My Land Raider Variants (PV?)

Some more progress on the Shrine of Aquila Land Raider:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110327_33.jpg

This front angle shot shows the extra side armour I have gone with. I am trying to make it a bit like a phoenix, the imperial eagle rising from the flames. I just need to complete the other side armour now (and the sides will then be complete).

This front on shot shows the door placement - rather than 1 ramp, the terminators can leave via either door. To finish off the front, I plan on making flames around and underneath the eagle's head and on the inside of the track out of plasticard and adding some rivets around the top of the eagle's wing (the white plasticard).

A plan view. I can imagine the space marines using the imperial eagle as a battering ram, before disgorging all of the terminators that were protected within to ram (sorry about the pun!) home their advantage. What side sponson weapons do you think this land raider should have?

I need to add some engine fan/grill at the bottom (where the white plasticard is) to finish the top.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110327_34.jpg

Finally, the rear view. I need to use some more milliput to smooth out the joints. I also plan to build a grill/vent in the large section at the top (can be seen underneath the heavy bolter turret). 3 or 4 more hours and this tank should be finished.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

Finally finished my Imperial Eagle Ram!

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/April_40.jpg

Flame effects finished and Hexagonal bolts fitted (to blend in with the sculpted bolts on the Shrine of Aquila)

The back has been finished.

I realised that I didn't take a final shot of the back end of my Hellound variant with dials, levers and hose connectors:

This shot shows the hellhound without its Promethium tank. To continue with the skulls, I thought I would use this as a fuel pipe holder:

With regards to an earlier question from Tathion, Here are a couple of shots of my 9 "Uglies":

As I have a week off work this week, I am making progress on my next ugly, A Land Raider with Thunder fire sponsons. I'll take some pictures tomorrow to show the progress being made.

Any comments?

Onto the next Land Raider: A Thunderfire cannon sponsons, Heavy artillery affair.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_6.jpg

This shows the Imperial Eagle on each Land Raider track with my now preferred wrap around (WW1) style.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_7.jpg

The almost complete Thunderfire Cannon sponsons. Mandatory skulls and flames as per usual. Just need to attach them to the Land Raider Track parts. I plan on using the resin front armour parts from the Prometheus to give the tank more sensors. This will deprive me of the front turret, but I think this will make the tank look better. I'm waiting on new plasticard to arrive before I can finish the rest of the Land Raider off.

Managed to find a bit of plasticard and get my Thunderfire Land Raider almost finished:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_14.jpg

As with my previous post, I have gone with lots of extra sensors that I feel would help to ensure 100% accuracy when firing those bad boys!! I went all boring in the front - no extra flames, skulls etc!!!!!

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_41.jpg

I decided to stop adding to the top of the Land Raider (less is more?!?). I'm really happy with the vents on this one. I just need to add a small box to the 2 pipes going into the exhaust system.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_18.jpg

I think the flames worked out well flowing over the skull. I think this will look really cool whenever I get around to painting it!

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_19.jpg

Obligatory shot of the back end. Usual Adeptus Mechanicus logo on the exhausts.

To finish off this Land Raider, two small tasks: 1) build box around 2 pipes on vents and 2) pin sensor on top of left sponson. I used glue, but the damned thing broke off!

Just a taster of the new Assault Land Raider I'm moving on to next. I'm swopping the front/back around - this picture shows the front. I'm using Machinator248's tank tracks for this. They are really sharp and I can see them tearing through the enemies of the Emperor. I'm thinking of arming it with a Crusader layout, hurricane bolters and assault cannons. What do you think?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_21.jpg

Here's a shot of the rear. I want the back to look like a WW1 tank, lots of vents etc.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_44.jpg

Something else I'm working on. These skull tank treads will need to be moulded and repeatedly filled with milliput. There are 56 treads required, so I will need to fill the mould 20 times before I get enough to make the wrap around tracks I want on a future tank. I know I can make more moulds, but each time I make a further copy, the mould/copy deteriates and I would like the tracks to look as crisp as possible.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110408_45.jpg

Here's an example of what it will look like.

Today's updates:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000883.jpg

The Crux Terminator badge comes from Forgeworld. I can just imagine this Land Raider rolling through the Emperor's enemies ranks and the ramp crashing down and disgorging the Assault Terminators to smite the xenos scum!

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000895.jpg

The inside of the ramp can be seen in this shot. I need to finish the top off with rivets and decide what to go behind the top hatches but before the exhausts.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000885.jpg

Shot shows the Land Raider armed with twin inferno cannon. I'm unsure which is the best weapon payload for this Close Assault vehicle. Any suggestions? I'm also unsure what to do on the sides of the vehicle. I'm toying with the WW1 style sponsons again. I have 2 more identical Crux Terminatus FW that I could put on the sides to replace the side hatches. Your thoughts?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000888.jpg

Rear shot. Normal exhausts turned 180 degrees with the Adeptus Mechanicus logo on top.

where'd you get the spikey treads from? what link?

They are from Blood and Skulls Industry. Got them from Machinator248 (Tom) on ebay. They are called Opressor Pattern 0. The resin is really crisp and good value. Mods remove if I have breached any rule.

Have a look at Machinators Fellblades on Dakka Dakka if you really want motivation on being a tread head. His creations are masterpieces!

My next investment is in the Opressor Pattern 1.0. They are for a baneblade but imagine those wrapped around a Land Raider!!!!!

Small amount of progress:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000909.jpg

I have decided that my Heavy Assault Land Raider would look cool with Twin Vulcan Mega Bolter sponsons and Twin Inferno Cannon Turret. Whether this should be the correct armament I'm not sure. Any comments?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000906.jpg

Side profile showing Crux Terminatus emblem on the side hatches. Just a couple of small things like adding rivets and some some small embelishes on top and the tank will be finished. I'm just waiting for an order from Titchytraingroup for rivets to arrive.

To my next project:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000911.jpg

I've started to build my Hellcannon. I was planning on fitting this on to my Shadowsword hybrid, but I'm thinking of creating another one more suited for larger barrels. This will then take:

1) Hellcannon

2) Titan Plasma Cannon

3) Double Shadowsword cannon

4) Triple Shadowsword cannon

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/P1000912.jpg

A close up of the muzzle. Though not very practical, the skulls in the barrel look cool!

Other ideas:

Land Raider Helios: Armed with Hyperios missiles on the top with Hyperios/Helios/Whirlwind sponsons

Land Raider Minotaur: Armed with 1 Basilisk/2 Basilisks Earthshaker Cannon/s

Land Raider Medusa: Medusa Siege Gun

Back to building my Hellcannon!

Regards Brother Morgan.
