  1. Believe it or not, this is actually a project I've wanted to do for ages. Whilst I realise the limitations to a list such as this, I feel that it is capable in many other ways from a conventional Marine list and remarkably fluffy. 1000 points, Baal Strike Force Captain ~ Artificier Armour ~ Combi-melta, relic blade, melta bombs, auspex ~ Storm shield or Veritas Vitae ~ Warlord Command Squad ~ Meltagun (3) ~ Drop Pod Scout Squad (10) ~ Sniper rifle (8) ~ Heavy bolter with hellfire shells ~ Boltgun, melta bombs Scout Squad (10) ~ Bolt pistol, close combat weapon (7) ~ Shotgun (2) ~ Veteran Sergeant, melta bombs, bolt pistol, chainsword Scout Squad (10) ~ Bolt pistol, close combat weapon (7) ~ Shotgun (2) ~ Veteran Sergeant, melta bombs, bolt pistol, chainsword Scout Squad (10) ~ Boltgun (9) ~ Boltgun, melta bombs Scout Bike Squadron (3) ~ Astartes grenade launcher (2) ~ Combi-grav, melta bombs Tarantula Sentry Gun Battery (2) ~ Twin-linked lascannon, camo netting (1) ~ Multi-melta, searchlight, camo netting (1) Options Captain will arrive with the Command Squad as this is the best way to keep up with the Scouts. Torn between a storm shield (with this being my only real "beat" squad, I'll probably need to tank stuff) and the Veritas Vitae for that tactical advantage (thinking here to Infiltrate the Tarantulas, possibility of getting Night fight, Stealth in Ruins across the board, and/or other such stuff). Bikes will either Outflank or Scout to make use of the combi-grav. Not sure what best synergises with the grenade launcher though... I've also opted for a BSF to make use of the two (possibly four) combat Scout Squads. Whilst I could use a CAD with potentially eight Objective Secured Squads, I don't feel that they have the durability to pull it off, even if the stars align and I get Stealth everywhere. One interesting twist is that I could trim the "shooty units" from above and use it in conjunction with the 10th Company Task Force from Codex: Space Marines. This could represent the "Elite Scouts" of the BA army and I could even use Telion to represent Captain Borgio of our 10th Company. Thoughts?
  2. Sup team. Wanted to share what i've been dabbling with since the last balance update. Have to say i'm LOVING the modifications to costs/points/rules. I've been having crazy success with the following list: Captain - RFW Jump Cap - Shield/Hammer Jump Chaplain - Fist Jump Chaplain - Fist 10x Jump Intercessors 10x Jump Intercessors 10x Jump Intercessors 5x Assault Intercessors 5x Rievers 5x Scouts 5x Incursors 3x Outriders 3x Outriders ATV ATV Pred Annihilator Pred Destructor Ballistus Invictus Warsuit Impulsor (I was running the ATVs with the outriders, and had one more squad of outriders, but i think for tourney play i'd probs run the rievers instead of the 3rd outrider squad, and the ATV separate). Note that there are no BA units, to make use of the Liberator detachment rule AND the +1 to wound. The shooting and fighting and mobility is just so so good, and I've felt really in control of all the game at all time with access to a variety of tools. How you guys doing?

