Update June 9: Pics of the full army on this post.

Here's some stuff I finished in preparation for an upcoming tournament that I wanted to share. I have around 1700-1800 points of pre-heresey Emperor's Children painted up now. Here are 2 rhinos and an ironclad dread. I still need to start a drop pod for the dread, and finish about 4-5 infantry for the list I plan to take.

Ironclad dread: I tried something new with this guy, with the shading on the purple areas, to make him stand out and be a centerpiece for my army display. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though looking at the photos I realize I could have been neater with the steel NMM areas, but I can tell myself that it looks better in person. Transporting this guy is going to be a pain, considering how the seismic hammer sticks out like that.

Ancient Rylanor?! :)

P.S. That purple is breathtaking, seriously, how the heck did you manage that?

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'll post up a picture of the display board with the army when it's finished. It's my first time making one, so don't expect anything very fancy :P .

Quick recipe for the purple on the rhinos:

- Base of liche purple over black primer

- Blackline shadowed areas of the armour with chaos black

- Hilight by blending up to (discontinued) tentacle pink. So approx. 3/4 purple 1/4 pink -> 1/2 purple 1/2 pink -> 1/4 purple 3/4 pink -> fine hilight of pure pink.

The gold on both models is snakebite leather base up to golden yellow up to pure white with about a million layers. Honestly, I didn't count how many I did but it was a lot.

The purple on the dreadnaught was done with a base of liche purple up to warlock purple and then to tentacle pink, similar number of layers as with the gold.

i think i fainted look at them :jaw:

no words describe how well they are painted! you should be working of 'Eavy Metal! i'm serious!

those are the most impressive models i have ever seen - those purples have made me fall in love.

just outstanding!

Athiair :D

Holy mother of awesome sauce :jaw: Excellent, as everyone else has said. Just one tiiiiiny thing: the dreadnought's left shoulder guard, the gold doesn't seem to blend nearly as well as the rest of it, rather more like clearly distinct lines of progressively lightening shades. Simply eye popping work all the same though :D
I really must applaud the paintjobs here. Excellent shading, highlighting and NMM on the models shown. The freehand is also exemplary. However, the tracks on the Rhinos appear to still be black and not painted and the piping on the dreadnought is also black and apparently unpainted. Those are my only hang ups on these otherwise impressive pieces of art. ^_^
I love the colours they are just so eye-catching! Makes your models really stand out! Your purple & yellow/gold contrast is really great - in fact it is so great all I can do is priase it rather that constructively critique it! Very nicely done sir, most definately looking forward to following this thread!!!!!!!
