New Training Grounds

IRL work seems to be picking up so entries will be sporadic for a bit. I got some more hobbying done. 

So I finished the what mantis Warriors I pieced together. I’m actually out of basic Intercessors, still have plenty of assault and heavy left, but no basic. I was thinking of grabbing a box with my tax refund, but the reveals put a bolt round in that idea. Still it can wait.

Also got all the heavy intercessors painted up, five for my UM and ten for the Medusan Redoubt. I was hoping to get a chance to use it yesterday. But ran a demo CP game instead for some newcomers. I got the turrets done during the reveals so got a WIP pict of the group. The turrets have been sprayed so might have them done soonish.

On that note, there is a store just a few blocks from my house now and they are looking at doing intro/Cp games weekly. I faced Sudden Dawn Cadre (tau) with my newly minted Vengeful Brethren. I managed to grab a victory, though the devilfish was giving me some issues. The commander got a full volley from the hellblasters and got vaperized. He was tabled turn 4, his breachers got mulched by my captain and the bladeguard.

The demo was using Strike Force Octavius and the Vanghast Swarm. Both were mine, just letting my opponent use them to go over the game mechanics and roll dice. No strats allowed and scoring was just holding objectives. Semi-easy.

Issue is that Octavius doesn’t hold well, only three units compared to the Vanghast’s five/six units. I made a good showing, only losing by ten points with no real way to catchup in turn 4. Guy had fun and that was the important part. Seems he wants to do orks so hope to see them on the field later.

Think after I finish the turrets I’ll head back to orks, crack those out and try to join a waugh before the edition change. Also once my mag trays come in I’ll work on getting Protectors of Aun’Shar together. Will have to look through my stash as I might have something special to use for the fireblade.
