My first look at grey knights was an index astartes article around 15 years ago now...i remember seeing a terminator and power armor marine both with wrist mounted storm bolters in that. So i believe its been established for quite some time. Just interesting to see the process behind the art. I reckon with regards to the dreadknight, that art was how they wanted the model to be initially. But I don't think they could get it quite right so changed it to what we have as the model today. Shame really. While I don't totally hate the dreadknight as it is currently, there is something about the look in that art piece which makes it more menacing.

Hi all, I was looking through my old codex the other day and I noticed this full page art: It got me thinking about how the art team / designers work and talk together. If you look at the image there are few random things that don't fit in with the Grey Knight range: 1. The Dreadknight concept seems far better to me in this art piece. The terminator is strapped in and his legs are (inside?) the dreadknights. 2. The power armour marines are wearing standard mark 7 (?) helms and not the typical crusader helm. 3. The power armour marine to the right of the image is holding his storm bolter in his hand, rather than it being wrist mounted as normal. I have always been curious about this piece and how the the artist interprets the models. The dreadknight I can understand since it was a new concept for 5th and maybe the model wasn't completely realized when this piece of being drawn. But the standard helms and non wrist mounted storm bolter is interesting since that has been a concept for grey knights for quite some time. Especially by the time this piece of art was made. Thoughts? dex

[Paint Log] +Black Legion+ Brotherhood for the Brother-less

More updates brothers! Work has started on the Chaos Marines. Beautiful kit, but my god the detail is insane. Each one feels like a special character with the level detail on them. So I am striking a balance between good quality and actually getting these done! More to come soon :) -

Haha my heart will always be with my beloved Grey Knights brother, I am simply 'infiltrating' the ranks for the black legion You may power down your halberd. The recipe is super easy. Sotek Green over a black undercoat. Wash with Druchi violet and drybrush with Praxeti White. Thanks for your kind words brothers! -

Greetings brothers! After finally completing my Grey Knights army, I took a little break from the hobby but I am back in full swing and ready to complete a new army. After reading the Talon of Horus by ABD - I knew I had to do a Black Legion army and what better way to start than with the man himself: Really enjoyed painting and a freakin amazing model! I have some chaos space marines on my painting table now and will update this log as the journey continues! Cheers! Dex

Lost in the Eye - NiceGuyAdi's Raven Guard

Mate..the snipers look freakin awesome. Well done! I really like the Talon too...the black-grey is awesome and I want to to something when I start my ravenwing army. Is it the same recepie you mentioned in your prior comment? Thanks! -
I went with the Primaris Intercessors. They turned marines into something truly great and more menacing. So much so, that I can't look at older marines without giggling - (They so cuuute and stunty). It couldn't of been easy to approach the most popular and best selling range and attempt to make them even better. They could have upset a lot of people but GW and the design team did fantastic work, and now marines look like tough marines.

Search for Crimson Fists transfers on eBay. People sell them in sets from the original space marine transfer sheet. For your squad markings I have made use of the dark angel ones as they are red. For troops, cut the end of the Dark Angel double arrow and there you have your single upright arrow. Use the Dark Angels transfer for the high gothic style numbering also. Fast Attack is no change a nice red 4 arrow point from the Dark Angels. Heavy support is unfortunately different as we use the triangle arrow and not the explosion symbol. So I would take the ultramarine one and paint over it in red. Grab the space marine transfer sheet and vehicle transfer sheet on eBay mate. Don't give up on your fists, they are quite easy and cheap to source - and the fists are the best chapter ;)

I am proud of GW for this turn around. Now I can continue to enjoy one of my favourite hobbies of all time for many years to come :)

I did read Guillimans pat on the back to Pedro...I also almost teared up haha - it was glorious.

Didnt know that! Thanks mate!

Hi guys, I have just been reading the new space marine codex, and under the Crimson Fist section it mentions that the red fists are earnt by killing a dragon with your hands and bathing your fist in it? Wasn't the old fluff that the new initiates would slit their palm and combine that with Dorn or other chapter master to share in a ritual of blood brothers? Seems to me the new fluff is kind of worse in this regard? Thoughts?
