The Fallen are Rising!

SO I have been playing with Repainting my Fallen Army for quite some time now. I finally have some stuff that is ready for show over here.

First up is a Terminator Squad. They're about 90% finished - they need some more detailing done... chevrons, checks, and better Dark Angel Symbols... but they're good enough for the table.

And individually

This was where the idea started. But I'm not a fan of too much gold.

I'm aiming at medium/high tabletop. Comments and criticism welcome

Really cool, love how they're all normal (well as normal as chaos can be), then suddently... BAM posessed terminator! LOL! The colorscheme was well done, and that purple skintone on the posessed is just amazing. How did you do it, simple drybrush, or wet on wet technique, or something else?

Keep on trukkin' lad! (oops, there goes my ork side again :()

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it. I have a couple more squads that will be posted soon... and I am working on a Chaos Lord...

@ Nihm - Good eyes. You got most of the bits used... Also Oblit legs and Belakor's body. I'm trying to figure out a way of doing another similar one without using the same bits. We'll see how that goes.

@hvnsntsoldier - I think that the purple was built up in layers of wet paint (I rarely drybrush cos I find it too hard to get the effects I imagine before I start) I think it started with a Codex Grey base for most of the flesh, and Chaos Black on the claw, building up layers with different mixes of Codex Grey and Warlock Purple. There might be a recipe in the WIP thread listed at the top.

Keep the thoughts coming... any suggestions on how to improve?

Cheers

The scythes come from the Typhus model (I bought 6 back in the days of mail order). For the ones holding them one handed, I cut/filed/shaved the lower hand away, then green stuffed bandages/wrappings over the area to blend it in with the original.

Since mail order is now defunct, you might want to try bitz sites. Alternatively, the WH ghoul/skeleton boxes have non-40k scythes (and then add guitar wire), or try building them out of Tyrannid arms (as I did with one of my daemon princes)

Hope it helps.

Second Squad - This will double as my Chaos Lord and his "retinue" in smaller games

Thanks guys... I appreciate the comments.

one thing i really like is the skull pauldrons on one of the termies in the first post - are they bitz from somewhere or greenstuff?

Any skull pads on the termi's in either squad are straight out of the Chaos Terminator boxes. I can do some GSing, but I'm not that good yet

:P

Are fallen actually chaos then, or only some of them?

LOL... that's a question for the ages. I dare you to go to the Dark Angel's forum and ask that question :nuke:

I believe there are 4 lines of thought...

1. Yes, they are Chaos.

2. No... but they're not fighting for the Imperium either. They have seen through the lies of the Imperium and Lords of Terra, and are just out for themselves.

3. Perhaps... they may have been misled, but are now fighting for redemption

4. No, they are not, they have always been true to the Emperor, but were betrayed by Johnson who thought about joining Horus.

And of course there are those Dark Angels who have turned traitor in recent times and "gone over to the Dark side"... but they are not classically known as "The Fallen"

I think of my army as being under #2 (Think either the back story to Soul Drinkers, or recently a Heresy Era Army).

They are slowly becoming more Chaos-y though as I add Oblits, Daemon Princes etc.

Alrighty... Squad 3.

I'm working up some Chapter Symbols for them, but they are tabletop ready just now. Symbols should be done in time for a group shot.

These are the work horse group... pretty much just standard Chaos Terminators.
