The opening report is Blood Angels versus Eldar at 2000 points.

The Eldar deploy in a line with the Wraithguard quite central. To their left are the Banshees, Avengers (DA1) and the Wraithknight. To the right of the Wraithguard are Guardians, the Falcon containing the Fire dragons and the other Avenger squad (DA2). The Spirit Seer is with the Wraithguard while the Farseer and Warlock are just behind them.The Hemlock is in reserve. Once the Blood Angels have deployed the Striking Scorpions set up in the middle of the board. The Eldar are due to first turn...

In response the Blood Angels castle up behind the ruin with the Land Raider and the Predator at the forefront. Behind the Land Raider is the Bolterback that contains the Librarian and the Melta RAS (LRAS) while behind the Predator is the Plaserback that contains Corbulo and the Plasma RAS (CRAS). Mephiston is deployed in the middle of all four tanks while the Attack Bikes are just to the flank of the Plaserback. All are within 6” of the Bolterback and the Fragioso, Land Speeder and Stormraven (who is giving the Scouts a ride) are in reserve.

Turn one
BA
~ Blood Angels steal the initiative! CRAS has Red Thirst.
~ The Drop Pod lands near DA1 and unloads the Fragioso. All tanks advance towards the central ruin while the bikes move up the BA right flank. Mephiston follows behind the tanks.
~ The Fragioso kills nine of DA1 with the Drop Pod killing the last for First Blood. The bikes turbo boost into the Eldar deployment zone whilst the remaining firepower knock two wounds off the Wraithknight.

Eldar
~ The Spirit Seer casts Renewer on the Wraithknight, restoring a wound, and then casts conceal on the Wraithguard. The Farseer casts Guide on the Wraithknight and both Warlocks cast Conceal.
~ All advance, with the Scorpions and Falcon heading towards the Land Raider and Bolterback.
~ Shield works however the Wraithknight knocks two wounds of Mephiston, the Falcon knocks a HP off the Fragioso and everything else runs. The Guardians are now sitting on an objective.
~ Scorpions fail a charge on the the Land Raider

Turn Two
BA
~ Land Speeder Deep Strikes in behind the Falcon. The Death Company disembark from the Land Raider and advance towards the Scorpions. The Bikes and Fragioso continue to more along the Eldar deployment zone while Mephiston moves out of sight of the Wraithknight. No tanks move.
~ Three wounds are dealt on the Wraithknight, two Scorpions die to small arms fire and three Banshees also perish. The Land Speeder misses its six Heavy Bolter shots on the Falcon’s rear armour...
~ The Death Company butcher the Scorpions for one loss.

Eldar
~The Wraithknight regains another wound from the Sprit Seer’s Renewer and the Wraithguard are again concealed. The DC are Doomed while the Wraithguard are Guided and both Warlocks again use Conceal successfully.
~ The Fire Dragon’s disembark to swat the Land Speeder, the Wraithknight shuffles away from the oncoming Bikes while the Banshees and DA2 advance.
~ The Dragons explode the Land Speeder and the Falcon explodes the Fragioso. The Banshees kill two DC while the Wraithknight kills a further three.
~ The remaining DC are wiped in combat by the Banshees.
VP – E:3, BA:1

Turn Three
BA
~ The Stormraven enters play and moves alongside the tanks on the right flank. All tanks move towards the left away from the Wraithguard while the Bikes continue towards the Wraithknight.
~ The Raven knocks a wound off the Wraithknight and kills three Banshees. The Raider explodes the Falcon (for one VP) which takes two dragons with it and knocks a wound off the Spirit Seer. The Predator leaves the Wraithknight on one wound while remaining fire removes a further three Banshees and three Guardians.

Eldar
~ Renewer again restores a wound on the Wraithknight but at the expense of the Seer’s remaining wound (Perils of the Warp). Doom fails but Guide is again placed on the Wraithguard and the Warlocks cast Conceal once more.
~ The Hemlock enters and heads towards the BA tanks while the Dragons and Wraithguard head towards the Bikes. The Banshees move toward Mephiston while DA2 continue their advance.
~ The Bike is killed by the Wraithguard and Mephiston is sucked into the warp by the Hemlock’s Heavy D-Scythe for Kill the Warlord. Combined fire wrecks the Bolterback while everything else runs, all this despite Shield working.

Turn Four
BA
~As the Raven advances towards the Wraithknight, the Scouts jump out and head towards a nearby objective. LRAS embark inside the Raider and all tanks advance again.
~ Combined fire finally kills the Wraithknight (1 VP), on Wraithguard is destroyed whilst the Farseer goes to ground. The Scouts run onto their objective.

Eldar
~ Both Guardians cast Conceal while the Farseer Guides the Wraithguard once more. Both the Wraithguard and the Dragons head towards the BA tanks.
~ Shield fails to cast. Combined fire from the Dragons and the Wraithguard explode the Predator (1VP).

Turn Five
BA
~ LRAS exit the Raider while the Plaserback heads towards the third objective and CRAS disembark. The Raven heads towards the remaining Eldar blob.
~ The Raven kills six from DA2 and one Guardian while the remaining firepower kill three Wraithguard and four Dragons

Eldar
~ LRAS is Doomed and both Guardians successfully cast Conceal again.
~ DA2 and the Guardians tuck more into cover around their objective. The remaining Banshee moves towards the Scout’s objective while the Hemlock and Wraithguard advance on CRAS.
~ Banshee runs into range to contest the Scout objective, DA2 run towards LRAS and following Shield failing to cast, four die to Shurikan fire from both DA2 and the Farseer. The Hemlock takes out one from CRAS while the Wraithguard snipe Corbulo.

However it should have been different as the Eldar player thought contesting was 6” so we called it a draw...

Deployment
The Scouring, Dawn of War, six objectives placed as follows: both 2s were are the short board edge to the left of the BA’s deployment zone, both 3s were on the long board edge that was the BA’s deployment zone, the 4 was quite central and the 1 was in cover near the Eldar board edge. The board itself has three wooded hills that count as mystical forests.
Farseer rolls Eldritch Storm, Guide and Fortune
BA Warlord Trait is a waste of time, Eldar get to re-roll all 1s to hit in the shooting phase once per game.

The BA castle up with the Razorbacks at the forefront and the JDC with Astorath are placed in cover behind them. Both Attack Bikes and the Land Speeder occupy the left flank while the DCD and Pod is in reserve. BA are due to have the first turn.

In response the Eldar deploy their Guardians opposite the Razors and in cover on their board edge. This forest is a Overgrown Spinethorn meaning they get a 2+ save against grenades... Everything else fans out behind that hill that is just in front of their deployment zone. From nearest to farthest (BA persepective): Wraithguard -> Avatar -> Fire Dragons -> DA1 -> Farseer -> -> DA2. The Striking Scorpions infiltrate into hill that is in the BA deployment zone. This hill is an Ironbark forest which meant that they got a 3+ cover save...

Turn one

BA
~ With no one falling to the Red Thirst, the Drop Pod lands near DA2 on the far-right flank and the DCD disembarks. Both are currently in cover from the majority of the Eldar. Both Razors and JDC advance towards the centre of the board while the bikes and Speeder move up (near to leftmost of the 2 objectives) the BA left flank.
~ Thinking it will be safe, the DCD and pod manage to kill two from DA2 while the Speeder kills three Guardians. The bikes turbo boost towards the Guardians.

Eldar
~ The Farseer casts Fortune of the Wraithguard and Guide on the Dragons.
~ The Scorpions continue through their forest while DA1 move onto objective 1 triggering another Ironbark Forest... They are joined by the Wraithguard while the Avatar and the Dragons move towards the DCD.
~ The Guardians knock a HP of the Speeder, while the Dragons use Battle Focus to close the range on the DCD and explode it for First Blood, while the Avatar summons his Wailing Doom to explode the Drop Pod.

VP – E:2, BA:2

Turn Two

BA
~ The bikes continue towards the Guardians while the tanks head towards the bulk of the Eldar. FDC disembark and the Speeder holds back.
~ To combined fire, two more Guardians perish and two Wraithguard collapse.

Eldar
~The Farseer casts Guide on the Wriathguard
~ As the Wraithguard reposition to face the oncoming hoard of DC, DA1, the Avatar, FD and DA2 start moving through the cover towards the action. The Scorpions now break cover and head across no man’s land.
~ The Farseer casts Eldritch Storm at the JDC and manage to kill one before the rest of the army open fire. Five from FDC die to combined fire from the Wraithguard and DA1 while the Scorpions use Battle Focus to be able to pick off one from JDC and the Guardians kill a bike for a bonus VP. Everything else runs to close the gap.

VP – E:3, BA:2

Turn Three

BA
~ Both DC move closer to the Eldar while the Speeder and Razors move into better firing positions. The remaining bike moves closer to the Guardians.
~ Combined fire results in six dead members of DA1 and another two Guardians die to the Bike.
~ The Bike assaults the remaining Guardians who lose one of their numbers and flee off the board. The FDC charge the Wraithguard and manage to collapse another construct while the JDC are too far away to pull off a charge...

