Hey there, Now, I know my name isn't very 'ultramarine-y' but please hear me out. I've been a long term marine player, who moves from niche to niche. I started with blood angels, moved to iron hands and then to space wolves. I love all of them, I loved the rip and tear nature of blood angels and wolves, the cold calculating style of Iron Hands, however something was missing. There are small things I dislike about them all and I don't really like how non-uniform the Space Wolves are, or how linear the playstyle of the Iron Hands seemed to be (get tanks and crush things). So, I thought I'd move to one of the most versatile chapters of the Space Marines, ultramarines. Unfortunately due to timing I've made this move right after getting crushed by my friends orks, after telling him about how the top tier marine armies include guilliman and TLAC Razorbacks I feel like he's going to think this is a cheesy move. He already despises the ultramarines too, do you guys ever get called out for playing them? Are you like me playing them for their versatility or is there another reason? Do people call you cheesy or publicly hate on your choice of ultramarines in a way that seems a bit more than the typical 'banter'? I have a lot of primaris marines and I love them to be honest, however I didn't want to use them in my SW army cause they make all the other marines look like dwarves. So my plan was a UM spin off chapter or even a 'guard' for Guilliman or the like, based around 1st Company, using Primaris instead of Veterans. So a mix of Primaris units and terminators. My colour scheme is as follows: http://imgur.com/a/VzVtS Firstly please ignore the modelling mistakes, these were a test batch made probably late at night after a night out due to excitement. However have you got any constructive criticism on the scheme itself? My brother (an ultramarine player) recommended blue shoulder pads to tie them into the Ultramarines and then use a transfer over that. I was wondering if I should make them look clean or go for a more dirty and blooded look. However when it came to adding blood effect, them not having melee weapons made me wonder where I should add it. Also there are still some details to add like on the purity seals I know. On another note, anyone that's doing a spin off company do you ever use any of the ultramarine special characters? Would it be cheesy for me to run Guilliman or Marneus with these guys? Would you think they should be the traditional colours or match the army itself? I'm sorry if these questions seem out of place or don't fit here. I wanted to get a good grasp of everything and understand things. I worry people will think I'm only changing to ultramarines for the 'metaness' of them.. Thanks for help in advance guys.