  4. Before i spend the time putting these guys together and then painting i want you to review the list and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have some of these guys finished and ready but i have a lot more to do. I have 15 Assault Intercessors/jp done, Dante, one Captain/jp one Chaplain/jp and Lemartes al finished. I am going to start on the Death Company next as i have those. This is my List as I'm thinking.   5. Hail Brothers and Sisters! Have my first games for a very, very long time this week and wanted the communities feedback on my intended list and how to run it. Restricted by what I own as just starting out. Tournament escalates from 500 to 750 to 1,000 points over 3 rounds and we vote what to add next round e.g Vehicle however this restriction isn't that important. First round is combat patrol rules so learning those. Then reverts to standard rules. Ideally this is a learning experience with both 10th edition maneuvers and units for a 2k list. At the moment my list is; Librarian in terminator armour X 1. Ballistus dreadnaught x1. Baal predator X 1. Jet pack intercessors X 5. Intercessors X 5. 500 points on the dial. Not ideal to not run the Librarian in a squad. Leaves me with the dilemma about starting him on the table or not. The alternative list is; Librarian in terminator armour x1. Terminators x5. Ballistus Dreadnaught X1. Jetpack intercessors x5. Or intercessors x5. Loose the Baal predator and either mobility or shooting from a squad so both play a bit differently. Any ideas please?   7. Exactly what it sounds like. Got an RTT coming up April 6 and wanted to see if I could get any advice. I play tested it against bugs... once (and due to being out of town for work until the RTT, I won't be able to play test again...), and it performed quite well, but I'm open to suggestions. The tournament is mostly WYSIWYG, and my collection does have limits. One of those limits is that my DC are all poorly equipped, and I'm not touching them until the codex drops. I also don't have any chaplains either, so that's a double whammy against DC. I'm considering dropping the Lieutenant for a techmarine, but I'm not sure. I'm also considering changing the assault ints for regular ints, which would bring the list to an even 2000 points. In any case, list is in the spoiler box below!

Sang priest helps all around so jump pack mandatory. One flant is pushed by cpt+one SG squad and Plasmaceptors, other flank is pushed by ATV + Mephy + Ass Incest. Home objective is held by Infiltrators and near them are bolter Intercessors. Eradicators would be just fire magnets i think or reserves and thrown to do melta things. Second SG squad is counter charge force/ relentless assault scorers with VV's and ATV. What do you guys think ?

  10. Running two patrols here, mainly to avoid a third troop tax and fit in all the stuff I want to try. I know I have to increase the command cost of the patrol with my chapter master, but I'm not sure if that also gets refunded if it has my WL in it. Regardless I'm spending 2 CP on an extra patrol, 1CP on "hero of the chapter", and 1 CP on an extra relic, as well as 1 CP for the blood angels successor tax so I can take a relic of Baal. 5CP, possibly 6 if I don't get refunded for Malakim Phoros. Starting off with 7, not ideal, especially considering I'll likely spend 2 pregame to move the Death company with forlorn fury. I think in friendly games I won't be spending CP to take relics of baal, but in non-friendly games I might get rid of the WL trait for the judiciar(6"heroically intervene is great, but I need CP and it's not as good as the "icon of the angel". Strategy here is to load up the drop pod with 8 devastators, Malakim Phoros, and a Lt with "icon of the angel". They drop down to hopefully join the death company in a first turn charge, but not before unloading melta death into some poor fools. Meanwhile the terminators will combat squad, one in deep strike, the other footing it with the 5man squad of bladeguard. The Sanguinary Priest will be hanging out with them, also the judiciar.   