The Infested

"Often Imperial scholars will generalize the legions of the archenemy from compiled reports spanning across centuries. Many live in a continuous ignorance to the existential threats that face the Imperium, dark presences dwelling beyond the vaguely defined Imperial borders across the void. There are few belligerents more misrepresented, by design or circumstance, than the traitorous Astartes.

Those who commit themselves to the Fly Lord are often labelled as joyous creatures who caper and jaunt. Whilst not entirely true, it is a entrenched generalisation to be sure. The Infested are dire entities of morbid persuasion. A lonely joyless cadre within the manic ranks of Nurgle's chosen. Riddled with hair-thin worms, warp parasites from beyond the veil. They burn with fever-heat and shake with final gasping spasms constantly, and yet they cannot truly fall into the painless abyss of death's finality. Existence in the twinned states of agony and oblivion, life and death, breeds an all consuming nihilism. A cold deeply indifferent hate.

Their never-ending killing becomes habitual. First it is duty, then it is sport, and then it means nothing at all.

The Infested sprouted from the unholy amalgamation of several nurgle-sworn warbands; The Ruptured, The Third Seal, and Mortifiers to name a scant few. Supported by the treasonous mechanicus of Laranax-forge, and multitudes of rot-cults and renegade guard regiments, this great force of arms drifts between warp and realspace, a creeping dread within the Imperium's borders growing like a cancer.

What gave terrible life to this alliance is a whispered myth, though its known to have the blessings of significant warlords such as Typhus and Necrosius the Undying.

It could not be said whether this foetid menagerie of nihilistic misanthropes survives to see the indomitus crusade. Perhaps it is kinder to relegate The Infested to the dark horror choked history of dark millenniums now past."
