia Avenue" and "Murders in the Rue Morgue".

(But the song Murders in the Rue Morgue is inspired by/based on the story by Edgar Allen Poe.)

@Mortarion - this is the single best army i have seen to date. seriously. it has everything. including metal! you must play your games with 'number of the beast' blasting in the background. rock on!

these are pretty good conversions, they would be more suited to khorne though. metal just really isnt suiting for slaanesh.

@Shinohai - originally noise marines were 'metal maniacs'. they were the original metal militia - so to speak. ;)

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/headbang.gif Amazing army man. Many have been the times when i thought of making metal themed noise marines, but the thought of having to paint purple turns me away. I love the Rhinos! keep it up http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/headbang.gif

edit: By the way, you can get smallish speakers and hook build them into tanks or into boxes(like your amps), plug in your CD or MP3 player and get an army to play metal. My land raider does it.

noise marines have improved greatly since then. there is a type of music out there called noise, that is what slaanesh and the noise marines would play on the battlefield. metal just isnt powerful enough for the emperors children.

Mortarion, YOUR ARMY RULES !

It is the frigging best thing I have ever seen ! It doesn't get any cooler than this !

My sincere congratulations on concept, execution and everything !

Oh, and ignore the bitching of Shinohai on every page.

As someone who has grown-up in the 80s and who loves Maiden and Manowar I say kudos to you, we all bow before you, even the envious.

"Other armies play, Mortarion's EC KILL !"

OK, time for the final part.

PART IV - FAST AND HEAVY

Wheels of fire - Noise marine bikers

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/bikes01.jpg

One thing I felt would fit well into a metal-themed army was Chaos space marine bikers. Not just Chaos space marines on bikes, but Chaos marine bikers. All the bikes are converted since I didn't like the original ones.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/bikes02.jpg

The champion. There are two things that I feel must be explained about this model. The first is the face. He is modelled to look like the warrior on the front of the Manowar covers. His face is always cloaked in shadow. This was my way to show that.

The other is the colour of his bike. It is painted with chrome SENMM. As I described earlier with the other chrome SENMM effects I don't really think I succeeded. But since it looks cool I kept it. On the model it becomes a little strange since the only surfaces you see from the front are ones that reflect the sky and therefore should be coloured blue. So it kinda looks like the whole bike is made of some blueish material. But... I liked the look and it certainly made him stand out. Also notice the Eddie/Slaanesh icon on the front of the bike.

And the daemonette behind him was a must.

The icon bearer and doom siren operator for the unit. The banner is a cover that was painted for the Seventh son... album, but to my knowledge it was never used as a cover for one of the singles. (It is just shown in the booklet that comes with the CD.) In my opinion it is one of the best Maiden covers so I decided to include it in the army anyway.

Two bikers. Notice the sonic blasters on the bikes.

More bikers. The one closest to the camera is giving the enemy the finger, even though it doesn't show so clearly on the picture.

Brothers of metal - Roadie havocs

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/havocs01.jpg

The heavy roadies. Needed to bring down tanks.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/hav02.jpg

Autocannons. One original (almost) and one home built.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/hav03.jpg

Missile launchers. The one with the beer was originally intended to have the normal arm but it did not fit properly so I had to come up with another sollution. And in the end it got so much better.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/hspawn01.jpg

Another daemonic speaker spawn.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/Bulonicus/Metal/hspawn02.jpg

Another angle of the spawn.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed the army. I thought about adding things to it but it will propably take a while before I do something more. During the time I built the army the rules changed from 3rd to 4th ed and suddenly the army did not perform the way I had planned on the battlefield. But it still recieved quite low "Army composition" scores on tournaments. Without going in too much on how the tournaments in Sweden works, it means that my opposition on tournaments mostly consisted of armies that were a lot more competative then this one that I had a hard time beating. If it is going to work properly it needs several changes.

But even if I don't play it that much I am still very glad that I built/painted it. It will be a "display army".

Most impressive, it's amazing how much tiny little love you've put into these figures. BTW the cover from 7th son that you have was originally the inner sleeve cover for the LP. That's why it was never on a single.

Three thumbs up (mutated from chaos obviously)