14. Hey guys. Am working on a list for semi-serious games when lockdown comes to and end. Would love your help rounding out this Battalion I'm working on. The aim is to have a tough to crack hammer that slowly advances, plus hilarious jump pack shenanigans that force the opponent to act. The below is at 1904 and starts with 7cp. How would you round it out? Chapter master. Jump pack, relic blade, storm shield. Warlord - iron resolve. Angel Exemplar- gift of foresight (-1cp). Relic: angel artifice. This guy is hilarious T5, 7W, 1+,4++, 6+++ and a re-roll each turn. And plenty of damage output and mobility and buffs. Primaris chap on bike. Another beatstick. Make him the master of sanctity, give him the re-roll hits in combat litany and the self-buff mantra of strength for +1S,A&D. Then the benediction of fury relic(-1cp) for the lols of a potentially 4D crozius. Sanguinary priest with jump pack, and the selfless healer warlord trait (-1cp) from chief apothecary. Heal twice. Res for free. Put stuff in the assault doctrine early. Enough said. Judiciar- just with the selfless valour trait (-1cp) for 6" heroic intervention to make sure of that sweet sweet fight last. Sanguiary ancient- power fist and wrath of baal banner (-1cp) for +2move for jumpers. 8 sanguinary guard. Only 8 because I still want to have friends. 2 swords, 3 axes, 3 fists because that's how I have them modelled. With heirs of azkelion and the warlord nearby even the power fists hit on 2's... 5 vanguard vets. 2 bullet soakers with chainswords and storm ahields (2+/4++). 2 with twin lightning claws and vet sergeant with a relic blade and storm shield do the damage to any infantry. 3 bladeguard Redemptor dread. Love this guy. Macro plasma, gatling cannon, icarus apod and storm bolters. Hangs out with the bladeguard looking mean. 5 assault intercessors 5 assault intercessors 5 intercessors - bolt rifles, chainsword on the Sergeant 5 plasma inceptors. These guys are mean. With a chapter master, they do work. How would you round to 2k? I'm thinking some eradicators for more shooty, outriders or van vets for more choppy. I know I've got a lot of characters... could definitely ditch one, or replace the bike chaplain with a foot slogging one.
  15. While this is not the first list I have posted here to this forum this will be the first list I will hopefully will bring to the table top. Since my first attempt at a combat patrol I have been ensnared by the fury of the blood angels. My plan is to get used to playing a 500 point list to gain experience in the hobby, then increase my armies size. I'm hoping to get some mileage out of the models I currently have from the dark imperium box, but I understand that I will have to spend some money to create a list. However I still have a few questions, so criticism is welcome. Blood angels combat patrol HQ- Primaris Chaplain on Bike(Warlord)-115 points - Absolver bolt pistol, Crozius arcanum, frag and krak grenades, Twin bolt rifle, warlord trait: ?, relic: icon of the angel, litanies: litany of hate, canticle of hate So here are the questions I have about the loadout of this model. 1.Which warlord trait would make the most sense for this chaplain? So far I'm leaning towards rites of war since I'll be using him to be up front supporting my hard charging units. 2. Are any of the special issue war gear options worth taking? I think quake bolts could be useful to help pin a unit to be charged. I really like how this model looks and the tactical options it gives me. That's why I'm willing to wait for it to come back in stock rather than replace it with something else like a chaplain with a jump pack. Troops- Intercessor squad(4 intercessors, 1 intercessor sergeant)-100 points - bolt rifles, frag and krak grenades Elites- Sanguinary guard( 5 sang guard)- 150 points - angelus boltgun, encarmine sword What do you guys think of this loadout? I'm not sure I need to take an power fists on this unit as most 500 point games will not feature to many high toughness multi-wound models. I also plan to take some more high firepower units or maybe some death company or assault terminators toting thunder hammers. Fast attack- Inceptors( 2 inceptors, 1 inceptor sergeant)-135 points - assault bolters This unit I'm not tied to. Its 135 points that could be replaced with something else. The firepower on plasma inceptors in more enticing anyway. If you were playing this list what would you include? I could include another troop choice or an elite choice for this points cost that would fit better in the blood angels wheelhouse. Looking forward to your opinions.