Eldar
~ The Farseer casts Guide on the Dragons and Fortune on the Scorpions.
~ The Scorpions then advance towards JDC along with both DA squads, whole the Avatar, Farseer and Dragons head towards the FDC.
~ Using the Avatar’s Warlord Trait five members of JDC die to combined fire while the Dragons also manage to melt Astorath for Kill the Warlord.
~ The Avatar proceeds to charge the FDC in combat with the Wraithguard. With one Hammer of Wrath attack and six normal attacks the Avatar manages to miss the lot...

VP – E:4, BA:2

Turn Four

BA
~ Both Razors reverse away from the main fight while the Attack Bike closes on the Farseer who is out in the open.
~ The tanks and Speeder manage to kill three members of DA1, while the Attack Bike misses it’s target...
~ The final member of the Death Company dies in glorious battle with the Avatar.

Eldar
~ Guide is cast on the Wraithguard and despite taking a wound from Perils of the Warp, the Farseer proceeds to cast Fortune on the Dragons.
~ The Avatar advances towards the Razors with the Wraithguard in tow, while DA2 and the Scorpions head towards objectives 3 and 4 respectively. The Dragons make their way over to the lone bike.
~ The Dragons kill the remaining bike for a further bonus VP while the Avatar summons the Wailing Doom to knock the Plasma Gun off the Plaserback.
~ The Avatar charges but again fluffs his lines by only managing to leave the tank Shaken and with 1HP remaining.

VP – E:5, BA:2

Turn Five

BA
~ The RAS disembark and move towards objective 2 while the Speeder moves towards the nearest 3 point objective. Both tanks cover the RAS from fire.
~ The Speeder turbo boosts onto the 3 objective while the RAS run the final few steps. Both Razor fire is ineffective.

Eldar
~ Fortune is again cast on the Dragons while Guide goes to the Wraithguard
~ The Dragons, Wraithguard and Avatar move towards the Razors while the Scorpions about face and go after the Speeder. Both DA squads are now on objectives.
~ The Wraithguard explode the Plaserback while the Avatar knocks the Heavy Bolter off the Bolterback.
~ In combat the Avatar enters stomp mode and explodes the Bolterback.

VP – E:9, BA:5

Turn Six

BA
~ The Speeder moves to put a bit more range between itself and the Scorpions, but enough to remain on the objective while the RAS huddle up in cover by their objective
~ The Speeder misses its six shots against the Scorpions while the RAS miss their massed Bolt Pistol and Krak Grenade fire at the encroaching Avatar

Eldar
~ Whilst Guide fails to be cast, the Scorpions again receive Fortune.
~ The Dragons and Scorpions move towards the Speeder while the Wraithguard continue towards the RAS.
~ One RAS dies to the Wraithguard while the Speeder jinks itself out of danger.
~ The Avatar again fails its charge on the RAS but takes no damage from Overwatch, but the Speeder is crippled by the Scorpions in combat for another VP and Linebreaker.

While there is a turn seven, it is basically the Avatar charging the RAS and slaying them to a man.

First things first, I really do apologies for the "gaming board" and the scenery, but you do what you can! Also for the quality of the photos, but I'll try better with those next time.

Chaos Lord gets the Exalted Champion Warlord Trait (re-roll Chaos Boons), Mephiston gets “Master of Offence” (Gains Curious Charge in the CSM deployment zone)
The Chaos Lord gets seven rolls on the Chaos Boon table due to rolling Multiple Rewards twice. The following boons are attained: Masochism (Feel No Pain USR), Crystalline Body (+1T), Mind of Metal (Adamantium Will), Lifetaker (melee attacks have the Instant Death USR), Arcane Occulum (+1BS) with the remaining two being unworthy offerings. The TDA Aspiring Champion is also deemed unworthy.
Sorcerer rolls Invisibility, Psychic Shriek and Puppetmaster
Both squads of RAS have Red Thirst

BA deploy the Landraider containing the Death Company deploys directly “south” of the Relic. The Predator, Bolterback (containing the Librarian and the RAS with the Melta Gun (LRAS)), the Plaserback (containing Corbulo and the other RAS (CRAS)) and Mephiston line up on the east flank while the Whirlwind hides behind a ruin on the west flank. The Attack Bikes also deploy near the Whirlwind. The Stormraven and the Scouts remain in reserve.

From left to right CSM deploy a backline of Cultists (CultB) and the Havocs behind the Aegis Defence Line, with a single Obliterator just in front. A second line from left to right is two Obliterators, CSMA, CSMB (that contains the Sorcerer) and the other squad of Cultists (CultA). The Helldrake and the Terminators with their lord is in reserve.

With the roll for Seize the Initiative declined, Blood Angels are to go first.

Turn one

BA
~ The Drop Pod lands by CultA and the Fragioso lines up to shoot them. The Bikes advance along the west flank whilst the tanks advance along the east flank. Mephiston manifests Wings of Sanguinius and moves towards the Relic and behind cover and the Land Raider also trundles forward towards the Relic. The Quad Gun then fires at the Fragioso causing 1HP of damage.
~ The Fragioso kills many from CultA and even with other units adding to the damage they hold with just five models remaining. Other notable fire sees an Obliterator on the west flank take a wound.

CSM
~ CultB, the two Obliterators and the Havocs hold position and CultA moves into cover. CSMA, CSMB and the single Obliterator advance towards the enemy.
~ CSMB knock a HP off the Fragioso before the single Obliterator explodes it for First Blood. CSMA knock a HP off the Drop Pod while the Havocs manage to knock a HP off the Predator.
~ CSMA fail a charge on the Drop Pod.

BA: 0-1 :CSM

Turn Two

BA
~ The Scouts arrive on the western flank and push into the CSM deployment zone, flanking CultB. The Bikes again advance along the west flank – as do the tanks on the eastern flank – while everything else holds position.
~ The Scouts kill three Cultists from CultB. The Land Raider and the Whirlwind combine to kill four from CSMA, the Predator kills the single Obliterator and the Plaserback knocks a wound off the Quad Gun. The Bolterback removes a traitor from CSMB and the Bikes kill one obliterator and wound another.

CSM
~ Invisibility is successfully cast on CSMA
~ The Helldrake enters play and performs a Vector Strike on the Scouts causing two fatalities. The Terminators teleport behind Mephiston and CultB moves towards the Scouts. CultA retreats further into the CSM deployment zone, CSMA advances towards the Relic and CSMB advances towards the BA tanks.
~ Shield of Sanguinius fails to cast. Puppetmaster is cast on the Predator who penetrates the Plaserback’s armour and causes a Shaken result. The Havocs and CSMB combine to wreck the Plaserback and the Helldrake’s Baleflamer roasts the Scouts.

BA: 0-1 :CSM

Turn Three

BA
~ The Stormraven enters play and zooms towards the Relic. The Death Company disembark from the Land Raider and advance towards the Relic and Mephiston again manifests Wings of Sanguinius and moves to the Death Company’s position. The Bikes close the distance on the remaining Obliterator and the Land Raider brings its weapons to bear on the Terminators. The Bolterback, Predator and CRAS all advance up the field and finally, the Quad Gun unloads on the Stormraven causing a Shaken result.
~ The Stormraven snap fires its weapons at CSMA causing one wound before using Power of the Machine Spirit to launch two Bloodstrike Missiles at the Helldrake causing it to not only explode, but to kill three from CultB with flaming debris. The Bikes finish off the Obliterator and the Land Raider removes two Terminators from play.
~ Mephiston charges CSMA and the Aspiring Champion issues a challenge, one which was over before it had begun. The Death Company also charge CSMA and kill four for one loss. Due to the Icon of Vengeance, they hold due to Fearless.

CSM
~ Invisibility is successfully case on CSMA
~ The Terminators advance towards CRAS while CSMB advances towards the BA tanks. Everything else holds.
~ Shield of Sanguinius is successfully cast. Puppetmaster is cast on the Bolterback but it fails to wound CRAS. The Burning Brand of Skalathrax, however, does claim one casualty. The Havocs explode the Stormraven.
~ The Terminators charge CRAS. The Lord easily dispatches the Veteran Sergeant but doesn’t get a boon, whilst the Terminators slaughter the RAS. Corbulo survives and holds his ground. In the other combat, Mephiston kills the icon bearer and suffers a wound for Perils of the Warp.

BA: 0-1: CSM

Turn Four

~ One bike heads towards the Quad Gun while the other moves towards the Relic. The Bolterback fails a Tank Shock on CSMB and the Predator moves across to a different position. Everything else holds.

CSM
~ The Lord advances towards the Land Raider.
~ Shield of Sanguinius is successfully cast but Puppetmaster fails to work on the Bolterback. The Burning Brand of Skalathrax roasts one Death Company marine.
~ The Lord assaults the Death Company and dispatches them with ease.

CSM
~ CSMB rally and the Lord continues his advance on the Land Raider.
~ Shield of Sanguinius is successfully cast, as is Puppetmaster on the Predator; however it fails to harm the Land Raider. The Havocs kill two from LRAS.
~ The Lord successfully charges the Land Raider and it explodes. Mephiston passes his pinning test and appears at the back of the “rubble”.

