Hail Brothers and Sisters, Just thought I'd make a quick post to share some early observations for the 9th legion in 11th. Detachments will probably get shaken up with codexes but they really are shaping scoring in 11th. RCO & purge the foe is quite strong. Bigger units particulary do well here as it will help with scoring. Taking a lot of aggressive jump pack units and really breaking lines to get into the back field will score well. Secondaries will reward you for aggresive play. LAG & Take and Hold is also actually quite strong too, which suprised me. Getting one more objective then the opposition scores well enough to win most games. Landraiders and Repulsors, assault terminators, librarians and Sang Priests are very strong here. Even Gravis armour helps with Take and Hold as the extra toughness and wounds works well sitting on objectives. 10 Intercessors with a 4+ Librarian are even good, and can counter charge and out shoot weaker units. The trick with Take and Hold is keep your SG and death company back until you take the objectives with 'troop' types. Then use them to charge the stuff assaulting your objectives. Melta and HB erradicators on an objective are very good at holding too. Baal predators are strong in both and so are our DC dreads. The Baal in take and hold is very strong and very interested to see if we keep it. Land raiders with heavy flamers too. The Ork burna's new profile is a good indicator of where flammers are headed in 11th, a set number of attacks and blast seems thematic (better against hordes). Infernus marines got a 5 point hike and think they might end up and auto include in both RCO and Take and hold. Battleshock now being ongoing is very big. You roll each turn now to recover and Red rampage must be used very wisely. RCO has these issues as well as the 1+ attack on the charge and the more ongoing combats in 11th mean you get a sugar hit on the charge but potentially much worse in ongoing combats. The new rotating order on ongoing combats is very important, and one must pay attention to this similar to picking which combats go first to avoid interupts (if you pick the wrong one first you will take more damage). Also some detachments are looking quite promising. The Librarian conclave suits Take and hold and RCO with some great buffs for increasing threat range as well as substituting the +2 strength we'd get from LAG. Its built for assault terminators and the sustained hits 1 on thunder hammers from the Librarian is 'swear dodge filter' excellent. Also as a cheeky detachment orbital assault force can be good for us. Particulary those who enjoyed Matt Ward's deepstriking landraiders in 5th. I've used a landraider with a squad of melta erradicators, a lancer and Balliatus dreadnaught. A DC dread or repulsor full or terminators or hellblasters as well could be hilarious for somebody. Let me know of I've missed anything and best of luck in 11th. Also just saw there is a flare with banner of the month. Good timing as have a 1st and a 2nd company banner on the painting desk. Keep an eye out for these.

Hey everyone, I’m still fairly new to 40K and only recently learned what “Legends” units are. I jumped in pretty quickly and picked up a few models before fully understanding how that impacts matched play and future-proofing. Since then, the new Space Wolves release dropped, and I’ve already painted Logan Grimnar on Stormrider. I still have a Stormfang and a Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf that are primed and base coated. I also have plenty of non-Legends units I could focus on instead. I’m trying to decide what makes the most sense: Finish painting them and keep them in the collection? Try to sell them and reinvest into current units? Shelf them for now and focus on newer releases? For those of you who’ve been through edition changes and range updates before — what would you recommend? Do Legends units tend to come back in some form, or is it better to move on early? I’m open to competitive play but also really enjoy the hobby and collecting side, so I’m trying to make a smart long-term call. Appreciate any insight.
