Ok, in my excitement I didn’t explain myself very well. I’d like the league to be a heavy faction if that makes sense. I can see them with the assault drill Transporters and men or iron and automatons that are solid and imposing, im thinking thanatar level imposing and just as cool looking. I don’t see them as a big number of boots wafty flighty delicate army, but I see them with near deathguard hard as nails toughness and resilience. Thats how I saw the mechanicum. However the league has advanced enlightened reasoning and solidity on its side free from rituals and doctrines where you spend an hour chanting just to flick the on switch. I suppose I’d like them to be quite elite rather than swarming chaff and distraction units.

would it not be lovely if they were essentially old school 30k mechanicum in every way to separate them quite viscerally from 40k AdMech. I think that would be very cool, totally different flavours, and lets face it, fires of cyraxus was pretty much written so it's not like the dataslates for the automata can't be re-jiggered.

but then one can argue that sisters are nothing more than imperial guard in power armour turned up to 11. I think there's a place for squats. And the whole eye of terror thing can explain their reappearance after so many years especially if the recent events have opened up a new rift or opening in the warp where they were locked away and thought destroyed. - dunno. Where do I see them? a faction that like the space elfs just wants to be left alone, but is embroyled into the galaxy's wider war. masters of mechanics and plasma, perhaps they are as resilient as a deathguard but with all the plasma masterworks of a salamander and some mad battlegear in terms of transport and suits, or maybe they're the anti nids - let elves and the humans fight chaos and the crons, we're going for the bugs. I can also see them as the ones who have got their heads around how to manipulate noctilith and screw chaos and the crons over with it. The imperium of course is too stupid to realise this and just sees them as another threat to deal with. I can see spacehulks as their fodder, after all free resources and materials - you just have to clean it out and melt it down, job jobbed, and again, imperium will probably see this as theft and get the hump accordingly, especially if hulks are just disappearing to something they thought long dead. I think like sisters, they're just something different. Something that's pleasing to own and play with. I reckon they could work on that level, very small, very elite, very niche.

could you tell us more about the Molloc conversion? he looks sweet :)

aye, and the direct inspiration for it came from the 'wormholes' in the Nemesis the 2000AD warlock comic strip :)

I remember those days, and the big discount sales that the stores used to have on birthdays and on old model lines that were going out of production.

I don't want them to go primaris, but primaris sized so that they fit their fluff descriptions would be very nice indeed. In fact make then half way between a Primaris and Custodes please, as my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

Dawn of Fire & Dark Imperium Timeline Change

The Great Work is the most detailed account around the creation of the Primaris. By that, not only do we see what it was like for a specific Primaris, but broadly the creation of the Primaris process/technology/system. I'll tell you an example, before I read this book I honestly asked, "So how did Belisarius Cawl manage to create the Primaris as the next-gen Space Marine when Fabius Bile has been doing this for 10,000 years and hadn't come close with his whole New Man plan?" The novel directly addresses that specific question. Yes indeed. It also really highlights how much of a loose cannon Cawl is and how liberal his interpretation of behaving is. Together with the insight into pre heresy Belesarius its a great read, and does leave you wondering... Who is he? I'd go as far as saying that Alpha Primus is very much the tragic figure, fundamentally asking why was I created, and was my creating worth all the pain and suffering to get to that point - by which he's referring to all the failed experiments to get to him being Cawl's first success. His part in Dawn of Fire is one of the bystander, asking the marine veteran who has been through the heresy to be mindful of cawl as none of the imperium really truly know him. All this while the veteran is questioning whether the time of the Astartes is at an end, whilst watching their grand unveiling by Cawl. The narrative weaves a persona around cawl that has you believing and imagining him to be 40k's Tony Stark in his attitude and demeanour, love of himself, and utter belief in his own brilliance and ability. Like you, I asked the same question, and you come to realise that the answer is even better than what you expected, as I say, I thought the Primaris were full fat Astartes that Gulliman had given to cawl for upgrading, the reveals in Great Work and Dawn of Fire totally changed my perspective on them. -
Next Primaris Reveal or Release (speculation)

I have to say, I'm disappointed at he mounted options. I'd hoped that anti grav was going to be a primaris thing, so we'd get speeder bikes or hover bikes as opposed to tires, keep the tires for the guard I say. I'd like to see more to support Primaris to integrate them into the rules set. So for instance, if a raider can take ten marines or five terminators, it can carry five primaris due to the size difference. The reason I say this is because I can see Primaris not getting say a thunderhawk or stormeagle equivalent for some time, so what's the difference until that gap is closed. -
Dawn of Fire & Dark Imperium Timeline Change

