Rogue Trader Entourage – Part 2
Bouargh posted a blog entry in Bouargh´s miniatures´ closet clean-up
Hi folks, As I introduced it previously [Not GSC - Rogue Trader Entourage Part 1 - How to pretend not starting an army - The Bolter and Chainsword], I have recently bought some new models to be painted and included in my Imperium forces under the form of an Inquisitorial retinue and some RT Entourage. My objective was, initially, to get back in service some iddled miniatures I have here or there as an Inquisitorial Retinue. But this trend led me to expanding the option with a RT entourage and a Breacher unit as a retinue. This stands as a summary of past episode. It is eventually arguable that these lads will bring little to my existing forces, but the combo of Entourage protected by Breachers might eventually be a big chunk. I guess they still can join either my Mechanicus or Astra Militarum as a 14 men strong unit with Rejuvenat and 2 rather strong HtH miniatures (the RT and the Assassin) can be a good unit to take and hold a critical objective. The cherry on the cupcake being the option to relocate (up to) 3 Battleline units… Yet, point value wise, it ain’t no bargain, and either the Skitarii or the Guardsmen can probably make a better use of their own codex’ units from their rooster to infiltrate and hold objectives. I will not comment further about the interest for my SW which, with almost half company of Scouts available in my collection, can do as good as far as infiltrate and take &hold is concerned. Yet, with lower counts Marines, redeployment can be a nice add-On. But does this randomized option (D3 units affected) worths the cost of a single entourage? ‘Nough said, these Imperial agents will be for fun only and eventually a game of KT (that I might practice once a year or so). But the dirtiest trick will be for the option of redeployment offered by the Entourage applied to Imperial Knights. Even if it applies only to Battleline units, my 3 Moirax (which BTW are not Legends) do still have the Battleline keyword . Which opens interesting possibilities for my new born small Imperial Knight army (currently 1 Styrix and 3 Moirax - even if the latter are only at priming stage)… Providing my gaming partners understand and agree that I will go for the fun way and that I will set emphasis on a probably unbalanced way of playing. So how does these lads look like now? Let’s see the assembly so far for the RT and the Breachers - as you can see, these are freshly primed: The most interresting stuff about Breachers is that they can be tooled up in an almost exactly identical fashion in KT that in streamlined 40k. This is a real advantage vs. other factions such as Servitors Clades (or Mandrakes) for exemple that differ significatively from one setting to another (losing their Specialists). The Inquisitor Retinue is, on the other hand, more “advanced” in terms of paint job. Sure, it deals with adding a couple of miniatures to 3 iddled models from the very early version of Imperial Agent/=][= codexor left over 1st Ed. Necromunda model. So 3 out of 5 are already painted. 6 out of 8 in reality as I have more unused models such as Regimental advisors models and proxies too. So, most of these will need a harmonization of the basing. Probably one half will go Tanned earth and the other half will stay plastcrete. Or I will merge every one into a single unit. Beyond these 2 extra miniatures added (Infocyte and Infotek), I still need 2 extra member and 2 Gun Servitors if I want a full tilt. I have btw just found a second hand store operating in the neighborghood, which has some Servitors and maybe more iddle miniatures. I will have to get a closer look... I also have a boatload of GSC cultists that can be kitbashed... Might it be a way? New lad and chicks: Old boyz and galz: What else? Well, two AdMech characters primed: Secutarii Axiarch and Technoarcheologist (I've had planned a small weapon swap initially. But this was before...). This will raise my Marshall and Archeologist head count to 3 for each. As you see I was in a serial priming mood... It is now time to determine which ones will be enlisted in the 12 MoH challenge for this ultimate month of 2025. See you.- 2 comments

Not GSC - Rogue Trader Entourage Part 1
Bouargh posted a blog entry in How to pretend not starting an army
Hi folks, For a while now I have pledged to myself a kind of oath of honor: I will not buy any model that is (too) obviously deemed to be shelved out a short/medium range. It looks like I have failed with the pledge and betrayed that oath. Indeed, I have just acquired a box of Navy Breachers. And a set a characters from various GW settings in order to gather my very own custom made Rogue Trader Entourage. But I am not playing GSC, even if, as you will see, some or even most of the model could be aligned within my not GSC very-long-term-committed-but-very-slowly-progressing-project. Where all of this comes from? Well from a new hobby symptom I hadn’t suffered from up to recently: I have started buying models just because I like them and not because I do plan playing with them. As my skills are limited in terms of painting, I will not use the words “showcasing models”. It is just a stressed rule of cool syndrome. Among the models I have bought in this dynamic are Lady Credo, the Heretek, the Infotek and an Infocyte. And while trying to figure out what I could do with these I ended up with the idea to build some patchworked teams eventually usable as RT entourage and/or an Inquisitorial Retinue. But while I wasn’t initially planning to get them playable, I ended identifying the gaps that were in need of being filled-up to make them playable. I am under a spell of pure witchcraft I my opinion. So what is missing? For the Inquisitorial retinue, a gun servitor, but I have a kitbashed Seer with mining laser that might be used as a proxy. I have then plenty of old/isolated models that can be used together to figure a retinue. So, done, even if the counts require adding at least the Infotek to the fray. But for the RT Entourage, I need stuff to be aligned along Credo (the RT) and the Heretek (the Techy): a Medic/Rejuvenat Adept and a Death Cult Assassin. But what has all of this to do with NOTGSC? Well, even if I am NOT playing GSC, I went to incorporating a Biophagus and a Sanctus as base models to be adapted to their new roles and responsabilities within the RT Entourage. So these will need some kit bash to be "deGSCfied". The idea is simple head swaps, removal of the GSC symbols and probably a weapon swap using Sicarian phase sword or knife. It will allow me completing a nice proxy Entourage to be used, for example, with my AM to be uses on purpose of redeployment of Battleline units. The same with my AdMech. And may be with my SW. But the dirtiest trick will be for the option of redeployment offered by the Entourage would be to use it for my 3 (newly bought) Moirax (restricted to friendly games under Legends) but that still do have the Battleline keyword. Which opens interesting possibilities for my small Imperial Knight army (currently 1 Styrix and 3 Moirax)… Providing my gaming partner understand and agree that I will go for the fun way and probably unbalanced way. And, if, one day, I accidentaly end up playing GSC anyway, these 2 models will still be perfect models to be used for what they are... How does it looks like afetr a small cutting and glueing session? Let's see: The Rejuvenat is of course based on the Biophagus. Here I removed the medallion of its GSC cult and swapped his head with a spare one from a Datasmith. Simple. The Assassin is based on the Sanctus model. It was a atd more complex. First its scenic base make difficult to set it on a 25 mm base. It will stick to its larger base therefore. The head swap is based on the Sicarian Ruststalker Princeps, which fits perfectly. The blade was first tested with a phase sword but it looked odd. So I have changed for a phase knife. Looks OK. The second arm was first thought to be changed with an augmetic and Chord Claws. But it was not that easy to do at past midnight and I was partly convinced I would massacre the statuary of the scenic base. So I gave up. Result? Here it is, before final cleaning: And a familly portrait of these 2 kit bashes. Next step will be assembly of Lafy Credo and the Hertek. And the Entourage will be done. In the mean time, Familliar will be stored with my spare Acolyte hybrids to be eventually used latter or traded. See you.