Turn Seven

BA
~ Mephiston moves away from the Lord carrying the Relic deep into the BA deployment zone. The Whirlwind cuts across to block a direct charge from the Lord. Everything else gets closer to the Lord apart from LRAS who move towards CSMB.
~ One marine from CSMB dies and everything else shoots the Lord causing a further wound.
~ LRAS fail their charge on CSMB.

CSM
~ The Lord moves towards Mephiston and is now well inside the BA deployment zone (Linebreaker) and CSMB close on LRAS.
~ Shield of Sanguinius is successfully cast, but one from LRAS still perishes.
~ CSMB charge LRAS and lose one of their number to Overwatch fire. The Sergeant dies in a challenge with the Sorcerer, the remaining RAS is cut down and the Librarian takes a wound. In return, three wounds are caused on CSMB resulting in a draw. The Lord is 9” away from Mephiston but fails his charge with a roll of eight.

And has one line of sight (LoS) blocking terrain piece in the middle of square 1/2/3/4 and a ruin in square 6. There is a hill that runs along the board edge and the edge of square 2 and 3, and, there are also woods in the corners of squares 1 and 4 and on the board edge of squares 3 and 6. Square 1 has a three point objective by its wood, square 2 has a one point objective by the tip of the hill and square three has none. Square 4 has a four point objective by the LoS blocking terrain piece, square five has a two point objective near this LoS blocking piece and finally, square six has a two point objective in its ruin and a three point objective in the middle of the square (see deployment photos). Mysterious objectives are being used, as are mysterious woods.

BA deploy behind the ruin with the two Razorbacks and the JDC just behind them. The Librarian rides with the RAS. The Attack Bikes are hiding behind a small piece of terrain the south of the tanks and the DCD is in reserve with the Drop Pod.

The Eldar deploy a line running north to south of WS1 (containing DA1), WS2 (containing DA2) and the Wraithknight, with the Guardians just in front and a little off centre. The Autarch in placed into reserve and the Rangers infiltrate to a wall beside the LoS blocking terrain.

Warlord traits offer very little with Astorath getting Inspiring Presence (anything within 12” uses his leadership) and the Autarch getting Falcon’s Swiftness (+1 run). No Blood Angel suffers from the Red Thirst this game and the Night Fighting rules are not in play.
With the roll for Seize the Initiative declined, Blood Angels are to go first.

Turn one

BA
~ The Drop Pod lands in the centre of the board to give some cover and the DCD moves behind the large terrain piece. The Tanks, JDC and the bikes advance on the enemy using the Drop Pod for extra cover
~ Everything opens up on the Rangers and as the smoke clears only three have perished. The bikes Turbo Boost up the hill to get into range.

Eldar
~ The Wraithknight advances to the south of the LoS terrain along with the Guardians. WS1 and WS2 strafe north to get into decent firing positions. This triggers the one point objective but it is nothing of note.
~ Shield of Sanguinius works. Both Wave Serpents open up on the tanks and do no damage. Only the Wraithknight can do something of note this turn and takes a wound off the lead Attack Bike.

Turn Two

BA
~ The DCD advances on the Guardians while the tanks, JDC and the bikes head towards the Pod.
~ The Plaserback shoots WS1 but causes no damage while the rest of the army tries again to remove the Rangers who, after having Gone to Ground, lose only one of their number.
~ The DCD fails its charge on the Guardians by 1”.

Eldar
~ No Autarch this turn. The Wraithknight again advances while the Guardians retreat toward their board edge and away from the encroaching DCD. Again WS1 strafes while WS2 advances on the BA armour.
~ Shield of Sanguinius again works and the Guardians move onto their board edge. Both Attack Bikes die to the fire of WS1 for 2 VP (First Blood, Fast Attack) while WS2 explodes the Plaserback causing one fatality to the JDC and one to the RAS passengers. Their pinning test it passed. The Wraithknight then opens up on the RAS killing them all and wounding the Librarian once.

Turn Three

BA
~ The DCD moves around the LoS terrain towards the Rangers and Eldar tanks while the JDC also advance towards them. The Librarian gets into cover. The Bolterback also advances.
~ The Rangers again Go to Ground and only lose one of their number. The DCD pops smoke and the Bolterback kills three Guardians who turn tail and flee off the board.
~ The DCD again fails its charge, this time of the Rangers but the JDC manage and annihilate them.

Eldar
~ The Autarch deepstrikes in behind the Librarian. DA2 disembark from WS2 into cover. DA1 disembark from WS1 into a nearby wood which turns out to be a Ironbark Forest (3+ cover save). The Wraithknight moves close to the two point objective which is booby trapped.
~ Shield of Sanguinius is successfully cast. Two HPs are removed from the Bolterback and it is Shaken for the next turn. DA2 kill three from JDC and WS2 finishes the job, while the Wraithknight knocks a HP off the DCD. The Autarch misses.
~ The Autarch moves away 9” while the Wraithknight charges the DCD. The impact knocks off another HP before it is wrecked with regular attacks.

BA: 0-2: Eldar

Turn Four

BA
~ Everything remaining again advances (Linebreaker is active) while Astorath moves towards the Autarch.
~ Astorath knocks a wound off the Autarch and combined bolt fire kills two from DA1. The Librarian then casts Fear of the Darkness causing them to flee 9” towards their board edge.
~ Astorath charges the Autarch and defeats him to claim a secondary objective (Slay the Warlord).

Eldar
~ DA1 fail to regroup and flee from the battlefield. The Wraithknight moves slightly away from Astorath to get a better firing position.
~ Shield of Sanguinius again works but the Wraithknight scores a wound on Asotrath. The Bolterback is wrecked by WS1 and the Librarian Goes to Ground.
~ The Wraithknight charges Asotrath and squishes him for Slay the Warlord.

Where there is a hill on the table edges of board 2 & 5, and a hill on the table edges that split board 1 & 4 and 3 & 6. Hills 1&4 and 3&6 have an Imperial Bastion, whilst there is a Shyshield landing pad in the centre of the board. All three are deactivated. To reach the battlements of the Bastion, one must be in range of the access point, to get on top of the Shyshield, one must approach the legs. There is a broken barricade around the Shyshield and in the remaining spaces, there are some rocks and/or foliage.

Objective 1 is on the battlements of Bastion 1-4, Objective 2 is in the centre of board 5, Objective 3 is on top of the Shyshield and 12” away from Objective 2, Objective 4 is in the centre of board 3, Objective 5 is in the rocks that reside in board 6, while Objective 6 is in the rocks that reside in board 1. These are mysterious objectives.

Guardians -> Avatar -> WL1 -> WL2 -> Wave1 -> Wave2-> WK. The Farseer and Warlocks are behind the WLs, whilst the Cimson Hunter and the Warp Spiders are held in reserve. Mysterious objective 6 is discovered by the Guardians to be nothing of note.

The Blood Angels castle up opposite the Avatar as so:
Bolterback -> Land Raider ->Plaserback -> Predator
Whirlwind -> Damocles
Corbulo rides with the Death Company. Mephiston and the FLD are placed inside the Stormraven and are held in reserve, along with the Land Speeder and both Attack Bikes. The Scouts infiltrate out of sight behind Bastion 1-4. The Plaserback discovered mysterious objective 2 to be nothing of note. No Blood Angels fall to the Red Thirst and Eldar have the first turn.

~ Wave2 advances down the 3-6 flank whilst the WK advances on mysterious objective 4 (Sabotaged). Both WLs head toward the Skyshield with the Avatar and Farseer in tow. Wave1 advances cautiously and the Guardians try to draw a bead on the Scouts.
~ Fortune is cast, but a psychic backlash takes a wound from the Farseer.
~ Guardians roll low for Battle Focus and run back into cover, only to wreck the Bolterback (Firstblood). The WK takes 1HP from the Plaserback and its Twin-linked Plasma guns stop working.

~ The Scouts run into Bastion 1-4 and activate mysterious objective 1 (Targeting Relay). Two Guardians perish under Whirlwind fire while Wave1 Jinks away any damage. RASm runs towards their objective. The Orbital Bombardment misses the Farseer.
~ The DC charge the Avatar, losing one of their number to Overwatch fire. The Avatar takes a wound off Corbulo whilst the DC remove four wounds from the daemon.

Eldar

~ Tactical Objectives 16 (Secure Objective 6), 44 (Ascendency) and 52 (Blood and Guts) are drawn.
~ Crimson Hunter arrives on board 1’s table edge and zooms to board 4. WS1 materialise on board 4 by the Whirlwind. The Guardians consolidate around their objective, the WLs head towards the DC and Wave1 moves onto the Skyshield and activates mysterious objective 3 (Skyfire Nexus).
~ Drain is cast upon the Death Company, as is Fortune on the Avatar.
~ The Crimson Hunter knocks 1HP off the Land Raider, three Scouts perish to Guardian fire and WS1 wreck the Whirlwind. Wave2 wrecks the Predator while RASm goes to ground behind a barricade.
~ Corbulo and a DC marine are smashed aside by the Land Raider then the WLs charge in. One casualty is from HoW before they swat the Death Company before them leaving a sole marine behind.
~ The Eldar claim Tactical Objectives 16 and 44 (4VP).

