Security group inbound++ +Access granted - request for data transfer to connected data slate granted+ Fusilis Forgeworld, Proximia Fusilis, Segmentum Pacificus The Cabal of the Molten Flow was originally based on Fusilis, a Forge World known for its production of crystals used in Power armour and Titan weapon systems. The planet is volcanically active, the various land masses covered in a black ash, the skies perpetually dark. The natives are indentured slaves put to work in bringing materials to the surface, many having never seeing the outside world. Fusilis was originally a penal colony, the convicted put to work constructing weapons that would be put to use defending the local systems. When the discover was made, the Adeptus Mechanicus petitioned the High Lords of Terra to administer the world. Permission was granted. Founding The Cabal of the Molten Flow was founded by Magos Hernafso's predecessor, Magos Bovane around 774.M41. A small group of exploratory Mechanicus were diverted to investigate the viability of the planet as a Forgeworld after learning of it's volatile nature. Magos Bovane died due to severe old age, his augmetics finally unable to keep him alive. Hernafso was named his successor. Cabal of the Molten Flow The Cabal takes its name from the perpetual volcanic activity on the planet. The main continent which housed the Mechanicus' fortress was sited next to the largest lava flow. Vast machines designed only to hold and control that flow channelled the heat, turning it into viable energy. Every initiate to the Mechanicus priesthood was required to thrust their right arm into a rivulet of Lava channelled off for the purpose. The ritual was to show their dedication to the Omnnisiah and to the Priesthood itself. The lost limb was replaced with one that was appropriate to their specific task and function. The crystal After centuries, the Forgeworlds ruling Magos, Hernafso had turned away from the Mechanicus' doctrines, although his betrayal went unnoticed for some time. He had discovered a crystal that, despite his best efforts could not be pierced to sample, would not break, it's hardness far tougher than anything else on the Mohs scale and would not yield its secrets to every form of scanning device known to the Mechanicus. It's appearance was that of a yellow diamond, its facets flawless to the naked eye. He became more and more reclusive, often spending weeks at a time alone in its study leaving mundane details such as monitoring the worlds output to menials. After many years, he had finally surfaced from his quarters a changed man. His augmetics had changed drastically, their number increasing sharply to an extent that it was almost impossible to see any flesh left in his form. The crystal he had spent so long studying was never mentioned, never seen by his underlings, who dared not enquire of it. Only his direct subordinate and rumoured successor, a Tech priest named Mirosa suspected anything in his drastically changed demeanour. Mirosa made no attempt to hide her own curiosity, much to Hernafso's amusement, a rare sign of emotive behaviour. Slowly, the magos revealed some of the secrets he was privy to, but everything pertaining to the crystal and some other data Mirosa was desperate to obtain, were kept from her. The Mechanicus of Mars eventually saw the downward spiral of the Forgeworlds annual output and sent a fleet to investigate. Units of Skitarii were sent along with another Magos and agents of the Inquisition to bring Hernafso to account. He was never found, leaving the planet before they arrived. He took some of his trusted subordinates with him , Mirosa included. The others were found disected and worse, their corpses defiled by someone fervently wishing to learn what made them function. The Imperium officially declared them to be Hereteks, every system within the area told to be vigilant for signs under pain of extreme retribution. Rare are the accounts that place them in Imperial space again. Betrayal, and an alliance The Cabal met with disaster when it encountered a small force of Eldar on an unnamed planet it had taken refuge upon to avoid Imperial forces in the area. Much of the Skitarii had been heavily damaged or destroyed, but they had held out long enough for the Xenos to withdraw, their mercurial interests taking them elsewhere. Dissent grew amongst the Tech Priests that remained, Mirosa being the most outspoken. Her own attempts to expand her knowledge was stunted by blocks to the main portion of the Cabals Noosphere and data storage system. By know, she had become powerful in her own right, her knowledge in biomechanical manipulation second only to the Magos. Her ultimate intention was to wrest such knowledge from him, but to do that, she needed a way of deposing him... Arrival of the Bahltimyr Reavers How the Warband of Rai Lurweiss came to form an alliance with the Cabal is a question that few have solid answers to. Some Imperial scholars posit that the Reavers had found the Cabal out through their own raids, slowly recognising their handiwork. Others think that the Cabal had contacted the Warband, a dangerous gambit, especially when it is known that Lurweiss himself has a volatile and duplicitous nature. In any case, a meeting was called to forge and pact to ensure both parties would continue. In reality, the meeting was a double cross, Mirosa having made an agreement with the Lord of Bahltimyr already. With Hernafso deposed, the sum of his work was now hers. Or so she thought. The data cache she had forcibly removed from his corpse was encrypted, the data only becoming available in small portions. It has not stopped her turning her attention to the problem the Reavers have - wild mutations and extreme psychosis. Notable members Magos Hernafso A man of renown in his field of Archaeological Geo-meta physics, he guarded his secrets from everyone in his Cabal. When the Forgeworld he oversaw fell into decline, the Adeptus Mechanicus saw fit to punish him. The crystal he found was reputed to have been lost. It is susected that Mirosa might know of its wherabouts, and of its origin... Mirosa. Was originally loyal to her Magos, but her frustrations grew when she realised that her own work was hampered by the lack of data that Hernafso had access to. She was also intrigued by the changes wrought to her mentors body. Even for a Magos, he had changed drastically. Her frustations eventually led to her betraying him and entering into a pact with Rai Lurweiss to solve his Warbands inclination to mutations and madness. Significant battles joined The battle of Mica Weir The remnants of the Cabal were seen to be supporting the Warband known as the Bahltimyr Reavers. Much of the remaining Skitarii augmented with horrifying augmetics and unnatural organics. They have not been seen since... Feedback most welcome!
