Brother Tyler
I have the most fantastic and amazing conversion in mind. In fact, the concept is so stupendously jaw-dropping that you guys should just vote for me now. Of course, I've been known to set my bar a little high, especially considering my ineptitude at actually converting and painting. Also, I'm a notorious procrastinator, so it's likely that I'll wait too long (claiming Real Life as the reason, but really I'll just spend too much time on the B&C and playing Hearts) and end up compromising on something I can get done in two weeks or so. It'll be pretty basic and cliched - nothing new and no impressive painting skills to speak of. So when you see that mini, remember that it was really cool in my mind before I tried to translate it into pewter, plastic, and paint. And vote for me! :teehee: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/113894-the-mods-contest-blog/page/2/#findComment-1311447 Share on other sites
TheDarkApostle
I have the most fantastic and amazing conversion in mind. In fact, the concept is so stupendously jaw-dropping that you guys should just vote for me now. :tu: I second that :teehee: And it really is going to be a awsome conversion, if I manage to pull mine off, though I will most likely ruin it with crappy painting  And most likely make it a rush job in the end and then blame real life (when in truth I do next to night but sleeping and cruising forums :D ) I'm looking forward to see your model Tyler :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/113894-the-mods-contest-blog/page/2/#findComment-1311519 Share on other sites
Captain Chapel
I'm thinking of waiting till the new lord mini comes out before I try anything. Something I've always wanted to to do is convert/paint up a portion of minis for my opponent to use against me during big games, yes, thats right corrupted Silver Skulls. I'm thinking maybe a corrupted Captain Chapel, or maybe Chaplain Visix. The Angelus Sanctus
The Angelus Sanctus Post #2 Design sketches have begun for my entry, although no progress has been made in confirming WHICH one i'm going with. Brother Lorien
Brother Loriens 1st post Allthough i am an avid loyalist player, i'll be joining in this contest aswell and i have a few ideas allready , of which one stands out. I'm thinking of doing a Dark Mechanicus / Chaos techmarine made from a normal loyalist plastic marine. And i'll be making some sketches soon. Brother Nihm
Post #1 :cuss Seeing as quite a few mods will be painting up Night Lords, I will not. :tu: Instead, I've turned my gaze towards the prince of excess. Random thoughts: -it will be an Aspiring Champion of the Emperor's Children, with a modified colour scheme -he will represent one aspect of Slaanesh (wrath) -there will only be minimal sculpting but, with medium to heavy part swapping -basework? hmm, I'll get back to that one later -magnets, yes magnets! These thoughts seems familiar to me.. Edit: Now I know why the thoughts were so familiar, I've had them before, I've even cheated and found this old conversion and that's exactly what I will paint. Picture: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/113894-the-mods-contest-blog/page/2/#findComment-1312125 Share on other sites
SCC
SCC Post #2 I've finished my first NL test mini and badly photographed it. You can find it at Spiky Bitz along with my continued adventures in the Antarctic. The second test mini (silver in place of gold) is coming along and I suspect the contest entry may receive this less in your face version of the NL scheme. We shall see... littlbitz
Littlbitz post #1, Call to Chaos Competition. Ok, so I decided to play... I mean whats one little model gonna hurt? I selected a Khorne champion for this competition. I wanted to stay away from a typical World Eaters type look, so no Rabbit ears for me. Something definately Khorne, but definately different in a Littlbitz style was needed. I decided to go with a Doomsayer, Prophet type look. Or, at least attempt to. I can see this wild looking fella with wild hair and beard loudly proclaiming "Your Doom approaches!! Repent, and slay me in the name of Khorne! For surely if you fail to do so, I shall slay you in his name! Blood for the Blood God!" Here is a list of parts: Emperors Champion body. Old plastic warhammer fantasy Chaos Warrior axe, actually I used 2 to make the axe double sided. Plastic Thunder hammer termie arm. Some Skulls, a Marauder head, a Marauder icon top, a chaos backpack and some green stuff. Here is what I came up with: WIP shot of Khorne Champion another shot. Brother-Librarian Swintha
okays like I said in my prior post I'm doing a word bearer for the contest. after a little thought I wanted to try something a little diffrent so here is my model before priming. I still have to clean up some of the gs work, remove some flash I just noticed and then its on to paint. I had to canibalize my backpack off another mini to explain why it has primer. I really like the Helmet and mutated arm. The backpack gives it some more character which i like a lot. The gs'd robes and paper on the shoulder pads will be good for writing litanies of hate for this Word bearer. I can't wait to see him painted. OwlandMoonGuy
OMG Post #1 As some of you know, my first Call to Chaos is the Death Guard and my mod entry will certainly follow suit. Jokersminis
