Would it be posible to get you to do one for the Second Company of Steel Battalion?

Chapter colours are Bolt gun silver for the armour, Black for the shoulder guards, and non-metal parts of their bolters, Shining gold trim, with white squad markings.

Chapter markings are a tank crossed with a bolter.

Steel Talons

Iron Hands successor chapter, though they're not so fond of the bionics

Chapter Colors, Green eyes, gold chest eagles, blue bolter casings, their armor as a whole is a little bit hard to describe, it's sort of a blackened silver. it's not hard to paint, but I don't know how to draw it really. It's basically chaos black lightly drybrushed with mithril silver (then given another coat if it's not shiny enough or inked to dull it down again etc.) Their shoulder pads and knee pads are solid black. The company of them that I run is led by a captain who uses gold in all his heraldry, so the (codex) tactical markings should be gold too. I'm still working a bit on the insignia I'm afraid, but it's going to be a bird's talon, preferably in silver

IA article here

Thanks! And keep up the great work

Wow this is cool. Scally I would really appreciate some of your art for my chapter. Oceania Chapter.

This is bascially what my chapter looks like. If you were able, I love you to be to do these guys. The symbol is http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/kilianjay/chapbadge.jpg sort of like an Oakley O. the other shoulder pad is covered with like water silhouettes, sort of how water reflects light on to a wall. To the marines this represents the power of the ocean and grants them some of it. The theme is for everything to be a different shade of blue, even the metal has a blue tinge.

My humble IA:

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=102101

Thats some good looking work. I'm still brainstorming the concept so it may seem a little scattered

Here it goes:

Chapter Name:Storm Ravens

Symbol: Black Raven on Quaterd Gold Lighting Bolts.

Geneseed: Raven Guard

Home World: Lovitar (Victorian era Death World. Large Primordial forests, Big Preadators.)

Specailties: Raiding, Covert Ops, Urban Warfare

Colors: Glossy Black armor, Dark Green shoulder, Silver Eyes

Rank is shown by the trim on the shoulders.

Gold = Command

Brass= Vet

Silver = Sgt (Scout Sgt's have a silver stripe over their right shoulder.

Copper= Battle Brother

Keep up the good work.

(Edited to add eye color.)

I think I'll spare you any further requests (from my direction anyhow) and just ask a question instead. What exactly do you use to color these templates? At first a figured MS Paint would be good enough to do the job with those other templates, but that didn't end up so great...so what tools do you find useful/necessary?

P.S.- Is it me or does posting on the B&C come with more and more options every week? :D

Hi guys. First of all I would like to apologise for keeping people waiting, but I can only draw so fast :( . Also, colour scheme requests are fine and all, but I really would like to know more about the backgrounds of your chapters :) .

To The Chaplain. I like your colour scheme, and look forward to reading more background info about your chapter. I hope you like what I

Thanks Scally, the template looks awesome (I actually paint the chest eagles brass, but I can change that on photoshop really easily). You are friggin' amazing, you rock dude!

(BTW, I'll PM you chapter fluff as I write it LOL, glad to know I have a fluff fan)

Okay, since I still can't figure out how to color in a template, I'll need to put in a request.

Background and colorscheme can be found in the Angels of Perdition thread over on the Astartes Vocates forum. In a nuthsell, they are meant to be space angels of death and warrior monks, rather than space knights and paladins. They are the guardians of the purity of mind, both theirs and mankinds. They destroy artifacts, burn books, and shove mind shields into the battle-brothers. After all: "An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded." Only through ignorance and intolerence can minkind remain pure of mind.

Anyhow, if it isn't too much of a problem, could this marine keep the chainsaw bayonet and possibly be in Mk.IV 'Maximus' (prefered) or Mk.VIII 'Errant' armor?

Scally-

I would be much obliged if you could paint up an IA design for my current idea, the Cult of the Bolter and Chainaxe. I think that I have enough here to pique your curiosity, and if need be, I can provide pictures of the sample mini I have.

IA: Cult of the Bolter and Chainsword

Once again, if you get time in your busy schedule to do this, I would be very happy and will owe you one.

I like what i see here..the variation is nice. You think you could do one for my Execrators??

If you could do it from this sketch I did that would be sweet.

The main parts are black, the lighter parts bone, including the helmet, though it has a black skull painted on part of it. The chapter badge is a gold gauntleted fist crushing a planet:

Its the one on the left.

If you can that'd be awesome. If not thats kool too..

Toyship

Alright, I'll add to the workload.

Praetorian Fists

Color scheme: Black, with skull white aquilas and and any skull on their armor being skull white. Both shoulder pads are blood red trimmed in chainmail save the honor guard, which has the right shoulder pad painted Imp. Fist yellow (golden I think). Vents on backpack are also chainmail. Eye lenses are blood red, metal on weapons is also chainmail. IA can be found at the link in my signature.

