  1. So I've been cleaning out my collection, refurbishing things and slowly building new stuff - and I noticed that as I usually play Company of Bitter Iron, I never actually get to use Ferrus. So I threw together a 4k list themed around Ferrus and Nullificators. For background information: my usual play partner and I are not power-gamers in any sense of the word. We're usually fairly decent at moderating ourselves when it comes to powerful options and are planning an escalation campaign between the two of us themed around the war of Colchis. So I will be primarily facing WB forces with heaps of corrupted units, daemons and a general tilt towards melee with some land raiders. One thing to keep in mind is that we slightly modified how objectives work in our games. In our games all Troop units can take an objective, but precedence is given to Line units (i.e. if I have a non-line Troop unit on an objective then it belongs to me but if my enemy moves a Line unit close enough to it, then it belongs to them). So here's the list: Iron Hands; Row: The Head of the Gorgon; 3995p LoW: Ferrus Manus (775p) >Retinue: Morlock Terminator Squad >4x Power Fists, Legion Standard, 3x Volkite Chargers >Augmentor: Power Fist, Volkite Culverin, Cyber Familiar HQ: Centurion Cataphracti (165p) >Consul: Nullificator Primus >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer, Cyber Familiar, Grenade Harness Centurion Cataphracti (165p) >Consul: Nullificator Primus >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer, Cyber Familiar, Grenade Harness Centurion Cataphracti (155p) >Consul: Chaplain >Thunder Hammer, Combi Bolter, Cyber Familiar, Grenade Harness Elites: Contemptor Dreadnought Talon (585p) >Contemptor Dreadnought >Gravis Power Fist with in-built Graviton Gun >Gravis Melta Cannon >Contemptor Dreadnought >Gravis Power Fist with in-built Graviton Gun >Gravis Melta Cannon >Contemptor Dreadnought >Gravis Power Fist with in-built Graviton Gun >Gravis Melta Cannon Troops: Tactical Squad (100p) Tactical Squad (100p) Nullificator Squad (550p) >Sergeant >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer, Cyber Familiar, Grenade Harness >4x Nullificators >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer >Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Proteus >Hull Mounted Twin-Linked Lascannon >2x Gravis Las Cannons Nullificator Squad (550p) >Sergeant >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer, Cyber Familiar, Grenade Harness >4x Nullificators >Aether Shock Maul, Toxiferran Flamer >Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Proteus >Hull Mounted Twin-Linked Lascannon >2x Gravis Las Cannons Tactical Support Squad (195p) >5 Legionaries >Grav Shredders >Dedicated Transport: Rhino Heavy Support: Heavy Support Squad (225p) >10 Legionaries >Volkite Culverins Land Raider Spartan (425p) >Flare Shield >2x Lascannon Destroyers >Hull Mounted Twin-Linked Lascannon Deployment is as follows: Ferrus and his squad of goons ride in the Spartan with the chaplain for that Hatred bonus. Nullificator Primuses (Primes? Primi?) ride with the Nullificators. Dreadnoughts do dreadnought things. Support Legionaries cruise around and rip into vehicles and dreads with their shredders. The Heavy Support Squad thins out infantry and can dish out some serious hurt via the legion unique reaction too. As most units have a transport I can also lean into the Outflank portion of the RoW. The tacticals will mostly sit in the backfield to enjoy the Stubborn in my deployment zone. I was thinking about leaning into some Castellax via the RoW but I just find them way too expensive given that I have no access to Cybertheurgy as a legion player. I know Nullificators are fairly expensive, but I figured I'd want some Land Raiders anyways and the Toxiferran flamers as well as Mauls might help with Gal Vorbak, Daemon Brutes as well as big squads of troopers and tacticals. The Nullificators are mostly for flavor, but I've had some success with their special ability against corrupted and daemon units as well. Right now I worry that I am a bit thin on Line units. I was thinking that, given all the land raiders and lascannons, I might shave off the Tactical support squad and bump the tacticals to 15 man each with some Apothecaries. Curious to hear what people think/what their experiences are with this RoW and any other suggestions :)
  2. I could be wrong but wasn't there some rumor circulating that BT would get a herald/ancient type mini for their next release? I feel like I've read that somewhere. This definitely feels like a banner topper.
  3. The way it looks to me is that each harness mount is actually two harnesses stapled together back to back i.e. its two occupants per door so that would still fit 10 guys.
  4. Talk about the definition of a double edged sword. Transporting pods will be a lot more annoying however it does mean that the assembly process will be far less fiddly. Does make me wonder what implications this will have for the Horus Heresy Dreadclaw kit though, given that it needs a closed pod to build on.
  5. Huh, Til. No idea how I managed to skip over that thus far.
  6. Because Magna Combi weapon can fire their special weapon component only once whereas Minor combi weapons can use it as often as they like.
  7. Gorgeous mini. The skulls should be easy enough to remove and I like that there's hints of the Lycean designs carved into his armor. I'm glad they went a bit more experimental than his artwork - everybody can just kitbash a plain MkVI marine into a moritat. No need to waste a release slot for that. This feels like something people will be able to also convert and kitbash with.
  8. I guess I won't be buying into this army then. The army list is absolutely gutted. Oh well, more money for extra Mechanicum Heavy Support boxes.
  9. What a lovely plastic update. Now if only they weren't one of the worst units in the army book. Oh well, won't hurt to paint some for the fun of it.
  10. Don't do this to me, man. I still haven't gotten over that one.
  11. I suppose that is a theory one can have.
  12. I'm aware of the rumors. However, and this might just be Occam's Razor speaking, I fail to see how a mini that is a carbon copy of a missing (and crucial) plastic mechanicum release and has not a single element of the current 40k Thousand Sons design language represented in its silhouette and what few reflections of its surfaces we have seen "heavily implies" that it's a Psy-Automata - particularly given that we have at least one rumor teaser image that is probably a part of a Psy Automata (Given the banding) and clearly not part of this miniature. I think it's far more likely that HH just simply...wasn't listed (either someone forgot, or it might be the least substantial portion of the preview). If this actually turns out to be a Thousand Sons 40k release I'll smoke a Thallax.
  13. I have no idea why people are speculating that the automata is a thousand sons psy robot. Its silhouette is exactly that of the already existing Thanatar Cavas, its main weapon is obviously the Solex pattern heavy lascannon and the ribbed tubing behind its right hand side matches that of the Calix' graviton ram weapon exactly. I'd be extremely surprised if this isn't a Thanatar Calix slated for the 2nd mechanicum wave in plastic. It doesn't even have any trim or anything that would tie it to the Thousand Sons. I'd be less surprised by the on-foot EC mini being Doomrider than this being anything but a bog standard Thanatar Calix.
  14. Ironbros, the wait was worth it.