Blood Angels
~ Tactical Objecties 41 (Recon), 43 (Hold the Line) and 51 (Overwhelming Firepower) are drawn.
~ The Stormraven flies on from the edge of board 6 and holds position behind Wave2. One Attack Bike and the Land Speeder also come on here. The Plaserback advances along the flank of the Skyshield. The Damocles performs a Tank Shock on the WS1, who flee 5”. The Land Raider reverses to its board edge.
~ The Plaserback Turbo Boosts towards the Farseer. The Land Raider immobilises Wave1 before firing it’s Twin-linked Heavy Bolters at the Guardians who lose three of their number and run 7”.
~ The final the member of the Death Company is removed, and the victors consolidate towards the Skyshield.
~ The Blood Angels claim Tactical Objective 41 (1VP) and discard 43.

Eldar – 8:1 – Blood Angels

~Tactical Objectives 13 (Secure Objective 3), 32 (Secure Objective 2), 52 (Blood and Guts) drawn.
~ Whilst the Guardians run off the board, WS1 rally. WS2 arrives but mishaps, and goes into Ongoing Reserves. The WK moves towards the Stormraven, the WLs and Avatar move towards the Plaserback and DA1 disembarks from Wave1 on the Skyshield.
~ Fortune is cast on the Avatar.
~ One from RASm dies to fire from DA1 while WS1 knock 2HP off the Damocles. Wave1 proceeds to knock 1HP off the Stormraven while Wave1 kill two more from RASm who fall back 6”. Meanwhile, RASf has a sole survivor after the Avatar explodes the Plaserback and the WLs douse the emerging squad with flames.
~ The WLs fail their charge and WS1 jump 8” away from the Damocles.

Blood Angels

~ AB2 arrives from board edge 6. AB1 moves behind Wave2 while the Stormraven enters hover mode allowing Mephiston and the FLD to disembark. RASm embark on the Land Raider which moves towards Objective 2, the lone member of RASf advances on the Farseer and the Damocles attempts to Tank Shock WS1, but they see it coming this time.
~ Warp Speed is cast on Mephiston.
~ Combined fire from the ABs and the Stormraven wreck Wave2 (allowing DA2 to spill out onto Objective 5) and PotMS allows the Stormraven to knock a wound off the WK. Three from WS1 die to Land Raider fire and they flee 4”, while RASf blow up a Warlock with a Krak Grenade.
~ The lone marine from RASf charges the Seer Council and hacks down another Warlock whilst Mephiston and the FLD charge the WK, only for Mephiston to lose a wound.
~ Tactical Objective 22 and 51 are claimed, while 32 is stolen by the Blood Angels this turn (3VP). 46 is discarded.

~ WS2 emerge in the centre of board 4, the Avatar advances under the Skyshield towards the Land Raider and the WLs head towards Mephiston. Both DA squads consolidate on their objectives.
~ WS2 kill one Scout while the Avatar uses Battle Focus to close the gap between itself and the Land Raider, before using the Wailing Doom to knock 1HP and one of its twin-linked Lascannons off.
~ RASf takes a wound off the Farseer while the clash of the titans by Bastion 3-6 is a stand off. WS1 jumps towards the Scout in Bastion 1-4.
~ The Blood Angels steal 11 and 21 (2VP)

Blood Angels

~ Warp Speed and Force are cast on Mephiston, while Enfeeble is cast on the WK.
~ Having Jinked last turn, the Stormraven only manages to knock 1HP off the Crimson Hunter. The Land Raider finally banishes the Avatar.
~ The ABs charge DA2 and take a wound on Overwatch. In the ensuing combat, a Dire Avenger dies as does the wounded Attack Bike. Mephiston annihilates the Wraithknight, who then consolidates onto Objective four (which doesn’t detonate).
~ Objective 14 is claimed by the Eldar (1VP) and 15 is claimed by the Blood Angels (1VP)

The board is a Realm of Battle board with six tiles of the order:

In the centre of the board is an inactive Skyshield Landing Pad. At each corner of the board is a hill. Tiles A and F each have an inactive Bastion (denoted Bas5 and Bas6 respectively). Tile C has a ruin and Tile D has some low level terrain. Other than that, there's a smattering of Aegis Line walls dotted about the place. Cover is either 4+ or 5+.

In Tile A, objective five is placed to the south of the Bastion while objectives 3 and 4 are placed to the northwest and southeast of the Sky Shield respectively. Tile C has objective one to the east of the ruin, Tile D has objective two to the south of its main terrain piece and finally, Tile F has objective 6 to the north of its Bastion.

In addition to Force, the Librarian rolls on Divination gaining Foreboding and Scrier’s Gaze to complement Prescience. The Spirit Seer rolled on the Runes of Battle gaining Quicken/Restrain and Protect/Jinx to compliment Conceal/Reveal.

The Librarian’s Warlord Trait was Soulwarden (Adamantium Will), whilst the Avatar’s trait was Ambush of Blades.

Winning the role off, the Eldar deploy first. In a horizontal line running from the long board edge DEF to the short edge CF they deploy as follows: Guardians and Spirit Seer (G-SS) -> Avatar -> WG2 -> Bas6 (which contains the second squad of Guardians on the battlements) -> WG1, with both the Wraithlords in behind them. This triggers Objective 6 to be a Grav-wave Generator. The Warp Spiders and Crimson Hunter start in reserve.

Leaving the Stormraven (and it’s Scout cargo) and the Fragioso (in the Lucius Pod) in Reserve, the Blood Angels deploy next. With the majority castling up behind Bas5, just the Predator, Plaserback and Attack Bike take up a flanking position behind an Aegis wall. Finally, the Vindicare is placed in Aegis cover just in front of the BA lines. The Blood Angels are gifted first turn.

~ The following Tactical Objectives (TO) are drawn: 53 (No Prisoners), 62 (Witch Hunter), 51 (Overwhelming Firepower), 31 (Secure Objective 1), 65 (Demolitions) and BA15 (Swift Advance – Obj 1 & 6 nominated).

~ The Lucius Pod lands in Tile E, to the south of the Skyshield. The Fragioso stays embarked while the tanks and bikes advance under its shadow. Objective 5 is revealed to be a Targeting Relay.

~ Not only does the Librarian fail to get a power off during the Psychic Phase, he also suffers a wound from the relic, Galian’s Staff. :wallbash:

~ The bikes and Razors turbo boost closer towards the Pod. The Predator and Dreadnought unload into G-SS, but despite many casualties, they hold firm. The Assassin takes a wound off the SS.

Eldar

~ Six TOs are drawn and remain hidden (for now)

~ WG1, WL1 and WL2 head towards Obj1, while WG2 heads off towards Obj4. The Avatar advances on the Pod while G-SS move back towards Bas6.

~ Reveal is successfully cast on the Pod (thereby nullifying all Stealth bonuses) and Protect is cast on G-SS.

~ WG2 explodes the Pod (First Blood, 1VP) to reveal the Fragioso, only for the Avatar to explode it with the Wailing Doom. The Bike Squadron’s Attack Bike suffers a wound from the Guardians on Bas6, who then reform into better firing positions using Battle Focus.

~ TO 24 (Claim Objective 4) is cashed in for 1VP.

~ TO 65 is discarded.

~ The bikes reform to get a better firing arc on the Avatar, while the Predator advances into cover (triggering Obj2 – Sabotaged!). The AB and Bolterback advance along the board edge while the Plaserback runs alongside the Skyshield and disgorges the Tactical Squad into cover.

~ Foreboding is successfully cast on the Bike Squadron.

~ Grav fire from the bikes takes three wounds off the Avatar, while the Tactical Squad removes two of WG2’s number. The Vindicare assassinates the SS and a further Guardian from that squad to lost.

~ TOs 51, 53 and 62 are cashed in for 3VP.

Eldar

~ The Crimson Hunter enters play and lines up a broadside on the Predator’s right flank. WG1 reach and trigger Obj1 (Sabotaged!), the Avatar moves behind the Plaserback and both the WLs head towards the Skyshield. The remains G-SS cluster up around Bas6.

~ The Crimson Hunter knocks two HPs off the Predator, shaking it. Combined fire sees the Tactical Squad take four casualties, with just the Plasma gunner remaining.

~ The Avatar needs 6” to charge the Plasma gunner. A 2 and a 1 are rolled. The dice are re-rolled (Fleet) to give a 2 and a 1... :teehee:

~ TOs 11 (Claim Objective 1) and 31 (Claim Objective 1) are cashed in for one point apiece, while 44 (Ascendency) is cashed in for 3VP.

~ TOs 24 (Claim Objective 4) and 34 (Claim Objective 4) are generated.

~ The only movement is the Tanks and AB moving further forward.

~ Scrier’s Gaze is successfully cast. TO BA15 is discarded and 56 (Harness the Warp) is generated.

~ Grav and Plasma fire combine to kill the Avatar (Slay the Warlord, 1VP), WG2 are destroyed (leaving the Plasma gunner to claim Obj 4) and the Bolterback kills two from G-SS who break towards the board edge.

~ TOs 24, 34 and 56 are cashed in for 3VP total. The bomb on Obj2 explodes killing a member of the Bike Squadron.