  16. I've been working on this and tweaking for a while now and would like some advice on if its viable or not. The idea is to give the Chapter master re-rolls to one of the Plasma Inceptor units, let a second benefit from the Decent of Angels strat and then it and the third use the re-roll 1's aura, as well as re-rolling 1's from Wisdom of the ancients, placement and battlefield situation allowing. The Sanguinary Priest is included to provide it's 6+FNP and healing/rez'ing. The librarian with jump pack is intended to strip high value targets of their invulnerables, letting all the plasma do its work. The three Tactical squads are intended to take and hold objectives while the rest of the army engages targets. The sergeants have chainswords in order to benefit from the BA's +1 to wound CT. I've settled on something I really, really like - and something that mitigates some of the weaknesses i was experiencing with previous builds. A lot of my previous builds were based around DFA. It is SUCH an easy secondary to score- especially with Devs, inceptors or attack bikes - never mind charging units. The issue I was running into time and time again was that i needed too much off the board to make it really worthwhile, making my board presence very weak - especially if i went second. Fury of the Lost was next on the list. That led me to this: LIST: DC Bike Captain - Hammer, Visage, Rites Astorath - Mantra/Rage (SoulWarden) 2x5 Infiltrators 1x5 Assault Inters - Hammer (debating MC Hammer) 2x5 DC - 4Hammers, JP 1x5 DC - JP 1x5 DC Inters - Hammer 1x7 SG - 4Axe, 3Sword 2x3 Eliminators - 2Fusil, 1Carbine 2x5 Assault Marines - 2Melta, 1Claw, 1Infernus 2x Impulsors - Ironhail upgrades LIST OVERVIEW: With demons in the meta, Infiltrators are now worth their weight in gold. They're pricier, and less useful for DFA than the Incursors on account of no combat ability, but their blocking really changes things up. The Impulsors may look like an odd choice, but really help with a variety of tactical options. First and foremost, they provide some decent dakka - each putting out 20x S4 shots (12 of which are -1ap) That annoying plink damage adds up fairly. Secondly, they're able to tank MWs well. Drop Armour of Contempt strat and you need around 16 MWs to take it out - protecting sqquishy troops inside Thirdly, the ability to drop ObSec troops on a far away objective makes the combo with shock amazing. Finally, you can also use the universal strat Emergency Disembark after positioning the vehicle in a way that seems unassuming to jump onto distant, or unprotected objectives. All in all, some solid utility. The Eliminators provide some annoying plink damage too, but also give you a 14-19" move onto forward objectives or locations if need be. The assault guys offer some decent close range melta support, along with some melta bombs for the vehicles and can help with actions and objective grabs. Then of course there's the Lost; 5 units of them, allowing for some good drip feed secondary points. If planned well, you can get 5 points just from them dying. I'm gonna get some reps in with this list and see what we can do with it!
  21. Taking this up against either Aeldari or Imperial knights this Saturday. The only painted and based models I have that aren't in the list are a gravis captain and jump captain with TH and Plasma Pistol (holdover from 8th). How screwed am I, and/or does anyone have any tips from either a list building standpoint (not that there's much wiggle room), or strategy in the tabletop. Not using Nephilim CP/Relic/WL trait rules.
  22. Got a local RTT coming up in January and this is the list I'm thinking of running. I know the dreadnoughts aren't in Vogue, but I am slightly limited by my collection, they also performed decently in my last few games, and my hobby time is booked solid already preparing for it. It's nothing groundbreaking, but I think this is a decently solid list (aside from possibly the Dreadnaught and furioso), and I'm just wondering if any of you good people agrees. If not, I am open to suggestions! I'm not looking to win the thing, but I am looking to perform better than last tournament. That said, it shouldn't be too hard as I ended up 22nd out of 24th! For what it's worth, here's my total painted asset list (or what will be painted by the time the RTT arrives).

