Horus Heresy White Scars Stormseer Consul
Abanshee replied to Lord Marshal's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +
Honestly speaking, I feel Raven Guard and Iron Hands have gotten the shaft in general. They've got very few good novels (outside of the Black Books) and have even less models for you to choose from. Also, the Raukaan supplement didn't help the sons of Ferrus to boot. -

Question about using old models in a current edition
Abanshee replied to hd3's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
I'm not too concerned with how big my opponents models are, but at least make it comparable to the original model. That's really all I care about when it comes to old models/conversions/proxies. Also, that's a really neat idea for a conversion. -

Best way to condense down the Heresy Series for a newcomer?
Abanshee replied to Abanshee's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
Oh she's definitely interested in reading them, but I do think she also wants to spend more time with me. She just bought the first book like a day or two ago and I've already got Saturnine. How would you fit Scars, Warhawk, Betrayer, The First Heretic, and Path of Heaven in here? Maybe around and/or before the Ultramarines arc? -
Why does everyone hate on McNeil anyways? I thought the Last Church was cool as hell.

DakkaDakka comes to mind.

Sounds like me when I write anything relating to Iron Hands. I hate writing them with a passion, but I must admit I tend to write them well. I prefer too take Alan Bligh and Chris Wraight's approach with them.

Look up Mediocre Hobbies tutorial for Black Legion and JuanHidalgo's tutorial for black armor on YouTube. Makes black look so much less boring and much more interesting to look at.
-
I'd really try to make them look like the Hounds of Abaddon with the bits you have (Basically, just throw in a regular CSM bit in here or there on the models), however, otherwise I don't see a single problem as long as it's WYSIWYG.

Best way to condense down the Heresy Series for a newcomer?
Abanshee replied to Abanshee's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
Oh, okay I'll let her know. She's more interested in the politics and psychology of the space marine legions. Her favorite legion by looks alone are the Sons of Horus and she also likes the motifs behind the White Scars. So, I guess it'd be best to read the first three, the Shadow Crusade arc, The White Scars arc, and the main Siege of Terra books? -
So, recently I've been slowly been getting my mother interested in The Horus Heresy, however, she isn't a huge fan of the varying quality in authors and number of books she'd have to read. Does anybody possibly have a condensed reading order of all the Heresy novels or one they've made themselves? Doesn't have to cover ever little tidbit, just the important events (like the Burning of Prospero or the Betrayal at Calth). She's primarily interested in the Emperor/his Primarchs and anything by ADB.

I think a typical force should represent the smallest force available on the FOC for your chosen faction (For example, a space marine demi-company is what I'd field in a regular 40k match if I was playing them. Or something comparable to a demi-company.) Whatever is the smallest on the faction's force organization chart basically and going up the chart as you go up in points. I always die a little on the inside when I see special character at 500 points, just tells me you're here to be one of those ultra competitive weirdos. I don't see why they aren't restricted to 1000 points and up.

I tried to watch the Age of Sigmar H&B episodes, it just fell superbly hollow. It just felt like a poor attempt to get more people interested in AoS (Which to be fair H&B, does have some cool stuff, but is largely there to market the miniatures). Almost, like it was a shadow of it's former self or something....bah probably just me.