Eldar

~ WS1 enters play and manifest behind the Assassin. G-SS run off the board while the CH moves back into the Predator’s side arc. WG1 now move back towards Obj6, WL2 heads towards the Plaserback while WL1 advances towards the Skyshield.

~ The CH wrecks the Predator and WS1 dispatch the Assassin before Battle Focusing towards Obj5.

~ Both WLs charge the Plaserback, wrecking it through Hammer of Wrath attacks alone. The Warp Spiders then jump onto Obj5.

~ TOs 15 (Secure Objective 5) and 22 (Secure Objective 2) are cashed in for 2VP.

Turn Four

~ TOs 35 (Claim Objective 5) and 61 (Kingslayer) are drawn

~ The Stormraven finally arrives and zooms to the western side of the Skyshield, with the Scouts bailing out near to Obj5. The Librarian detaches from the Bike Squadron and also advances on Obj5 while the bikes advance on WL2. The DC disembarks from the Bolterback by Bas6. Meanwhile, there are now BA units in the Eldar deployment zone (Linebreaker, 1VP).

~ The SR shoots down the CH and assists the bikes in killing WL2. One Guardian in Bas6 dies from DC bolt fire.

~ The Librarian charges the Spiders on Obj5, killing one from HoW. With no wounds in return, WS1 flees the objective.

~ TOs 35 and 61 are cashed in (2VP).

Eldar

~ WS1 regroup whilst WS2 arrive behind them near to the AD board edge in Tile D. WL1 and WG1 advance on the Bolterback and the Guardians move out of the door of the Bastion to get a better firing line on the DC.

~ The Guardians fell three DC while the Wraithguard take a single HP off the Bolterback. At the other end of the battlefield, WS1 fell the Librarian for Slay the Warlord (1VP) and WS2 kill a single Scout.

~ WS2 jump away, WS1 jump onto Obj5 and WL1 charges and kills the AB, only to suffer a wound in the process.

Turn Five

Blood Angels

~ TO BA14 (Decapitating Strike) is generated.

~ The Scouts advance on WS1, the bikes advance on WL1, the DC advance on the Guardians (who remained outside the Bastion) and the Bolterback trundled off towards Obj1. The SR turns and heads towards the CF board edge.

~ The DC kills two Guardians, while the SR kills three from WG1. The Scouts shoot a Spider before the bikes finish off the Wraithlord.

~ The DC charges into the Guardians, only to be cut down from Overwatch fire. The Scouts also charge WS1 and with both units losing one from their number, the Spiders jump away towards the Skyshield allowing the Scouts to consolidate into cover.

~ TOs 14 and 31 are cashed in for 2VP.

Eldar

~ TO 63 (Scout the Skies) is discarded.

~ The Guardians and WG2 converge on the Objective by Bas6. The sole survivor of WS1 jumps towards the Plasma gunner under the Shyshield. WS2 jump towards the Scouts.

~ WS Battle Focus to get a better firing position, before killing the remaining squad members. WS1 kills the lone Tactical marine.

~ WS2 moves behind the Aegis, WS1 gets into cover behind the Shyshield, and gets within range of Obj3.

The board is a Realm of Battle board with six tiles of the order:

In the centre of the board is an inactive Skyshield Landing Pad (SLP). At the external corners of A and D is a hill, whilst there is also a hill running between the boarder of C and F. The rest of the board is covered in patches of forest. Cover is 5+ with the exception of the SLP which is a 4+.

Objective 3 is placed on the SLP with Objective 6 to the north in Tile B and Objective 2 to the south in Tile E. In Tile C on the inner corner where it meets the other three tiles, is Objective 1 while Objective 4 sits on the hill in Tile F. Finally, Objective 5 is placed in Tile D, near the border to Tile A and its internal corner.

In addition to Force, the Furioso Librarian Dreadnought (FLD) rolls on Sanguinary gaining Wings of Sanguinius and Blood Lance to complement Quickening. Mephiston compliments his Force and Sanguine Sword by rolling Haemorrhage and Life Leach on Biomancy. The Spirit Seer rolled on the Runes of Battle gaining Enchance/Drain and Embolden/Horrify to compliment Conceal/Reveal.

The FLD’s Warlord Trait was Soulwarden (Adamantium Will), whilst the Spirit Seer’s trait was Ambush of Blades (once per game re-roll of 1s to wound within 12”).

Winning the role off, the Eldar nominate the Blood Angels to deploy first, who leave the Terminators, Stormraven (and its cargo of Mephiston and the FLD), and the Assault Squad (RAS) (in the Drop Pod) in Reserve. The Predator and Vindicator take their left flank, with the Tactical Squad occupying Objective 5 in the trees. These are screened by the Redeemer. The Bikes are placed next and finally, the Cerberus occupies a good firing lane.

The first Guardian squad (G1) deploy in a wood near the Eldar board edge in Tile B. The first squad of Wraithguard (WG1) deploys inside the first Wave Serpent (WS1) just behind G1, whilst the first squad of Dire Avengers (DA1) deploy adjacent to them inside WS2. The second Guardian squad that contains the Spirit Seer (SS-G2) occupy a wood near Objective 1 and these are backed up by WG2 inside WS3. DA2 deploys in the corner and inside of WS4 while the Wraithknight stands on the hill that straddles Tiles C and F. The Crimson Hunter starts in reserve.

The Blood Angels aren’t challenged for first turn.

Turn One

~ The following Tactical Objectives (TO) are drawn: BA11 (Valour of the Angels), 41 (recon), 43 (Hold the Line), 44 (Ascendency), 55 (Psychological Warfare) and 62 (Witch Hunter)

~ The Drop Pod lands in Tile E behind WS3 and disgorges the RAS into the rear facings and within Melta range. The Cerberus strafes to the right to line up a shot on the Wraithknight while the Bikes advance on it. The Redeemer inches forward towards G1, as do the Predator and Vindicator on the left flank.

~ The Vindicator unloads onto G1, with the Predator and Redeemer clearing up (First Blood). The Bikes knock a wound off the Wraithknight whilst the Drop Pod claims a kill in SS-G2. Both the RAS and Cerberus miss their intended targets.... 0.o

Eldar

~ WS1 moves towards the SLP whilst WS2 moves into cover from the two encroaching tanks and onto Objective 6. WS3 and the Wraithknight advance on the Bikes whilst WS4 turns to face the RAS and DA2 also disembark bring the RAS into line of sight.

~ Horrify and Drain are cast on the Bikes, whilst Conceal is activated on SS-G2.

~ DA2 and SS-G2 combine to bring down the RAS while WS4 knocks 2 HP off the Drop Pod. WS2 kills four of the Tactical Marines skulking on Objective 5, but the remaining chap holds. WS1 moves onto the SLP to claim Objective 1 and the Wraithknight knocks a wound off the Attack Bike.

~ The Wraithknight kills the Attack Bike and two Bikes in combat, but remains locked with the Sergeant.

~ TOs 16 (Claim Objective 6), 23 (Claim Objective 3), 33 (Claim Objective 3) and 51 (Overwhelming Forepower) are cashed in for 1VP apiece, .while 56 (Harness the Warp) is cashed in for 3 VP 0.o

~ TO 41 is discarded.

~ The Stormraven Gunship enters play and advances on SS-G2, with Mephiston and the FLD deploying via Skies of Fury in Tile F. The Terminators arrive and teleport in beside the Drop Pod after a long scatter. The Cerberus moves behind WS3 while the Redeemer advances on it, while the Predator and Vindicator advance on WS2.

~ The FLD manifests Blood Lance which destroys WS3 and subsequently causes one from WG2 to perish. The Redeemer and the Cerberus kill all but one from WG2 while the Terminators, Drop Pod and Stormraven combine to kill all of G2 and leave the Spirit Seer on one wound.

~ The Wraithknight easily dispatches the Bike Sergeant.

Eldar

~ The Crimson Hunter enters play and lines behind the Vindicator. WG1 disembark from WS1 in the direction of the Redeemer and they are joined on the SLP by the Wraithknight. The sole member of WG2 heads towards the Cerberus.

~ The Crimson Hunter knocks 1 HP off the Stormraven and WG1 knock 1 HP off the Redeemer. WG2 immobilises the FLD, DA2 and WS4 wipe the Terminators whilst WS2 and the Wraithknight kill Mephiston.

~ The Spirit Seer charges the Drop Pod and bounces off it.

~ TO 26 (Claim Objective 6) is cashed in for 1 VP.

~ The Tactical Marine, Redeemer and Cerberus all retreat to within 12” of the BA board edge. The Stormraven heads towards the Crimson Hunter and WS2.

~ The Redeemer kills three from WG1 and all other shooting is ineffective 0.o

~ The bomb on Objective 5 explodes killing the Tactical Marine 0.o

Eldar

~ DA2 hops into WS4 and turn to bring the Drop Pod into its firing arc. The Crimson Hunter strafes towards along Tile A towards the BA board edge, and WS2 follows. The Wriathknight jumps down from the SLP behind the Vindicator and the remaining member of WG2 moves out of the firing arc of the FLD.

~ The Crimson Hunter unloads on the Stormraven which not only immobilises it, but causes it to subsequently crash and burn 0.o WG2 pops the FLD (Slay the Warlord) while the Wriathknight kills the Vindicator and WS4 repeats this result on the Drop Pod.

