  1. The only problem with this is that it seems like wishful thinking. We had all this when Adeptus Titanicus came out, with people wanting xenos titans then. That game by everything I have seen counts as having done very well, and did we get xenos? No. Instead we have got another game which is just imperial armies. So my personal view is that if we make this succeed then we may get yet another heresy only game instead of something with xenos. Also I think asking xenos players to buy imperial stuff, just in case they may make what they want in the future is a little off. If GW want those players to buy into it then they should make something for them. But this is just my view.
  2. With wound allocation we need to go back to how it used to be done many editions ago (as far as I can remember). You allocate each wound to an individual model (or group of similar models lumped together) until everybody has one and then start again. With groups lumped together you have to take the higher strength attacks first. So 10 man tactical squad (sergeant, vexilla, and 8 normal) gets shot at by let’s say a veteran squad (1 krak missiles, 2 combimelta, 13 bolter). So with 16 saves, you will get 4 guys taking one save, and 6 guys taking two saves. So sergeant gets two bolter saves (to tank on 2+), vexiIla gets one bolter save, and the eight normal guys have to take the missile, 2 combimelta, and 10 bolter saves. This will result in 3 men dying straight away, and then the other five rolling ten saves between them. Same squad gets shoot at by another tactical squad which causes 16 bolter hits gets the same allocation. This stops the sergeant tanking more than his fair share of hits. At least this is how I think it should be done.
  3. Pretty much the same for me. I still remember back when it was first invented and seeing it grow in those early days. Then seeing it come back and develop into the system we had for so many years, with this coinciding with me falling out of love with 40k in 6th Edition.
  4. From what I understand of the rules the main apothecary and independent character issue is that they can’t join a retinue unit, as the character has to join them during list creation. Otherwise your good to go (mobility choices and their limitations aside).
  5. Do you know what grinds my gears? People creating lazy posts to try and cause controversy…
  6. I bought a few conversion parts from Anvil Industries to convert up some for my Imperial Fists. Simple and easy.
  7. Master Crafted Miniatures, do some lovely studded (and plain) pads that are excellent to use. . Needless to say I’m a big fan of using Indomnitus if you alter them slightly (remove purity seals and crux, add more studs, etc.).
  8. Wounds should be spread across a unit. A squad takes five hits from something, then five models each take a save. Ten man squad takes eleven hits, then each model takes one save and one model takes two. Easy and more realistic.
  9. Sad times, but not unexpected. I used to post there all the time and made some good friends through the site, but slowly stopped using it as it became easy to get the heresy fix through Social Media as sharing photos was so much easier.
  10. Yes they are gone as well. The other annoying thing about not being able to take the Moirax is that it’s the only customisable Armiger, without it you are stuck taking large numbers of just two different versions, shooty or close combat with no options for anything except them!
  11. Personally I find it quite helpful to read threads like this so I can see what is actually going on across different forums/groups rather than the censored versions which is all you see if you aren’t logged in 24 hours a day to see them unfolding. I have left groups because of things like this in the past, as I disagree with the way some moderators abuse their powers. I also am fully aware that all groups/forums belong to their owners rather than users and they can do what they want, but it doesn’t mean I will want to stay in them.
  12. Iron Hands one, for the different take on the power pack
  13. Cheers, just seemed one of those things you shouldn’t be able to do, but maybe it is and I am being too pessimistic!
  14. So an interesting question came up on a FB thread yesterday where somebody asked if you could combine the Venerable Ancient and a Mortifactor into one unit. My initial thought was no, but looking at the rules I am not sure, so thought I would see what others think. Keeper of the dead says "a detachment that includes a model with this special rule may take an additional legion Contemptor dreadnought talon composed of a single model as part of the same force organisational choice as the model with this special rule. The model with this special rule must join the the dreadnought which has been selected at the start of the battle during deployment". Fury of the Ancient says "a single legion Contemptor dreadnought talon in the detachment composed of only one dreadnought must be selected as the detachments compulsory HQ choice. A legion Contemptor dreadnought talon selected in this manner must take the venerable ancient upgrade". So when building the list I choose to use a Mortifactor, and select the single Contemptor unit, I then choose to use Fury of the Ancient and give that Contemptor the Venerable Ancient upgrade to it (as at this point it is a single model), and finish building my list with everything else. At the start of the battle I then combine the Mortifactor and Venerable Ancient together. I am not saying it’s not a little bit of a power gamer move, but rules as written seem to suggest it works. Anybody have any thoughts?
