Scyther Squad used Ink - Its super effective

During a busy week of getting my kids back into school I found time to get started on the "fun" part of this style, lining or inking. Once I got most of the base colors in and did come chunky highlights (I used one of the AK paint pens for the green highlights. They're fine. The paint applied is great but the nylon brush is...eh. They'd be great for painting stuff at a con or something) I got to start in on the lining. I used a micron 02 size pen, I have a 08 and a 005 as well, but the 005 was a bit too fine and didnt apply easily on the model in most areas, and the 08 was way too big for what I was trying for. More or less edge-highlights with the pen, and occasionally throwing in hatches/scratches/etc.

The first couple of models I went through felt a bit rough as I tried to get the style dialed in, but after that its pretty smooth sailing. Once nice thing is that its just taking a pen to a model I could bring some of them to work and line them out during some breaks at my desk, meant that I got them all finished in a couple of days.

After I got them all lined in I went back through and finished blocking in the bases while touching up or catching things I'd missed on the rest of the model. I couldn't decide on what color to go with for their power crystals, but after a bit of hemming and hawing I went with a magenta, it pops pretty well on the models and I'm happy with it (I was tempted by the green...but that's just too much green...)

One of the last steps was getting the bases worked up. I had debated making magenta crystals to tie in with my pathfinder team and match their weapons crystals...but in the end I like their tactical rocks well enough and since their legs are a NIGHTMARE to work with I opted for the easier option and kept them as is. I got a layer of terrain paste on the bases and will use my grass applicator to apply some patches as a final pass.

Project is moving smoothly, my goal is to have them finished up by this Wednesday to debut them at my FLGS weekly KT night. Should also leave me with just enough time left in CtA2025 for me to contemplate a foolish vow that will do nothing but stress me out a ton. Who knows!
