However I'd like to echo the sentiments that the thunderfire cannon needs some kind of cowling. You mentioned that you hated the look of the real model, but I think the cowling is what ties it in with other space marine weapons. Take a look at the twinlinked heavy bolters on razorbacks and land raiders for example, they all have some kind of cowling. The trickiest parts were getting his arms to look right while holding the spear. I repositioned a bolt pistol arm and a tactical arm but if anyone has any better ideas for the arms it would help out a lot. The only things left to finish are adding some sort of counter weight to the end of his guardian spear(when the right bit is found) and painting the bolter casing black. Would love to hear what you guys think of him. Especially if i missed any areas or you think of anyway he could be improved upon. Thanks for looking. look for another update in 2-3 days. Loken86: The paint is smooth for a couple of reasons depending which models. For the tanks and the vehicle below it is from airbrushing the warlock purple and also airbrushing the leviathan purple wash on the model. Everything comes out nice and smooth. :( For the custode it was a thin layer of mithril silver over a black undercoat followed by a few thin layers of burnished gold, followed with a wash of devlan mud and another thin layer of burnished gold on the raised areas. I feel that wash makes all the difference because before that the armor on the custode did not look smooth at all. I'll try to get him started next week and do a step by step with him. The parts for the custodes are as follows: 1- Dark angles veteran box for the legs. 2- MK. 8 chest plate from the tactical box- I had these lying around since I don't use them on my tacticals 3- Space marine arms- again from tactical box 4- High elf chariot heads- Got the 4 heads I'll be using for around four or five bucks 5- Tomb kings weapons- got the four i need for about 4-5 bucks. It was on ebay about 6 months ago so I don't really remember 6- Shoulder pads were left overs from the captain box and command squad box I would wager you could make a unit of five for around forty bucks if you got creative and scrounged your bits boxes. I'm going to be using them as grey knight terminators so they will end up costing slightly less then buying the GW box. Here is another update. I caved and bought space hulk. Have only played a few games but its tons of fun. Wanted to be able to use the terminators with my pre-heresy army if I ever geared up for Apoc, so they will be painted like my EC. BBL Edit: The only thing i don't really like (maybe because i can't see it that well) is the Librarians face. Not enough detail like on the rest of the model. The face gives the model character IMO. They have neat rules for Pre Heresy, Mid Heresy and (Currently) The Siege of Terra. The Custodes rules are sweet, and extremely effective (What's that? Can't be affected by psychic powers? Yes random sentence, that's right) but the bling tends to make them incredibly costly. However, like I said, the most effective things there.
