Surrounded by interdimensional space storms for many centuries, the system of Abistrev was completely isolated from the rest of the Empire and thus deviated from the organization of the forces from the nearby systems. Knowing the storms would end one day, the Abistrevians trained hard, creating powerful and disciplined regiments, well prepared for defensive roles, especially when garrisoning fortifications like the large city-bunkers where most of their population lived.

After the defeat of the heretic that had misled part of the Abistrevians to fight against the imperial forces, the loyalist forces were reintegrated into the Imperial Guard and the system turned into a fortress to serve as a base for future operations. The organization of their regiments was changed slightly after Abistrev rejoined the Empire, but they still have some minor deviations from the regular Imperial Guard forces, which will be removed gradually to make them fully compliant with what is defined by the Imperial Law.

Abistrevians are a strong and well disciplined people, which makes them good soldiers. Flexible but resistant armour plates cover most of their bodies, while thicker plates cover the most vulnerable parts of the human body and they are equipped with powerful weaponry, which in some cases was significantly improved by the Abistrevian scientists, when compared to the regular imperial versions widely available elsewhere.

Soldiers from Abistrev rely heavily on strong armour plates covering their upper body and often look bulky when compared with other members of the Imperial Guard.

The most common weapon among Abistrevians is their own design of a rapid fire laser rifle that diverged significantly from the regular imperial designs.

The closed helmets used by many Abistrevians make them an adequate choice for missions on hazardous environments or planets where the atmosphere is not adequate for humans.

In terms of specialized weapons, Abistrevians tend to prefer light MG's and similar solid projectile weapons, as well as flamers and plasma guns. The plasma guns used by Abistrevians are a deviation from older patterns of plasma weapons and are extremely compact and powerful, although they require extensive cooling for prolonged use.

The uniforms of Abistrevian regiments depend heavily on the underground city from which they were recruited or the environment of the planet where they will be stationed, making them easy to recognize on the field, unless they are using camouflage or cloaking systems.
