lt.rasczak
Hello All, This will be a thread of my Pre-Heresy/Great Crusade Era Emperor's Children. I won't have time to update a lot and I paint rather slow. I hope to average a few pieces a month but studying takes up more and more of my time these days so who knows. I have always loved the Emperor's Children since I first read their index astartes back in WD 254, and after reading the Horus Heresy novels and seeing the artwork my interest was rekindled. My main inspiration for models and characters are the books and the artwork. I don't really play anymore so this is more of a modeling log then a road to an actual army list. I have a few pieces done that many of you have probably already seen. Ancient Rylanor http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/rylanor1.jpg Lucius(I want to put a younger looking head on him but haven't found anything I really like yet) http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpNV48Nk.jpg Fabius http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphp9CIJ3l.jpg And Finally I have been working on Eidolon today. He still needs and arm and a back pack and some touch ups on his highlights but he is mostly done. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpVxgvnK.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpsNR6Rp.jpg Updates will be slow but I would like to here people's opinions and points for improvement. Thanks for looking and and C&C is welcome as always. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146481-preheresy-emperors-children-log/ Share on other sites

geejo
they look great! Good idea about doing a Chaos chapter pre heresy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146481-preheresy-emperors-children-log/#findComment-1699957 Share on other sites
lt.rasczak
I finished Eidolon and am pretty happy with him. I used some gloss on the hammer to try and get it to look like wet marble. I think the effect is better in real life than in the picture. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpIlg2Bw-1.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpC0NaKa.jpg Thanks for looking, C&C welcome as always. psychomidget99
is it just me or is eidolons thunder hammer slightly bent? looks it from the angle imo, u might want to give that one a look but ur work is amazing! im doing exactly the same thing, but im even slower, havent even finished the modelling yet, let alone paintng. are u going to squeeze in any more characters from Fulgrim (if ur using that HH book for reference too)? im sure u'd do them justice and if u wouldnt mnd sharing ur mad skillz, how did u paint the tabard on lucius and the purple armour? it is EXACTLY what ive tried and failed several times to achieve cheers, keep up the good work Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146481-preheresy-emperors-children-log/#findComment-1708446 Share on other sites
lt.rasczak
psychomidget99: Thanks for your comments. The purple armor is pretty simple. 1. White primer 2. A few thinned coats of warlock purple to give even coverage of the model 3. A slightly thinned wash of levithan purple. Add very little water to the mix. Wash the armor with this and try to get it to pool in the shadows. Also it works better if you do a few thin washes rather than one wash straight out of the bottle because if you go straight from the bottle it tends to pool oddly on the model and dry in weird places. 4. Highlight the edges with tentacle pink Tabards 1. White primer 2. thinned down bleached bone to give even coverage 3. Highlight or drybrush the robe with skull white 4. Wash it all with gryphonne sepia. Here are some WIP shots of troops and a command squad. The standard is done but I'm out of glue and will try to get a good pic tomorrow. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpd4Rpg1.jpg Combi-flamer http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpzRtmFj.jpg Trooper http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpjDxfL2.jpg WIP troops and Champion. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphp7X8oG5.jpg I think I'm going to remake Lucius to make him stand out a little better and have him lead a Vanguard squad that deepstrikes with a drop pod. I have the drop pod but it will most likely not be done anytime soon. Thanks for looking and C&C is welcome as always. Solamus
If they are all up to this standard, it will be a very impressive force. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146481-preheresy-emperors-children-log/#findComment-1799463 Share on other sites

Dionesiist
I really like Fabius and Eidolon, good job on those, not that the others aren't good themselves. :P Though didn't Lucius have a sabre-type sword? Or did he acquire it after the Heresy? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146481-preheresy-emperors-children-log/#findComment-1799525 Share on other sites
lt.rasczak
Standard bearer. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk139/trainrex16/tmpphpQKmle7.jpg Dionesiist: I'm planning on making another lucius so the model that represents him now will most likely be demoted to a random sergeant. He has a broad sword before the heresy and I plan on making the next model have a lot smaller sword than the company champion sword. Something that a person could duel with rather than a giant meat cleaver. Thanks for the comments and thanks for looking. dark_inquisitor
always like seeing characters from a novel come alive (in a manner of speaking) and great job sculpting and painting. and a small question a little off topic: can you play a pre-heresy force against a standard "modern" force? im terrible at painting
i assume that you will be using the "standard" space marine codex for games, or are they showcase? lt.rasczak
Yes, standard space marine codex. The only thing I plan to change with the squad is a to have a multimelta instead of a missile launcher. These guys are getting a rhino and going tank hunting.