The rest of the board is covered in patches of forest, rocks and a crashed Aquila Lander. Cover is 5+ with the exception of the SLP and Bastion which are a 4+.

Objective 3 lies in Tile F, on the outskirts of a wood which straddles Tiles E and F. Objective 4 lies on the foot of the SLP that steps into Tile C and Objective 1 sits in the wood which straddles Tiles B and C. Objective 5 sits near some rocks in Tile A while Objective 6 sits on top of Tile E’s Bastion. Finally, Objective 2 sits near the door on Tile B’s Bastion.

In addition to Force, the Librarian rolls on the Divination table getting Forewarning and Foreboding to complement Prescience.

The Chaplain’s Warlord Traits were Master of Ambush (The Chaplain and three units have Infiltrate) and Strategic Genius (+1 to reserves), whilst the Autrach’s trait was Mark of the Incomparable Hunter (Warlord gains Split Fire).

Winning the role off, the Eldar deploy first, who leave the Autrach, Crimson Hunter and both squads of Warp Spiders (AWS denoting that it also contains the Autrach and EWS denoting that it contains an Exarch) in Reserve. Deployed in a line, Tile F has the first Wave Serpent (WS1) and this contains the first squad of Dire Avengers (DA1). The rocks between Tile E and F that has Obj5 contains the first squad of Guardians (G1). The woods that transverse Tiles D and E harbour G2 (and thus, they have Obj1) and to their left in Tile D sits WS2 (which contains DA2).

The Blood Angels deploy their Bike Squadron behind cover in Tile A.

Next, the Blood Angels Infiltrate one squad of Death Company along with the Chaplain (C-DC1) onto the SLP, one squad (DC2) onto the Lander ruins in front of Obj6, the third squad of DC (DC3) on the same flank as the Bikes and the Callidus reveals herself by the Bastion 2 doorway. The only place for the Rangers to Infiltrate is a wood in Tile F.

~ DC2 fail their charge on the Rangers, but DC3 wreck WS1.

Eldar

~ The Crimson Hunter arrives and moves up the flank where the Bikes reside. AWS arrive near the Rangers and DC2. DA2 embark WS2 and move towards Obj1 while DA1 moves around its former transport to get line of sight on DC3.

~ The Rangers, AWS and WS2 combine to destroy DC2, while DA1 can only down a single member of DC3. The Crimson Hunter wrecks Cassor.

~ TO 36 (Claim Objective 6) is cashed in for 1 VP.

Deploying first along the DEF board edge, the Blood Angels set their Bikes on the left flank near to Obj6 (which is a Scatter Field). Next, the first squad of Death Company deploys with Astorath (A-DC1) on the left of the Bastion in Tile E, whilst the second squad (DC2) deploy to its right. The Dreadnought starts in reserve.

For the Eldar, the Howling Banshees take to the field inside the third Wave Serpent (WS3). The deploy near to Obj3 and the Guardians deploy in front of them and inside cover. The Farseer and first squad of Dire Avengers (F-DA1) take to the field inside WS1, and this deploys straddling Tile B and C. WS2 (which contains the Spirit Seer and DA2) deploy behind the hill in Tile C.

Winning the roll off, the first squad of Scouts (S1) deploy on the Aquila Lander and out of line of sight of the Eldar. S2 deploys near Obj5 and in cover of the hillside. The Callidus reveals herself next to the Guardians. Having negated most of the field, the Striking Scorpions deploy behind WS2.

~ Having been lost in the warp, the Lucius Pod arrives between WS3 and the Bastion in Tile B. Everything else advances on the enemy.

~ Firing from inside the Pod, the Death Company Dreadnought (DCD) combines its firepower with the Bikes to knock 2 HP off WS3.

~ S1 charges and promptly wrecks WS3. They consolidate 6” into cover. DC2 wreck WS1 and also consolidate 6”, whilst A-DC1 dispose of the Striking Scorpions for the loss of three DC.

The game continues for another two turns and with kind TO draws, the Blood Angels move into an 8-4 lead. However, their only remaining unit is the Lucius Drop Pod and despite weathering a hail of firepower, it is finally wrecked by WS2 in the seventh turn, thereby handing victory to the Eldar.

There are Bastions in Tile A and F, while there is hill in the corner of Tiles C and D. Running along the centre Tiles B and E lays the wreckage of an Aquila Lander and there’s a smattering of Aegis Defence Line walls dotted about. Cover is 5+ with the exception of the ADL and Bastions which are a 4+. You can access the Bastion’s battlements via the door but you can’t embark and the weapons are inactive.

Objective 6 lies to the north of the Bastion in Tile A. On the boarder of Tiles A and B there is a wall which hides Objective 1, whilst Objective 3 is on the wreck that boarders Tiles B and E. Objective 5 is also against a wall, this time on the boarder of Tiles B and C while Objective 4 is to the south of the Bastion in Tile F. Finally, Objective 2 is on a wall between Tiles D and E.

In addition to Guide, the Farseer rolls Eldritch Storm Fortune and Mind War.

The Chaplain rolls for his Warlord Trait on the Flesh Tearers’ table and receives Blood Mad (Feel no Pain), while the Farseer rolls Falcon’s Switfness (Warlord and unit add +3 to run moves).

Deploying first along the DEF board edge, the Blood Angels set up in a line from the middle of Tile E to the Bastion in Tile F in the following order Imperial Knight Paladin (IK) -> Sicaran ->Death Company (DC2) with Chaplain (C-DC2) in Rhino 2 -> Death Company (DC1) with Chaplain (Warlord) (W-DC2) in Rhino 1. The two Drop Pods, their cargo and the Stormraven with DC 3 start in Reserve. Rhino 1 activates Obj4 which is a Grav-wave Generator.

The three Falcons and their Cargo of Dire Avengers (E-DA1, DA2 and DA3) start in Reserve. The three Wave Serpents (WS) deploy to the north west of the board in Tile A. WS1 is in the corner and contains both the Fire Dragons (E-FD) and the Farseer. The other two Wave Serpents each contain a unit of Wraithguard. WS3 activates Obj6 which is a Targeting Relay.

The Scouts deploy out of sight to the south east of the Bastion in Tile A.

The Blood Angels get the first turn but just before they do, the Scouts re-deploy by moving towards the Eldar tanks.

Turn One

Blood Angels
~ Tactical Objective (TO) 64 (Assassinate) is drawn.
~ Drop Pod 1 arrives near to WS3 and the RAS disembark towards the tank. The IK and the Sicaran both advance north to find line of sight, with the Sicaran discovering a bomb of Obj3. Rhino 2 advances on Obj5.
~ The RAS, IK and the Sicaran all combine to destroy WS3 for First Blood, with Drop Pod 1 losing 1HP to friendly fire and the Wraithguard (WS2) cargo just milling about on the wreckage. Meanwhile, Rhino 2 moves onto Obj5 (which is a Scatterfield).

Turn Three

~ The Stormraven enters Hover mode and inches towards the WG2. Both DC3 and a Death Company Dreadnought (DCD1) disembark and edge closer too. Rhino 1 reverses and W-DC2 disembark behind Falcon 2. Rhino 2 reverses in the direction of Falcon 3 but the unit stays inside. The IK advances on Falcon 1 (which contains E-DA1) and the Sicaran moves towards Obj5.
~ The Stormraven kills one from WG1 while the IK pops Falcon 1 despite electing to Jink. One from E-DA1 dies in the explosion and a further one perishes from Rhino bolter fire. W-DC1 wreck Falcon 2.
~ DC3 and DCD1 charge WG2. One member of DC3 dies from Overwatch, and another dies in combat. In return, a construct is pulled down and the battle continues.

Eldar
~ TO 32 (Claim Objective 2) is drawn
~ WG1 moves onto Objective 1 (Grav wave generator) while WS1 shuffles forward and allows the Farseer and E-FD to disembark in the direction of the IK. E-DA1 and join DA2 on the wreckage and DA3 disembarks from Falcon 3.
~ Fortune is cast on the Fire Dragons.
~ The DA Formation activate Killing Strike to remove DC1, but the Chaplain survives unscathed. The IK applies its Ion Shield to the rear arc and despite needing sixes To Hit, the Falcon causes the IK to go into catastrophic meltdown. WG1 then kill the Stormraven and the Fire Dragons run towards the Sicaran.

~ Drop Pod 2 arrives to the south west of the Bastion in Tile F and DCD2 disembarks in the direction of the Chaplain and DA2. The Chaplain(W) advances on DA2 and Rhino 1 tries to Tank Shock DA3 without success. Rhino 2 reverses towards the remaining Falcon again and disgorges DC2, with the Chaplain leaving the unit. The Sicaran tries to put more distance between it and F-E-FD.
~ Shooting is again uneventful. 0.o
~ Chaplain(W) charges DA2 who elect to use “Overwatch at BS2 stance”. However, three from DA2 are killed for no loss and they hold. Meanwhile, DCD 1 kills a single member of WG2.

~ F-E-FD advance onto Obj3 which allows WS1 to strafe to the east. The Falcon moves behind the Sicaran and DA3 put some distance between themselves and DC2.

