Greetings brethren. 2000ptTournament coming up shortly and have decided to run THE 2 greatest chapters BlackTemplars and Ravenguard in a Hammer/Anvil sort of list. For the Templars HMHelwrekt Emperors Champion TwinAC Dreadnought Honorguard(Ax and Powerswerd) Apothecary LZ/PLz RzrBack(strombltr ,HK missle) This makes up a Vanguard formation in addition to the Ravenguards battalion Also for the Templars is a Patrol detachment Techmarine(Ax and Conversion Beamer) 20 Man Crusader sqd(Swerdbrethren w Strombltr and chainswerd) 6 man Tactical sqd (Sgt.dual wielding chainswerdz and MeltaBombs,Spclwpn.Plasma gun The Ravenguard is a Battalion Shrike Smashcpt.(Jumpack,T.Hammer,Strombltr) ×2 Vanguardvets (sgt.dual Claws ,4vets dualwielding PlzmaPistols!) Scoutbike sqd Land speeder storm ×3 Scout sqd I believe w the current detachments(Battalion,Vanguard,Patrol) should net me 9CP. Is that enough? Im reluctant to dwnsize Crusader1 for CP i may not even need . Really my question is mostly what options / stratagems am i overlooking? Additionally what artifacts might be most beneficial?

I have a one day 1750pt tournament next weekend between two bigger tournaments. Last weekend I gave my Death Guard a retirement outing at warhammer world and at the end of the month I'm bringing Tyranids to Cardiff but that's a 2000 point tournie so I can't practice for it at the 1750 event. Since this is a nearby one day tournie I can take whatever army I want without worrying about spending money on hotels only to get my ass kicked. But my Black Templars were built for 5th ed and then late 7th ed and I only have one week to get my crusade ready. Marshall Armand and his loyal chaplain brother Roul were rebased onto 32mm earlier this year, they haven't really been on the field since 5th ed. They need a little work. I picked these up as my souvenir from the GT. I could vow them in Knightfall but they're going to be split up as unit champions. Then I just have a bunch of other guys to get ready to join my existing models.

So looking to start a new army for my first attempt at tournament play, been playing 40k for over 10 years but want something with some 'teeth' Here's what I came up with: Battalion Detachment Warlord- Brood Lord: Monstrous rending claws: 162pts (Norn Crown) The Swarm Lord: 300pts Tyrannocyte: 5 deathspitters: 123pts Winged Hive Tyrant: two pairs of monstrous scything talons: 200pts 20 genestealers: rending claws and 5 acid maws: 240pts 20 genestealers: rending claws and 5 acid maws: 240pts 20 genestealers: rending claws and 5 acid maws: 240pts Patrol Detachment Old One Eye: 200pts 3 rippers: 33pts Screamer killer: spore cysts: 130pts Screamer killer: spore cysts: 130pts 1998pts total The cunning plan is that the swarmlord pods down, supported by a winged tyrant to ensure the most optimal turn one charges (whether it be winged tyrant into stormraven/other flier, or the swarmlord into pretty much anything else) after softening the target up with a few smites. Using the Kraken ability you should be joined by a swarm of stealers in their lines, and giving old one eye and his mates time to catch up if they can't make it to combat until turn two to mop up what's left (and if they can't at least they're at -1 to hit). As for the rippers? well they can hide off the board til turn three to camp an objective late game, or really whatever they want to do! (they're a bit of a tax to get my 4th Hq but I feel like they could clinch games occasionally, and if it's a killpoint game at least they're easily hidden!) I'm completely new to 'nids so any thoughts/tweaks greatfully received!

I didn't want to go back to that super muddy thread of mine. I ended up going with the Mortarion list, hoping to bring a fun, better painted army to the tournament, as competitive as it would be. I have some mixed feelings, but all in all it was fun, I learned a lot, and the event was very well run. I lost the debate on using Warp Time, while keeping my Daemon Prince "Death Guard". Long story, I didn't want to push it, I know this was a huge hit to my army but I was fine with that considering my state of mind on entering the tournie. (Let's be honest I was playtesting and getting hosed with Mortarion every game for weeks on end.) So my list ended up looking like this: Mortarion Plaguecaster 5 Plaguemarines in a Rhino 1 Toilet Cannon dude 1 Pooflinger dude 10 Poxwalkers 10 Cultists 2 Plagueburst Crawlers 2 Poxbringers 3 x 3 Nurglings. I will say this much I did a report with pictures on my blog. I go through the games quickly, and highlight them with some various pictures, but I skip a lot to keep it brief. If you want to see the game highlights then here's the LINK If you want to spoil the games, and don't care about details/pics, then click on the spoiler for win/losses/results: Thanks for everyone chiming in here, and I appreciated bouncing some stuff off of you guys. :tu:
