Vandoth the Fallen
Blindhamster replied to Lord Marshal's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +
Honestly one of my favourite things with a lot of the newer necromunda models is that they look like they are survivalists. A space marine is no different, whilst he could sleep on the floor, why should he. He has supplies and tools to keep him alive and its awesome. -

Vandoth the Fallen

as some others pointed out, his armour is actually much closer to the CLASSIC scouts (space crusade era) cloth on upper legs, armoured knee with round bit and strap on back, single shoulder pad, he even looks like he might have a similar style belt. Now I want a squad made like him... -

If you like space marines you may want to pick up vow of absolution and if you like eldar you can look for inheritance of embers -

Vandoth the son of sanguinius?
Blindhamster replied to Inquisitor_Lensoven's topic in + BLOOD ANGELS +
i like the model a lot, id have liked an alternative head without the mask thing, but he's very nice regardless. I'm interested to see the model from other angles. On this board I have done necromunda gangs in the past (many years ago at this point), both times, they were led by a lone space marine in carapace armour (a scout), the first was a fallen dark angel, the second was an imperial fist. Seeing this chap really makes me want to play with that concept again. I don't imagine he's a legionnaire, mostly because of the time. The only marine from the heresy that isnt either relying on warp time dilation/shenanigans or is a dread was the salamander found in the salamander books... and he was basically a statue due to his age. What I do find interesting is... if he is a blood angel, why was he on necromunda? are there any specific instances we know of where blood angels went there? We know the imperial fists have a garrison there, but thats really it in terms of marine presence? -

his lore says "steel-sinewed muscle" which honestly seems more of a primaris reference, this guys isn't primaris though, 100%. Regardless, he's an astartes for sure based on the inputs for his power armour and his stats and other rules. He's also almost certainly of the blood angels line based on the vampirism aspect. -

I really like this model, its interesting though, in that he's rather different from his art. The Art doesn't really look at all like a marine. The model looks like he couldn't be anything but... As a massive blood angels fan, I'm sold. Rule wise, im interested in that, he doesn't seem all that impressive for an ancient vampire, but Ive not played necromunda in years to really know one way or another. I do recall having a gang leader that was stronger and tougher after some advances back when I played long ago, and this chap wont advance right? Also interested in relative size to other models! -

warp travel still works, it "just" has a higher and faster mortality rate for navigators and typically requires groups of them now. There's a big scene discussing that in Darkness in the Blood. The astronomican isn't entirely hidden, but its obscured, so its more difficult to use. (in addition, the blood angels seem to have better than average ability to traverse the warp in the dark imperium, because of their super psychic golden winged chap and chief librarian) Warp travel in the terran side of the imperium works mostly as it always has though. also also, we know that messages from cadia and fenris to terra via "normal" means (essentially message relays) takes months, not years. This is straight up specified in the emperors legion novel.

Honestly this is how I'd do it, and I'd have it be two distinct datasheets with somewhat different rules, tracked one slower but a bit more durable, grav one faster but a bit less being the obvious thing. Would let you pick the one that suits your army theme that way too (da red 'uns go fasta!) if there isn't a special rule involved, you could probably have it just be an "option" on the unit, -x wounds +x movement

interesting note, the original land raider was a grav vehicle in lore. Ergo. If they want to, they can make a land raider and still have it fit the grav thing they seem to have leant into. For the record, I'm not saying I want that, I don't have a huge desire one way or another, I don't have strong feelings about land raiders honestly. I think something with broadly speaking, the current land raider shape, but grav plates could look pretty nice still. I honestly don't think they'll change much of the design of the land raider regardless. And most likely it'll remain tracked. Or, it'll be dropped for loyalists and chaos will get an update. p.s. totally agree, if it got an update, it'd be good if it included some kind of variant in the base version

Thing with Tycho was, he was slain during the third war of armageddon, which actually lore wise happens almost the same time as fall of cadia. The thing with 40k is it was stuck at the same time for a long time. Now, don't get me wrong, for the longest time, Tycho was my favourite blood angel. But that said, losing him from the codex and him not getting an updated model didn't really hurt the army. Getting a new model was not on the cards realistically, due to the whole primaris thing (for good or ill). I think in the case of Corbulo, he's gone because Blood Angels got more new character models than any other chapter so far, they (probably correctly) decided it was more important to get a generic priest and generic captain (because muscle armour is such a hugely distinctive part of the blood angels look) out, than Corbulo. I honestly think Corbs will be back next edition as the Blood Angels "single model" next time around.