~ Rhino 2 rams the Falcon and loses its storm bolter for its impertinence, while the Chaplain advances in its wake. DC2 advance on DA3, with DC3 and DCD1 heading towards WG1. Chaplain(W) moves into charge range of DA1, whilst DC2 and DCD2 stumble 3” and 2” after him respectively.
~ A single member of DA3 and WG1 die from a turn’s worth of shooting.
~ The Chaplain charges the Falcon and knocks off a single HP of damage. DC3 die to Overwatch from WG1 but DCD1 engages, destroys the unit and consolidates into cover. The Chaplain(W) and DCD1 charge DA1 who use “Counter Attack & Stubborn” stance. The Chaplain issues a challenge but it slain in the process (Slay the Warlord - Eldar). DCD2 promptly clears up the rest of the combat. DC2 charge DA2 who use “Overwatch at BS2 stance”, but are dispatched with ease.

In the centre of the board is an inactive Skyshield Landing Pad (SLP). At the external corners of A -D is a hill, whilst there is also a hill running between the boarder of A - B and C - F. On the edge of Tile C is a Bastion (B1), while there is a second one on the edge of Tile D (B2). Tile F has a ruin and there is a crashed Imperial Lander (IL) on the A-D hill. Cover is 4+ all round.

Objective 4 is placed north of the SLP in Tile B by a barricade, while Objective 1 is similarly placed to the south of the SLP in Tile E. Objective 5 sits near B1 and Objective 6 sits near Tile F’s ruin. Objective 2 sits in the centre of Tile A and Objective 3 sits amongst the IL wreckage. Mysterious Objectives are in play.

In addition to Force, the Furioso Librarian Dreadnought (FLD) rolls on Daemonology: Malefic gaining Incursion and Cursed Earth to complement Summoning. The Farseer rolled on the Runes of Fate table rolling Doom, Fortune and Eldritch Storm to compliment Guide. The Spirit Seer rolled on the Runes of Battle gaining Destructor/Renewer and Protect/Jinx to compliment Conceal/Reveal. The Warlock gained Destructor/Renewer from the Runes of Battle table to pair with Conceal/Reveal.

The FLD’s Warlord Trait was Speed of the Primarch (+1 INT); whilst the Farseer’s trait was Fate’s Messenger (re-roll 1s on saves.).

With the battle being fought during the day and the Eldar player winning the roll off, they decide to deploy first in a long, thin battle line on the DEF side of the board. The first Guardian squad (G1) deploy in Tile F’s ruin on the ground floor, where they are joined by the Warlock and three members of Vaul Wrath who take a floor each. This reveals Objective 6 to be a Grav-wave Generator. The first squad of Wraithguard (WG1) deploys adjacent to them and the second Guardian squad (G2) is next in line, sitting in the centre of Tile E. This reveals Objective 1 to be a Targeting Array. Behind them stands the WK. The Farseer takes up residence within the second squad of Wraithguard (WG2) and the War Walkers are behind them, who are flanking B2. The third squad of Guardians (G3) sits atop B2 and adjacent to them is the third squad of Wraithguard (WG3) who have the Spirit Seer with them. Lastly, the lone Wraithlord takes up the far flank in Tile D and the Vypers sit in Reserve.

Seeing this, the Drop Pod (with RAS cargo) and the Stormraven (with Scouts, Techmarine and FLD) start in Reserve. The Cerberus deploys in the corner of Tile C with the Redeemer next to it (Tactical are inside). Deploying here reveals Objective 4 to be a Skyfire Nexus. In the space behind, the Whirlwind sits out of sight. In Tile B, the Vindicator and Predator sit in cover with the Sicaran behind them. The Bikes are out of sight behind the Bastion.

The Blood Angels fail to Seize the Initiative and the Eldar player kicks off.

Turn One

Eldar

~ The Wraithlord moves towards the IL which promptly explodes without inflicting any damage. Here it is joined by WG3. The WK moves onto the SLP with WG1 and WG2 not far behind. The WW advance to the SLP’s other flank.

~ The WK knocks a HP off the Vindicator and shakes it, then takes a further two HPs and a sponson lascannon from the Predator. Then it retreats towards the back of the SLP. ~ The Bikes can only take 1 wound from the WK due to FnP, the RAS whiff their rolls and only wreck one WW and the Redeemer kills one VW support weapon. The Drop Pod, Cerberus’s heavy bolters and Whirlwind claim half of G2 but they hold firm.

~ The WK advances towards B1 and the Bikes, with WG1 heading onto the SLP. On the other side of the SLP the WW advance towards the Sicaran with WG2 in tow. WG3 move strafe off the IL whilst the WL continues its trek up the flank. G3 climb down from their Bastion and move into range of the RAS.

~ Fortune is cast on WG2, Guide is cast on the WK and Conceal is cast on the VWs.

~ WG1 Battle Focus towards the Redeemer and explode it. The Explosion slays the heavy flamer from the Tactical Squad and then pins the rest of them in place. WG2 Battle Focus towards the bikes but can only vaporise the Sergeant while G3 annihilate the RAS and hop back onto the roof of their Bastion. G2 move away from the Drop Pod to enable WG3 to explode it, but they still lose one of their number. The WK fires both its heavy wraithcannons at the Cerberus causing catastrophic damage and its secondary weapons knock a wound off a nearby Attack Bike. Finally G1 strip a HP from the Whirlwind.

~ The Wraithknight easily dispatches Bikes and consolidates into the BA deployment zone.

~ TO 42 is cashed in for 1 VP while 53 is cashed in for 2 VP.

The board is a Realm of Battle board with six tiles of the order:

There are hills on the external corners of tiles C and F, and there is a hill straddling the boundary of tiles A and B. All structures are ruins and follow the BRB rules for them, but the ground floor of a ruin offers no cover save or imposes no movement penalties. Ascending a floor is done via an access point or climbing the edges/through a window, descending is done via an access point of by jumping. There are two five floor ruins in the centre of the board connected with bridges and one in tile E. Tile D has a three floor ruin near its boundary with Tile A and there’s another three floor ruin on hill AB. Tile boundary BC has a two floor ruin and there’s a three floor ruin in the middle of tile C. Finally there’s an Imperial Statue on the tile F hill which affords the same cover save as everything else.
Objective (Obj) 1 is placed on hill AB while Obj2 is placed adjacent to the Imperial Statue. Obj3 is on the ground floor of the central building and Obj4 is on the top floor of tile E’s ruin. Obj5 sits underneath tile D’s ruin and Obj6 sits near to tile C’s ruin. Mysterious Objectives are in play.
In addition to Guide, the Farseer rolls Doom, Mind War and Fortune of the Runes of Fate table. The Warlock Conclave get Destructor/Renewer to compliment Conceal/Reveal of the Runes of Battle table.
The SP’s Warlord Traits were Conqueror of Cities (army has Move Through Cover [Ruins] and Stealth [Ruins]) and Divide and Conquer (-1 opponent Reserve Rolls); whilst the Farseer’s trait was Falcon’s Swiftness (+3 to run rolls).
Deploying first, the Blood Angels set up the ADL between the ruins in tiles D and E, with the quad gun in tile D. Adjacent to this is the Rhino with the Tactical Squad (which have split into Combat Squads) and the Dreadnought on the first floor (Obj5 revealed to be a Skyfire Nexus) The Damocles is behind the large ruin in tile E and the Devastators, SP and Inquisitor take up positions on the top floor of the same ruin next to Obj4 (Grav Wave Generator). The Servo Skulls are stretched across no-mans land with one being by Obj1, one being on the fourth floor of the middle ruin and one being near Obj2.
To counter this, the Eldar army sets up out of site. The first squad of Warp Spiders (WS1) sits being the ruin in tile A. The first squad of Rangers (R1) sets up in ruin BC with the Howling Banshees underneath, second squad of Guardians (G2) to the east and the second squad of Warp Spiders (WS2) behind. Huddled around the next building by Obj6 is the first squad of Guardians (G1), the Farseer and Warlock Council. In front of them is the Fire Dragons and right in the external corner of Tile C is the final squad of Guardians (G3)
The Blood Angels Scouts infiltrate as close to the middle ruin as they can whilst the second squad of Rangers (R2) get themselves out of sight by the Imperial Statue. Both squads of Striking Scorpions but themselves into the BA deployment zone on the boundary of tile EF. The Scouts make their Scout move up to the first floor of the ruin and as dawn approaches, the Blood Angels get the first turn.

