A quick update on the Grim Reaper LR Extra Armour:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_281.jpg

This shows both sides built for the LR. The top one is completed.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_283.jpg

Extra flames have been added at the bottom to give more of a 3D impression and at the bottom of the right arm.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_282.jpg

Here's the almost finished left hand side Grim Reaper. To finish, I need to put more flames along the bottom and sculpt the wood on the handle of the scyth. I am quite happy with how this has turned out. The two Grim Reapers are not identical, but should look similar when painted.

Another update on a Twin Frag Cannon Turret I've almost finished:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_279.jpg

I'm not sure about adding the top turret armour. What do you think?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_280.jpg

I had to sculpt the spent round ejection port out of milliput. I may add some small scopes around the white plasticard like you see on normal turrets - maybe later!

This is something I made on holidays last week after the wife and children went to bed:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_277.jpg

I've tried to make the skull look like it's made up of flames. I want to make smaller versions of this to add onto the side armour over the rear doors.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110801_278.jpg

I've tried to make it 3D with raised bits. I think this will look cool when I eventually get around to painting it!!!

As usual, any questions, drop me a line.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

Today's update:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110805_149.jpg

Grim Reaper extra side armour now completed.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110805_151.jpg

WIP shot of Flaming Skulls extra side armour.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110805_152.jpg

The finished article. I decided to make the flames more 3D like and sculpted them out of milliput. I have started the second one (Skulls are stuck), just need to cut out the flames out of plasticard and then mould more flames out of milliput. This will hopefully be finished within 2 days.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110805_153.jpg

These Manticore Storm Rockets are going to be made into sponsons. I have just completed paying for the third and final set to allow a Rocket mounted on top also. This will be the next project I will be moving onto.

As previously, any questions, just ask.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

Before I complete another update, in answer to Spacefrisian's question, I have just bought some GW paints - just plucking up the courage to hopefully give my conversions a decent paint job that they deserve.

Any hints and tips on painting realistic flames would be appreciated.

Here's the next project:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110814_9.jpg

Here's the tracks that I've made for this Land Raider. It's taken ages to file the milliput to get a sharp a point as possible on the tracks!

Another Update on The "Grim Reaper".

I have decided to make this into an Achilles (FW's Hull mounted Thunderfire Cannon and Twin Multi Melta Sponsons).

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110829_3.jpg

Here's the almost finished front view. I have tried to be as close to the photo's I have seen of FW's Achilles. The special front armour was created from the normal Land Raider front ramp, but cut to fit. The other part of the door was made from regular plasticard. I have added Grim Reapers to the Front Track Armour and sculpted flames from both plasticard and milliput for extra 3D effect. Just need to add some milliput to smooth the sensor into it's surroundings and to add a few rivets to finish this view off.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110829_4.jpg

This is the plan view. I really am struggling with this. I don't know what to do here. I really don't like lots of smooth straight areas on my tanks. I have resisted the urge to sculpt flames all over (there is something called over kill!!!!). Does anyone have any ideas about this?

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110829_5.jpg

Here's a shot of the side view. I don't know if this will be the final version of this sponson or I may need to make a new one.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20110829_6.jpg

Finally, the completed rear view (apart from adding rivets to rear part of track armour). Obligatory Mechanicus logo on the exhausts. I have added some extra fans underneath to extract all the fumes after the Thunderfire Cannon fires. You can also see that I have alternated the mini Grim Reapers on the tracks - both sides are one out as though I like symmetry, I don't think you would see them going around at the same time on on both tracks.

I am starting to get bored with this one and really want to get on to the next one - A Hedgehog Land Raider (multiple Manticore missiles on top and sponsons.

Any questions, fire away!

Regards, Brother Morgan.

please tell me you have some of those track patterns molded and cast???

No unfortunately! Just takes a lot of time and patience to complete.

Still any suggestions for the look of the top?

Brother Morgan.

I'll tell you honestly mate, I am absolutely in love with some of the track designs you have, and my heart bleeds when you said you do not have any molds for them.

I can see where you are going with the general idea. I like the front, to me its done and can stay as is, may be add rivets.

the back shot, same thing.