Joker Post #3OK, Mama and Baby are both home and fine and it's back to modelling!I ordered a couple last minute parts from The Warstore, and am now in full swing for this project.I have put quite a bit of thought into the posing of Curze and decided to step away from the throne for a more animalistic/predatory pose. I built a base of evelated ruins this morning for him to be crouching on and I have started to convert his power armor. I shaved down one of the BT torsos with the high gorget an I plan on GS-casting a NL logo onto it from the NL Hero Model. Hopefully there will be pics to come tonight. OwlandMoonGuy
OMG Post #2 Not much of an update here but I did just get back from Games Day in Chicago and got to look over the new chaos sprues first-hand. There’s nothing to be disappointed in there. They are some of the best sprues for bits fodder I’ve seen. I almost want to hold off building more of my current DG models to incorporate all the great new bits.My army box is now on preorder. I even had a chat with the local black shirt to ensure that we’ll have enough shipped to us locally to fill the demand. I should have my new parts well before the needed due date to heed the call. Now… more on what specifically to build. Here’s my chief inspiration: Here’s a link to Tim Lison’s Plaguemarine gallery on the Miniature-Art web site. Converted Command Squad. The figs are old-school now but you get the idea. That apothecary is especially nice. Maybe that’s my direction… a fallen, Plague marine apothecary. I’m on it.-OMG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/113894-the-mods-contest-blog/page/2/#findComment-1320097 Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
(Brother Tyler's blog, post #2) Masochism at it's most boring We all have our little pet peeves. One of my pet peeves is the speculation born of conspiracy theories. It's not the speculation that bugs me, actually. It's the insistence on the part of the speculator that the conclusion drawn by the speculation is, indeed, correct. The only real hint I'll give you about my planned project is that one might infer from it that I advocate one of the current theories concerning some of those who call themselves Adeptus Astartes (or might have at one time, anyways). Truth be told, I'm not saying anything of the sort. It's just that the imagery of the theory happens to resemble the imagery I'd like to represent. Other than that, I won't tell you anything. "But why?" you ask.Well, it's because I know that if I tell you what I'm doing and/or show you pictures, you gits won't vote for me. And though I fully acknowledge my ineptitude, I still want to win. It's one of those little quirks - I'm somewhat competitive, even if I don't stand a chance. So stop asking. So I finally settled on an idea. I had several ideas percolating in my pointy little skull, all of them pretty cool and way beyond my ability to bring to fruition. One was a Chaos Lord/Possessed with the lower legs of an armoured horse - green stuffed to look as if his own lower legs and armour had been mutated by the stuff of Chaos. Think of Baron Karza and you'll know what I'm envisioning (if you know who I'm talking about, you're either old or you know how to Google). Another idea, inspired by the artwork on the game Minotaur Lords by Reiner Knizia, was a Chaos Lord with the head of a bull. His weapon, naturally, would have been a giant axe. In the end, though, I decided that that idea was better suited to a Lord with Daemonic Stature, so nixed it. A third idea involved a flail with burning skulls on the business end. Some of you might know where that idea came from. I figured that idea wasn't quite chaotic enough, though, and didn't feel like looking around hobby shops for appropriately sized chain. So I settled on The Idea.I made my initial purchase of minis for bits today. I bought one mini for its weapon, and I bought another mini for its weapon (though it won't really represent a weapon on the finished mini). I already have a suitable backpack, and plenty of other bits that should flesh out the rest of the mini. I now have to figure out what bits I'm going to chop up and reassemble into the proper action pose. I'll have to use some green stuff (actually, I have blue stuff and grey stuff - no green stuff) to create appropriate details. That's all for now. Lord Ragnarok
Lord R's Entry post 2 Well, Here's what I've done thus far. It is a simple endeavour. That being said, I have a lot of GS gap filling work to do on the head/horns, the trim on the upper part of the right calf, the gap where the back part of the right arm attaches, the gap where the left arm attaches, and need to add a little to the bottom of the bolter grip where I filed to aggressivley. Also have base work to complete. As stated before, since I'm a novice, it will take me some time. Elijah7
Elijah7 post 17.Spent the last week trying to figure out how Joker made the big "J" in his posts. Erased 15 other posts 'cause they made very litte sense. Something about training a cat, a squirrel, and a turtle as my Lupercal to take down the other mods. I think this whole chaos thing is starting to affect me mentally.Explains a lot about the chaos mods.Found my Chaos bitz box in the basement, where it has evidently been used as a repository for marbles for my child.
