Omnissiah's blessing to all, I'm creating this as a project log for my Lucius AdMech and Steel Confessor allies. I generally find that I will build a model and fail to get it a proper coat of paint before my hobby ADD finds something else I want to build . I hope by posting my WIP's here it will help keep me motivated when it comes to actually painting the models and allows me a place to ask for feedback. Started collecting Skittari/AdMech in late 7th but with 8th here I feel the itch to get some powered armored allies for my warriors of the blessed Omnissiah. I decided on the Steel Confessors as it was a Chapter with very close ties to the Mechanicus but very little fluff on it, which I thought was perfect for conversion opportunities and would help make forging my armies background a little easier. I also remember waaaay back when I was a wee lad and my local GW had to paint up some minis for their event.....Also I was tired of painting black/darkend metal so didn't want to go Iron Hands Pads are from the wonderful Plokoone: Here I know Lexi and the 40k wiki have their colour scheme as Steel-Grey however every time I viewed the picture of the massive Steel Confessor space marine done up for the event it always looked like it had a blue'ish undercoat/tinge, so I went with that also because I find it more interesting than just painting steel/silver and a nuln oil wash . Here's some pics of what I'm currently working on: The first test model, mostly done, just need to touch up some of the red bits and I'm thinking of what to highlight the green trim with.. or even if I should and apply the tactical and squad markers on the right shoulder pad (still unsure if I want to try a paint pen or perhaps some 3rd party pads). Currently unsealed, from what I've seen online since my model is mainly metallic I should do a glossy coat then a dull, or perhaps a semi-gloss then dull as I dislike the slimy look a gloss seal gives off, just worried about a possible colour change. With these two below I've applied 2 alternating coats of Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue and Tamiya Light Gun Metal. I then dry brushed on some leadbelcher, careful to leave some of the blush'ish silver area's only lightly touched where the darkened/shadowy area's should be. unlike the above test model in which I went a little ham with the dry brushing. I then used nuln oil to bring out some of the detail. These two still need a final dry brushing of leadbelcher to touch up the areas i went over the nuln, and then a final highlighting of stormhost silver (once the arms are attached ). Hope you all enjoy and I look forward to posting more.