Apologies for the threadromancy, but with the imminent re-release of DI and Plague War, I was wondering if anyone would recommend picking these up despite the Dawn of Fire series still not being complete? Thanks to Lord Nord's suggested reading list, I've done the above books (via audio-books) and thoroughly enjoyed them, and have also recently finished Gate of Bones (which I feel is a better set up for the ongoing seriesaybe than Avenging Son - it had some good characters and sets up some interesting threads I look forward to seeing resolved). Gate of Bones does seem to suggest that the Dawn of Fire series is going to be quite a long running series, which makes me wonder if I ought to wait before getting in to Guy Haley's DI trilogy. Why does this matter? Well, I was out of the hobby between mid-2014 to late 2018,so missed the release of 8th and many details around the progression to the 'current' state of the setting (Imperium Nihilus etc). But going through Lord Nord's list above, I feel more up to speed and a bitore invested in the 'now' of 40k. However I dont want to jump in to the DI trilogy of it's going to make me unsure of where things are at and why (and also kind of spoil the fates of any characters from the Dawn of Fire series). Am I over thinking this? Maybe. Any thoughts on this matter welcome! I'd certainly recommend the dawn of fire series. I've read Dawn fo Fire, and am just starting Gate of Bones. The writing is very good, and the characters are very well fleshed out. It says a lot that in Dawn of Fire, amidst the most epic battlefleet gothic style space battle, all you can think about is that character form the previous chapter ok?. If it's going to be nine novels and they're all as good as the first, then we're in for a great time. In Dawn of fire Cawl introduces the Primaris for the first time, and the great thing about that moment is that the whole book is written so you're looking at a situation through the perspective of one of those present. It turned my thoughts of Primaris on its head, as in my ignorance, there was me thinking that they were existing heresy era marines that cawl had upgraded, rather than these giants that are little more than children who have been grown and had memories implanted - almost like replicants. The Alpha Primus character who was also in "the great work" I'm convinced is Cawl's attempt at making his own primarch, and in Gate of Bones there is a brilliant insight into how the Custodes see the world and the return of Gulliman, again through the eyes of one of theirs. They describe through the narrative just how far Terra has fallen during the last 10000 years and just how much of a fight Gulliman has not just against the forces of the imperium, but also against the highlords of Terra who in reality really don't want him there, and ideally want to keep him on a lead and have him dance to their tune. I have to say, I'm getting quite wrapped up in it all. In game I wish this was conveyed more in respect of the fact that within DoF you do get the very real impression that the Primaris really do need the original Astartes to guide them - they are newborns in every sense of the word, and I'd love to see in game the mechanic that allows at least an HQ to be able to lead and give buffs to a Primaris unit to represent just how fresh off the boat they are. Even in terms of physicality I don't understand why a land raider can't carry primaris say with the condition that they count as terminators for the purpose of squeezing in there. But in a nutshell, yes, read Dawn of Fire, and if you like the imperial navy Battlefleets you're in for a treat as much of the book happens in orbit. -
Nostalgia - Missing GW Bits Service
Angry Banana replied to techsoldaten's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
they stopped it because it was costing more to run it and supply it than it was making. One funny sorry relates to some wheels and various empire bits for fantasy. At a GW staff meeting they said that those particular pieces had been sold to one individual in the last year, Just one sale. As it happened it was one of the staff, and so to rub salt in the wound he'd got them at 50% discount and delivered to store at their expense! -
I do remember the old GW forum from donkeys years ago, and it got all a bit toxic. Add to this the amount of resource needed to police an official forum properly and the GDPR and privacy directives now, which is what caused the demise of so many forums in the last couple of years due to their platform upgrade being an unsustainable proposition and you have something that quite frankly many companies like GW don't see value in. Easier to let someone like the established social media hubs do the donkey work, and you just feed content and not have to worry about it. I agree with Philip S above - the forums that do well are the ones where their community make them, and that in turn, if it has the right vibe then the likes of GW will in the background look in and feel the pulse therein - much like TGA for age of sigmar, who as it happens was where the recommendation came to join B&C. Having GW looking in on somewhere like this is also great for them as a forum like this will tell them more than a survey ever could, especially if all the comments are constructive and helpful. Sure say that this or that is a load of balls, but offer a solution or a theoretical remedy or solution as to how it can change and they'll eventually listen - even if its never acknowledged or acted upon.

Exorcists gene-seed primogenitor named!
Angry Banana replied to Skywrath's topic in + ADEPTUS ASTARTES +
I would have really liked it if they originated from loyalist Word Bearers, hence their propensity for allowing warp entities into themselves as a rite of passage. Oh well, looks like dorn is the go to "we're not quite sure about this lot" primarch. I would have preferred the ambiguity. If Alan Bligh was still alive he'd have made sure there were enough subtle clues for you to pul it all together without having to spell it out as he did with the Minotaurs. As has been said, the universe has got that little bit smaller. -
Apologies @megaVolt87. I meant to say the plagueburst crawler. I was going to de nurgle it, and remove the side mounted guns so it just keeps the snow plough and howitzer.

Hi all, In the latest story arc for AoS called Broken Realms, in the first book Slaanesh who is currently imprisoned by the elves, gives birth to an offspring which apprently has a snake lower body. Now, this is a truly long shot, but Slaanesh is getting lots of love in AoS with this story arc being the herald of possibly Tzaangor kits and more... but... now, were the offspring of Slaanesh to have a snakelike lower body, and be heroic demigod size, potentially it could mean that you might get a Son of slaanesh named AoS character or Slaanesh / Fulgrim daemon prince dual kit. Food for thought and it would make sense to kill two birds with one stone.

I think the red stripe is where it will fall down due to the detail and bits on the side of a marine's leg. That said, have you thought about maybe taking the theme but with a twist. So go the grey but use the red strategically on thigs like the hand guards, the shin plates and ends of the back pack. Maybe turn a model side on and see what detail strikes you. The leaders black helmet might play nicer with a gold stripe instead of red, and would help mark him out even further.