Until the Astartes codex arrives in Autumn I don't have a very clear idea of what works and what doesn't, so I'm asking you battle-brothers for inspiration. I don't play competitive hence I have the luxury of playing pure Primaris lists too (because I like the Primaris' models' proportions...) Based on models I already own I made three variations of an armoured assault list. I 'd love to hear your thoughts! 2000 points - One Raider is a target, two is a trouble... but for me too 80 Primaris Captain, MC power sword & shield 200 Bladeguard Vets (6) 50 Bladeguard Ancient 275 Land Raider, Lascannons 65 Primaris Chaplain 180 Death Company Intercessors (10), 1 power fist, 9 chainswords 255 Land Raider Crusader 65 Primaris Techmarine 205 Terminator squad (5) 225 Redemptor Dreadnought, Macro-plasma incinerator 220 Brutalis Dreadnought, weapons??? 90 Infiltrators (5) 90 Incursors (5) Simple plan, saturate the battlefield with heavy armour to avoid focus fire. Two Raiders and two Dreadnoughts advance forward, the Infiltrators hold home objective, the Incursors improve the hit rolls of other units, the Terminators probably stay in reserve and the Techmarine is there because nothing else fitted with the remaining points. The assault ramps of the Raiders are a huge bonus, the Bladeguard group slaughters anything with Red Rampage, etc. The problem is the small number of units at the beginning of the battle and the difficult charge from deep striking Terminators. 2000 points - Terminator chances improved 80 Primaris Captain, MC power sword & shield, Artisan of War 200 Bladeguard Vets (6) 50 Bladeguard Ancient 275 Land Raider, Lascannons 65 Primaris Chaplain, Icon of the Angel 180 Death Company Intercessors (10), 1 power fist, 9 chainswords 195 Repulsor 95 Terminator Captain, weapons??? 205 Terminator squad (5) 225 Redemptor Dreadnought, Macro-plasma incinerator 220 Brutalis Dreadnought, weapons??? 90 Infiltrators (5) 90 Incursors (5) So, now without an assault ramp the DC will have to work more to find the right moment to charge, there is no Techmarine to babysit the vehicles, but the Terminators became a lot more deadly as a Captain is leading them. The few remaining points went to two enhancements. 1995 points - More terrifying walkers! 80 Primaris Captain, MC power sword & shield 200 Bladeguard Vets (6) 50 Bladeguard Ancient 275 Land Raider, Lascannons 65 Primaris Chaplain 180 Death Company Intercessors (10), 1 power fist, 9 chainswords 95 Terminator Captain, weapons??? 205 Terminator squad (5) 225 Redemptor Dreadnought, Macro-plasma incinerator 220 Brutalis Dreadnought, weapons??? 220 Brutalis Dreadnought, weapons??? 90 Infiltrators (5) 90 Incursors (5) A Repulsor's armour is not like the Raider's, the DC have to run instead. But (by removing the enhancements too) now I can field an additional Brutalis Dreadnought, nod bad, right?

Yo dawg, I heard you liked inferno pistols with your jump packs… Lemartes 10 Death Company Marines with Jump Packs Chaplain with Jump Pack x 3 10 Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs x 3 Captain with Jump Pack x 3 10 Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs x 3 1990 points Death company marines all have power fists and inferno pistols. Vanguard veterans all have inferno pistols. Chaplains go with the veterans to give them lethal hits and +1 to wound on the charge. Captains go with the intercessors so that 2 squads per turn can use Red Rampage for lethal hits and +1 to wound on the charge. This is the ultimate glass cannon army. But it has the movement to choose when and where to fire off each cannon. If you don’t embrace YOLO without reservation, you might want to give this one a pass.
  25. Greetings Brothers, I have a Necron Incursion to defeat. Scout reports indicate the Necrons are fielding a large 10-20 troop blob on foot with several re-animation enhancing leaders. There is at least one vehicle destroying unit and scary melee unit. Scarab units in abundance. The Necrons seem to have mainly short to medium ranged firepower. I am looking at running. Phobos Captain Incursor x5 Incursor x5 Assault intercessors with jump packs x5 Eliminator squad las fusil x2 Hellblaster squad x5 Inceptors, assault bolters x3 Invictor Tactical Warsuit, incendium cannon x1 Redemptor Dread x1 I have considered dropping/adding an Incursor squad/Invictor adding Eradicators, a Whirlwind, JP Death Company or even throwing a Vindicator in. Ive a pretty good collection of BA and can run pretty much any models. Probably running Gladius but open to suggestions here. Battle report to follow hopefully
