mughi3
We played the heck out of the imperial city table for the last month, so we decided to bring the mechanicus forge table back with a slightly different layout. deathspectersgt7, Dr_Ruminahui, Interrogator Stobz and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185355-showcase-terrain-scenery-and-fortifications/page/4/#findComment-5871630 Share on other sites

I'm making another tile now, so I'll take some photos tonight and start up a thread if I remember. But overall, any areas painted grey for concrete, that is xps foam. The buildings/shacks are foamcore. Much use of corrugated card for making roofs/scrap metal. Mixed in some MDF (mainly walkways) and a few bits of GW kits. thick card (cant remember the exact name of it now) was used to make the steel girders, edging and detailing, along with some plaster casts of random pipes and detailing. Each tile was then painted/sealed with a modgepodge and tile grout mix to seal it all and give some texture. Then the entire piece was sprayed black, dark brown, dark red, silver (each layer getting less). Then It was a sepia and burnt umbra (and a splash of yellow) put into a cup of water to make a filthy wash that was liberally pasted over the entire thing. That gave the base over which I painted the gray concrete, and then identified anything that was being painted to break up and give some spot colours. These were sponged with a latex masking stuff. Once that was dry, I used art acrylic paints (bright ones) to do the colours, then when it was dry you rub the latex mask off and that gives the rust/worn look, which then had streaks of rust applied around/below using the same burnt umba/sepia wash as before. Finally it was details picking out, grafiti added and posters to give that lived in feel. Oh, this was all spawned from watching Eric's hobby workshop on youtube, he made a single video about creating a shanty town underhive thing, which I loved and made me want to do similar, so I started with the left corner tile as a version inspired by his vid, and the rest grew from there Edited October 26, 2022 by spafe Bryan Blaire and Dr_Ruminahui 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185355-showcase-terrain-scenery-and-fortifications/page/4/#findComment-5879103 Share on other sites

Corswain
I've had a bunch of scenery sitting around in boxes for a while now (in some cases, years) and finally got the motivation, tools and paint to tackle it. Bouargh
Legend tells that the MkVII Marines Statue at Warhammer World entrance was changed for a Stormcast eternal for AoS promotion purpose. Wrong: with this undisputable proof, we can see that the former statue was in fact used as a training target by GSC invaders... (see NEXOS attack map on webstore for the only documented proof of this insurection...) More seriously, done from rests of plasticard, a Space Crusade SM (uncomplete - I do not know from where or who I got it; I never owned space crusade neither played it except on Atari ST....), and lots of icons and seals from the bitzbox. Updated 14-01-23: here is a second thing I just finished. A half burried chimera chassis. To be used as LoS blocking item/small vantage point/hill... Made out from spare parts of a Legion Basilisk, plus some bitz fron here or there (tracks from 1st version of plastic Leman Russ, SM Scouts crate, elements of sectro mechanicus....). I tried to reproduce a Cthonian head hunter scheme for the hull, and I am quite satisfied with it. It allows the wrecked vehicule to denote from the environmental grey (Ashland themed table). Bouargh
In one month, from a single wrecked Chimera to a complete table, although only for small games so far: I am quite proud of the wrecked vehicles. You cna see them in my galleries, so do not hesitate to visit and drop comments and advises. It will probably grow up in size as I´ve done so far only 4oo10 dragon Teeth and as I have at least enough material for a secon wrecked Chimera chassis (spares from Legion Basilisks) and so many bitz from Leman Russes, Predators...
