A blog for all things hobby related - from Space Marines to general hobby and my ever growing pile of Grey plastic shame, and my need to add more. Could EPIC really return? Memories of tiny minis and hoping for more.

Could we really see the return of EPIC in the near future? That is the question we are asking in today's blog entry.   With Titanicus almost done (see below), Aeronautica definitely done in terms of new releases, and The Old World already planned as separate project, is there room in the specialist game area for Epic? I believe there is, and I honestly think its going to be hinted at very soon, maybe at Warhammer Fest which at the time of writing this blog entry, is only Two days away.

The Wallet did break, or rather I did.

Hello folks - welcome to 2023!    If you read my last blog entry, which by the way was too long ago, you will know that the reveal of new Astra Militarum aka Imperial Guard minis had me quite excited, and I talked about trying to resist starting a Guard army, especially if other regiments were to get the same update treatment as the Cadians. The wallet broke before the Guard did.

As per the title, I'm sure that will be a familiar statement amongst many collectors once the newly revealed Imperial Guard minis are released. Its been a long time since the Imperial Guard, or Astra Militarum if you're that way inclined, got new infantry sculpts for their main range. Granted we got a Death Korps of Krieg box recently, but the plastic Cadian range, which I'd say is their 'main' Guard range, has been showing its age for a long time now, and is way overdue for a refresh. Why can't I resist new things?

As the title says, why can't I resist new things?  When the return of the Squats was teased on April Fools Day, and then confirmed shortly afterwards as the Leagues of Votann, I got very excited! The Squats were actually coming back - this was an army that was around when I first discovered the GW universe, and it reminded of those good times that you always look back on fondly. Who am I? An introduction.

Here we go then.   I've been into this crazy hobby since the Second Edition release of Warhammer 40,000, so about 1993 when i started I think. That was my first starter set and I still have fond memories of 2nd edition. I was at high school at the time and my friends all enjoyed the hobby - they were the ones that got me into it, and my first actual purchase was White Dwarf 168 and a metal Space Marine Captain, followed a week later by the 2nd Edition 40K starter box and White Dwarf 16