Turn One
Blood Angels
~ The following Tactical Objectives (TO) are drawn: 42 (Behind Enemy Lines), 44 (Ascendency) and 45 (Supremacy)
~ The Damocles moves towards the BA board edge to get line of sight on the Scorpions. The Combat Squad without any special weapons disembark their Rhino and head over to the quad gun while the Scouts move onto Obj3 (Grav-wave Amp). Everything else stays put.
~ The Scouts gun down a Banshee, the Devastators pick off two from G1 and the Damocles takes out one Scorpion from the nearest squad.
~ TOs 44 and 45 are turned in for 1 VP apiece.
Eldar
~ TOs Eldar 11 (Legacy of Sorrow), 25 (Claim Objective 5) and 26 (Claim Objective 6) are drawn
~ G2 moves into range of the Devastators and the Farseer moves into casting range of them. The Howling Banshees advance on the Scouts with WS2 in tow, and both squads of Scorpions moves towards the ruin occupied by the Devastators. The Fire Dragons move into cover, R2 uncovers Obj2 (nothing of note) and G3 advances towards Obj6. Lastly WS1 moves towards the Combat Squad.
~ Doom is cast on the Scouts, Guide on G2 and Fortune on the Farseer’s squad
~ WS1 kill two Marines from the Combat Squad who proceed to flee 8” and WS2 move towards the Scouts. Both the Fire Dragons and G2 enter cover and G3 moves onto Obj6 (Skyfire Nexus) Both squads of Striking Scorpions advance on the Devastators and finally, the Farseer squad turbo boost over to Obj1.
~ The Howling Banshees wipe the Scouts in combat (First Blood)

Deploying first, the Blood Angels set up the DCC in line with Obj4 and advance towards it 6” and discovers it (bomb). The DCD starts in the Drop Pod and everything else Infiltrates.
With little to counter, the Eldar player sets up defensively. The Farseer is in the centre of the Eldar deployment zone with the first squad of Windriders (J1) in the innermost ruin of tile F and underneath Obj3 (Scatterfield). The second squad (J2) deploys “south” of this in tile F and the third squad (J3) to the “north” in tile C. The Vypers deploy behind the Farseer and the Crimson Death Formation starts in Reserves.
All Blood Angels Scouts infiltrate as close to J1 as they can and then advance 6” towards the Farseer. The Eversor does the same and remains 6” behind them and near to Obj2 (Skyfire Nexus). The squad of Death Company with the power lance (DCL) deploy on the ruin closest to the enemy in tile B, whilst the squad with the power axe (DCA) deploy on Obj1 (Skyfire Nexus). The DCW and the squad with the power fist (DCF) deploy behind the Imperial Statue and all DC squads use their 6” to get into cover if not already there. Finally, all the Scouts make their Scout move towards the Farseer. There is no night fight and the Blood Angels get the first turn.

~ Three hidden Tactical Objectives (TO) are drawn
~ The Drop Pods lands in Tile F and the DCD disembarks onto the ruin that houses Obj3. DCA advance into the cover of the Drop Pod, DCF advance towards Obj1 and DCL drop down a floor to meet the oncoming DCC at the bottom. The Eversor moves towards the Scouts.
~ All the Scouts, DCD and the Drop Pod combine their fire to obliterate the Warlock Council (First Blood) and leave the Farseer on two wounds. DCF run onto Obj1 and DCL make it to the bottom floor.
~ TOs 46 (Domination) is discarded

Eldar
~ Three hidden TOs are drawn
~ J1 moves towards the DCF with the Farseer moving around the Drop Pod and within range of DCF. J2 moves towards DCL with J3 and the Vypers moving back towards the edge of tile C.
~ A large Eldritch Storm is cast which scatters off target. This causes one wound to DCA and the Farseer takes a wound from Perils of the Warp
~ J1 & J2 combine to obliterate DCF leaving the DCW remaining. J3 kills a mere three Scouts and the Farseer turbo boosts into tile D

Tiles A has a ruin in its bottom right corner near the board to Tile B, D, and E. There is a barricade running down from the hill in the opposite corner. Tile B has a ruin in its centre but near Tile E and one on the boarder between itself and Tile C – which itself has a ruin towards the rightmost side. Tile D has a ruin slightly off-centre, Tile E has w central ruin and wall, whilst Tile F has a fairly central ruin too.

The four Eternal War objectives are placed as follows: by the leftmost wall in Tile A, at the base of Tile B's central ruin, by Tile C's shared ruin and by the wall in Tile E. The six Maelstrom objectives are placed accordingly: #1 by Tile D's ruin, #2 on the boarder of tile C and F by C's ruin, #3 on the hill in tile D, #4 in the centre of Tile A, #5 in the centre of Tile F and #6 is in the centre of Tile B. Mysterious Objectives are not in play.

The Chaplain’s Warlord Traits were Conqueror of Cites (Move Through Cover: Ruins and Stealth: Ruins) and Divide and Conquer (-1 opponent Reserve Rolls), while the Baron’s trait was Master of the Joust (re-roll failed To Hit rolls when charging). Death from the Skies content was not in use.

Deploying first, the Blood Angels set up the Plaserback and Assback in Tile E, and the Sicaran and Scorpius in Tile F. All are in cover. The Stormraven, with the Chaplain and a Scout Squad (S2) start in Reserve .

The Imperial Knights deploy in a line along their table edge in tiles A and B in the order Paladin 2 → Errant → Crusader (Baron) → Paladin 1

The other Scour Squad (S1) infiltrates into the middle of Tile D behind the ruin. The Cullexus infiltrates on the opposite side, just encroaching into Tile F from C. The Scouts then redeploy out of line of sight. There is no night fight and the Blood Angels get the first turn.

~ The Skyhammer arrives. The five man RAS with the flamers (RASf) drops onto Obj2 whilst the other two five man RAS squads land in exactly the same spot on Obj6 resulting in the first being telefragged... The black Drop Pod carrying the five man Devastator squad with three grav cannons (D1) arrives in the corner and they squad move up behind the wall. The red Drop Pod lands on Obj4 and disgorges its contents of one five man Devastator squad with multi-meltas (D2) and one with grav cannons (D3) towards the nearest Knight. Tanks remain in cover and the Knight's Interceptor fire does nothing

~ D3 takes 3HP off the nearest Paladin, only for D2 to subsequently explode it catastrophically. The Paladin falls on the Errant inflicting greater than the 6HPs required. The Errant explodes and falls off the board. D1 and the Scorpius take 2HP off the Baron

~ TO BA15 is claimed for 1VP and 56 is discarded

Imperial Knights

~ The Paladin only kills D3 through shooting having also targeted the RAS. The Baron wipes D1 and removes the heavy weapons from D2 leaving two Marines alive

~ The Paladin assaults the RAS only to whiff its attacks and kill one from Stomp (who elect to flee). The Cullexus only manages to down one Marine inits combat

~ TO 53 is claimed for 1VP and 62 is discarded

Turn Two

Blood Angels

~ TOs 22 (Secure Objective 2) and 52 (Blood and Guts) are drawn

~ The Sicaran and Assback move into better firing postions whilst the remaining Devastator squad move into cover. The RAS move back towards their objective

~ Shooting is ineffectual...

~ The Cullexus wipes the RASf

~ TO 52 is disacarded

Imperial Knights

~ TOs 31 (Secure Objective 1) and 34 (Secure Objective 4) are drawn

~ The Baron moves onto Obj4 and the Paladin advances on the remaining RAS

~ The Baron knocks 1 HP off the Plaserback, 1 HP off the Scorpius and kills one member of the RAS. The Paladin also knocks 1 HP off the Plaserback and guns down 1 RAS

~ The Paladin assaults the RAS and again whiffs his attacks. However, the Stomp takes care of one member and they are held in combat. The Cullexus charges the Assback but to no avail

~ TO 34 was claimed for 1 VP whilst 65 was discarded

Turn Three

Blood Angels

~ TO 64 (Assassinate) is drawn

~ The Stormraven arrives and moves towards the Baron, jinking away from the Paladin's Interceptor fire. The Assback moves away from the Cullexus whilst the Scorpius and Sicaran again move for better postions whilst remaining in cover

~ The Stormraven knocks 1 HP off the Baron

~ The RAS are swatted aside by the Paladin in combat

~ TO 22 is claimed for 1 VP whilst 64 is discarded

Imperial Knights

~ TOs 21 (Secure Objective 1) and 66 (Big Game Hunter) are drawn

~ The Paladin and Cullexus advance on the Assback and Scorpius whilst the Baron simply moves to find a better overall postion for shooting and charging...

~ The Baron nukes the Plaserback, but also takes 1 HP off the Paladin with a wayward shot. The Paladin takes 1 HP off the Stormraven and guns down the now revealed Tactical Squad (T1)

~ The Baron charges the Devastators killing two of them and its Stomp attacks wrecking the adjacent Drop Pod. Both the Paladin and Cullexus charge the Assback which takes it out

~ TO 66 is claimed for 1 VP

Turn Four

Blood Angels

~ TOs 41 (Recon) and 42 (Behind Enemy Lines) are drawn

~ Everything that can moves towards an objective does so

~ S1 Runs towards its objective. The Sicaran, Scorpius and Stormraven combine to obliterate the Paladin

~ The Baron finishes off the Devastators

~TOs 26 and 42 are claimed for 1 VP apiece. 41 is discarded

Imperial Knights

~ TO 54 (Hungry for Glory) is drawn. The Baron also regenerates 1 HP

~ The Cullexus advances on the Assback's Tactical Squad (T2)

~ The Cullexus shoots one from T2 whilst the Baron mops up the rest and takes 1 HP off the Stormraven

~ The Baron decimates the Scouts in combat and consolidates 6” onto Obj1

With the time limit now up the Blood Angels are awarded Linebreaker and win on Maelstrom 5-3. On the Eternal War mission it's a tie.
