Laziness For the Win!

Good News! It's been tough in my brain trying to find a Space Marine army to play that fit all the criteria that I need:

1. Easy to find Shoulderpads and Emblems for vehicles. Decals or Plastic.

2. Ridiculously easy paint scheme.

3. A Chapter that exists in the official lore, even if it is super obscure.

The Internet has heard my cries and granted me the following:

The Knights of the Raven!

Yep, a Raven Guard successor in shiny metal armor!

The paint scheme seems to be.

1. Spray model with Leadbelcher

2. Add black details

3. Add leather details

4. Make them 3rd company with red kneepad

5. Wash with Nuln Oil

What do you think?

I think.. you should really think again, cause painting army you don't really like is always leading to abandonment and new army.  But yeah, knights of raven gonna be really easy to paint.

I'm so wishy-washy when it comes to picking an army.

I'll be on board with an army, and then I'll see someone else build and paint it, and then I'll look at my own attempt... and just quit.

It's aggravating, and I'm sure there's some underlying psychological reason for it... but my current line of thought is that if I can power on through and quickly paint an army (that no one else has)* I can actually start playing before that voice that says, "we should've painted them up as Imperial Fists," rears it's ugly head.

*I had two ideas for armies, Blood Ravens and Black Templar... I walked into the store I visit and two regulars were playing with absolutely beautiful Blood Ravens and Black Templars forces.

Nice work on the KoTR model. I had a similar thought process as you when I started but my test model didn't come out as well as yours so I abandoned them. (I ended up with a Phobos Kill Team but never wanted to expand beyond that).

Looking forward to seeing a painted up army!

Lol, man, there is barely few hundreds of the standard  color schemes and several millions hobbyists. You meet every color scheme at least few times. And never look how someone paint their Lil soldiers. They may be good in this or not. Just paint like you want. And paint your marines like Imperial Fists is also fine. Painful but fine. So paint how you like and don't wast your time trying to find something super unique.

Also KoTR is cool idea. With little TMM it's gonna be pretty unique looking army. Like silver for highlight, some metallic matching your basing colour for recesses, and some light blue metallic for   additional highlights make it's pop a lot. And rare to meet. Just be sure you really like it.

I thought about doing the kneepad and shoulder trim like I did on the blade of my Tzeentch-thing.

Kroxigor Scales over Leadbelcher.
