I'm late to this but: BL had sold translation rights to a very small local publisher a few years back and that was -slowly- marching on Contract was rescinded this year and Panini is actually doing translations of BL books in italian for the forseeable future (first set of books should come out this month if i remember correctly) So yeah, it's the books And yeah, probably it's the first time we get far enough with a localized version of HH to reach Fulgrim. The previous publisher i wrote about above had reached up to Galaxy in Flames. Yet another previous attempt had reached as far as Horus Rising if i remember correctly, but it's been a long while so i might be wrong (so yeah, that would also mean Flight of the Eisenstein is a new translation too) Hilariously enough the only publisher that managed to release more than an handful of translated books before folding the attempt (or folding in general) here was a small game-centric one back in the late 90s/early 2000s, that's the reason we got Gaunt's Ghosts up to Traitor General, Gotrek and Felix up to Giantslayers and odd single books/small series from the very old times (Inquisition War / Claws of Chaos style), but that meant HH was still too "young" No one lasted that long since, but i guess Panini might be making a play in case the multimedia stuff (see Amazon) ever gains traction so who knows how this round will go Edit: went for a quick check, what's coming out is This month: Horus Rising / Flight of the Eisentstein / Leviathan / Son of the Forest May: False Gods/ Galaxy In flames/ Fulgrim June: Eisenhorn 1 / The Infinite and the Divine July: Krieg / Dark Imperium Excluding Xeno and the above mentioned 3 opening HH books, everything else is "new" There are more (Russ primarch novel, a few more HH books and others) but i can't really verify them atm. Seems that the first AoS books should come somewhere around october for example

The Rumour Engine - 4th February, 2025

Might be absolutely nothing (since i assume it's not really that distinctive), but i'm pretty sure that's the color pattern they have used more than once on the cabling of imperial knights (just the stock Knight Paladin shots have it both on the sword and the legs) -

Eh, he did it as the outro to the original Astartes too . A glimpse in the "There is only war" works too -

Glad to see this (even if i'll probably never get around watching the end result) Can't avoid thinking that this is what they should have done with WH tv from the start to push/capitalize on the interest, instead of coming to it years later -

I just realized i' ve not finished Lords of the Lance after buying it almost a year ago at this point. I want to like it. I really do. But god, there are too many things that take me out of it. And i don't mean the pretty surface stuff that crowded discourse about the book back then. It just feels like everything is so incredibly on the wrong scale. Between armies that are too small to make sense, travel times that make no sense and other stuff like that, i keep having to stop and think how does this work? And what really bothers me is that there are bits here and there that have really good potential Guess 10+ year didn't really dispel the curse of "Bretonnia can't get a really good book (unless it's actually a book about Vampires)" -
The Phoenix Lord novels: are they any good?
Fenriwolf replied to SvenIronhand's topic in + THE BLACK LIBRARY +
If i remember correctly the PL serie was more or less scrapped by editorial around the time they were introducing the Ynnari into the lore (and books) since things were supposedly going to change (i think i vaguely remember Thorpe writing something to that tune somewhere years ago) That in turn went pretty much nowhere since the entirety of the Ynnari storyline was put into a dead end after not even two years, so the serie died for nothing Imho, the two we got were good. Maybe not the top of the top but good but still, well, good and with interesting background bits on top -

When your trailer sends me back reminding the intro for Mechcommander, things aren't looking good. Ehm...Anyway, i'll say there's at least a piece of it that looks somewhat decent: the helverin bit at the start. Movement feels decently fluid and the fog + camera angle most likely aren't there without reason (way easier to hide stuff with low lighting and half your model hidden by generic zombies) The big knights bit on the other hand just dosn't cut it. And how they put the scene together doesn't help at all. Leaving aside everything else ( like the already mentioned clashing blobs ),for example I honestly can't get over the fact that the "lead" imperial knight is trying to graze the jaw of the leading chaos one instead of aiming for, i don't know...Anything important. You should probably aim to show a level of impact at least comparable to rock em sock em robots.. -

Guardians of the Forest was right there. McNeill even said he snuck some references to it this one ( starting with making one of the characters the ancestor of one from the old book ) But i guess we are still at a stage where the higher powers don't want to make ties to the old Fantasy setting They didn't even bother to make a dedicated banner for this on the BL site, they just threw the cover image on the warhammer chronicles one. So if you are not paying attention it just looks like a reprint of some old book
-
Back half a day later to say that "might be" has become an "is" Around 1/5th of the book in and so far.....I'm not disliking it. Maybe it's the part of me that didn't hope to ever reading something in the old world ever again speaking, who knows. Actually very little has happened so far, the story is obviously still setting up things for later The only slight problem i have with it as of now is the depiction of numbers. The knight (and supporting paesants) host feels very small for what is being presented in the story (i can't avoid thinking that if a duke can muster one hundred knights and 5x that in paesantry out of his domain, i can't really see Bretonnia defending itself anytime soon) P.s.: found it funny that the "advert" part at the start of the book -where they list some of the old whfb series- gets to Reynolds's Bretonnia serie and mentions only the 2 novels, leaving out basically half of it. In a bretonnian book.
-
I just realized that BL is releasing an actually new bretonnian book for the Old World. Looks like they actually announced it back mid-december but i had totally missed it. My interest is only matched by the dread of how bad it could go thinking back at the past (yeah i'm pointing at you, Knight Errant and Knight of the Realm, and the whole tradition of writing bretonnians as lawful incredibly stupid that took over since the times of 6th edition) Might still be the first BL book i pick up in over 4 years...

Everything as in "everything the bonus gives you". Think it was kinda obvious considering the context
-
And as many occasions where you'll have to move and give up everything It's not a terrible bonus ( and if marines end being able to make an army with an actual support gunline to complement more mobile elements it might work great) and coming from what IFs had in 9th it's a gigantic upgrade regardless, but still..