Thanks.

Could you do Angels Cruentis for me?

http://z8.invisionfree.com/Vocates/index.p...t&p=1412524

It's fairly non-finnished right now, but-

Colours: Crimson Red Armour under White, Hooded Robes, Black Shoulderpads with Crimson Red rims. They are a closecombat-style Chapter (most likely going to have "Take the Fight to Them" as a trait).

Chapter Icon is a Flame on top of "iron wings" (Dark angels stylized wings).

I'll post an image of the flame shortly.(within a day)

There... very rough... Dark Angels Green with Yellow. Though on a painted mini the DA green probably wont be used (since the pads are black)

Apologies to all who had a long wait for me to respond to my PM's. Sorry Guys  .

To Steel Company. Yes it would be possible, and here you go. First of all I had trouble when drawing your chapter's symbol. The Leman Russ was tank of choice for me. I know that Space Marines field Predators and the mighty Land Raider, but whenever somebody says, “Tank” in relation to WH40K I automatically think Leman Russ (also the name “Steel Company” didn't help my train of thought much either). Getting back to the point, I had trouble trying to cross the bolter over the Leman Russ, it just didn't look right. The two shapes seemed to merge into one jagged block. As a compromise I silhouetted both shapes and simply laid one over the other.

To Aurelius Aquillus. I didn't have a great deal of time to spend rendering or experimenting with your base colour. I hope you like my results. If I haven't got it quite right, please do not hesitate to contact me.

As ever, feed back is welcome from everybody  .

Hi there! Captain Varren, reporting for duty!

Firstly, Scally, you're a freaking genius - how on Terra ( ;) ) did you come up with those awesome templates?!? Seriously, I'm in awe!

If you're not too busy, and are interested, could you have a crack at my DIY Chapter, the Swords Of Terra?

I'm currently finalising details for my Index Astartes file, but the colour schemes are as follows (sorry 'bout this - there's a LOT of info coming, since I've no pics to hand!):

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle/Reserve Companies 2-9: More or less a Codex Chapter, the Swords follow the same colour scheme as the Ultramarines (I'm thinking 2nd Ed., so more like THIS, with the white left kneepad with the Chapter badge on it, and less like the current GW studio Ultramarines), so trim is in the standard company colours, chest eagle is yellow-gold, bolter casings are red with silver decals, etc.. The Chapter colour is a kind of whitish-grey, close to the Luna Wolves, as depicted in the Index Astartes article. I'm thinking that the colour you used for the chest eagle on the Steel Battalion marines would be a good fit. As mentioned, the left kneepad is white, with a simplified version of the chapter badge on it (see below). Helmet lenses are grey (medium-dark), while Tactical/Assault/Veteran/Devastator markings are white, albeit with a thick black outline on, to make them show up.

Chapter badge is a plain power sword (not too Dark Angel/Black Templar-y), with a dark grey hilt and a blueish-silver blade, superimposed over a yellow sun (perhaps a warmer shade of yellow/golden yellow, so as to show up better). I imagine the sun being positioned under the blade, not going past the hilt, and with the sword tip ending in the body of the sun. The simplified version on the kneepad is just the sword without the sun, superimposed over the appropriate markings for Sergeant (red 'Iron Skull') and Squad Leader (red 'Iron Halo').

Variations: As with the Ultramarines, Veteran squads have white helmets, trim, chest eagles, etc. As a sign of their status, their bolters have black casings with gold decals. Similarly, Veteran Sergeants of Battle/Reserve Company squads have gold decals on red bolters. Sergeants have red helmets, while Vet. Sergeants have their helmet vents in white. As a side note, the Swords, being a relatively young Chapter, lack many specialist/rare units and equipment types, including suits of Terminator armour - thusly, Veterans are instead given older-style suits of armour as befitting their rank and experience (I plan on using the Mk. III 'Iron' and IV 'Maximus' helmets from the Black Templar Crusader sprue to represent this).

The only deviation from Codex markings is the 5th Company - after their first engagement with the traitor marines of the Black Legion, the Company's senior officers had the men alter their heraldry, with Chapter-coloured bolters w. black trim, black Tactical markings/chest eagles/kneepad markings, thus making the Company's already uncanny resemblance to the former Luna Wolves all the more apparent. This tactic succeeded in catching the traitors off-guard, securing victory for the Swords. In honour of this, the 5th Company has been allowed to keep it's new heraldry, and the Chapter's artisans have presented them with a new standard, displaying a Black Legion helmet impaled on a power sword.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PHEW! Again, sorry for the information, but I hope that gives you enough to work with, especially in the absence of pictures. Feel free to let your own creative juices take hold - I'd love to see what you make of my ideas!

Keep up the awesome work, Brother Scally! This is Captain Varren, signing out...