But not a fan with the sides, and I'll try my best to explain why. The idea with the reapers is great, but they are not scaled to the mini, and just look silly right now, partly because the overall surface is very pain. The flame job is ot helping yet. you need to ad more detail to them, and not more skullz ( I get it, you are a Khrone follower) but more in line with technological detailing. armor plates coming together and rivets. and keep the flame as icing. The Raider is like a canvas to the reapers, and they need a frame. So just take a look at the raider model, see what elements could be useful.

Hopefully my thought will be useful to you.

I'm a definite fan of your work, even though raider covered in skulls was the most ridiculous think i ever saw in my life, I love how it came together on the hell cannon. Because that element was Icing, not corn syrup that just drowned the whole thing, i had elegance to it, and that's why it worked.

again, my heart grieves that the tracks are not cast. Maybe you'd look into that option???

cant wait to see more updates brother!

Thank You Brother Melice for your comments.

I understand your comments and agree with them to a certain extent. The skull Land Raider was an experiment which won't be replicated! It took me weeks to complete and I don't have enough spare time to do it again!

With regards to the Grim Reaper side armour, this was made before the rest of the Land Raider and I agree that they are the wrong scale compared to the other 3 Grim Reapers, but I cannot keep on buying LR parts forever and as it was turning into a Grim Reaper themed tank, I thought what the heck!!

I think I will try and copy as much as I can from the top of an existing LR to finish of this tank.

Any other ideas/comments, just ask.

Regards, Brother Morgan. :D

Apologies for no recent updates. I'm currently renovating my house and after seeing the invoice from the builder am attempting to do as much as I can myself!

Used a chipping hammer yesterday to remove the plaster and black mortar in one room and apart from looking like a coal miner by the end of it, I am finding it difficult to hold anything from all the vibrations!! Only 1 more room to do today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have spent previous weeks removing paint off of old metal space marine models with Fairy power spray and ensuring all mould lines have been removed. I now have about 5kgs of space marines to undercoat and paint when 1) the weather improves and 2) when I feel like painting again.

Post pics as usual in the future.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

do you know what would be pretty sick?

drill out the point end of the sword and turn it into a giant gun barrel

Maybe next time DIDM!!

Still haven't finished the Ares yet. Little projects keep appearing in my brain and side track me (see my Honoured Imperium thread on this site!) and these little beauties below:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_32.jpg

I had the idea to create enemy combatants being squished by one of my Land Raiders!

So far I have a:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_27.jpg Necron

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_30.jpg Gaunt

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_26.jpg Eldar

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_31.jpg Imperial Guard

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_28.jpg Ork

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_25.jpg Tau

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111002_29.jpg Dark Eldar

I really like the Tau and the Gaunt. The white bits of plasticard are meant to represent a blood/gore/oil pool depending on which enemy is being splattered. I did the pools without testing them against the Land Raider, so I may need to make the pools larger in the future to go under the armour next to the track.

To finish these off, I need to find a shouting Ork Head and Scything Talons for the Gaunt. If anybody would like to donate these parts (PM me), I would be very grateful!! I have parts for a Chaos SM and will make this shortly.

Critiques/comments are welcome as usual.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

well I could give you an ork head, I have plenty, but considering i live on the other side of the ocean it's probably cheaper (and more Eco-friendly) to just bought one from a bitz box.

It should be like 10c in any game shop, no?

Amazing job by the way!

Another timely update!

Here are some shots of my 95% completed Grim Reaper Achilles:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111229_54.jpg

Look out Heretic scum!!!! I'm really happy with how this turned out.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111229_50.jpg

This is what I decided to do with the top plan view. I put extra scopes at the front to assist the Thunderfire Cannon.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111229_52.jpg

Another plan shot. I raised the rear hatch to allow the periscopes to be seen over the front scope.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111229_53.jpg

I decided to increase the fire power in the side sponson from Twin Multi Melta, to Quad Multi Melta's. I used the Storm Raven Multi Meltas in the nose for weapons. I need to pin the sensor on to complete this sponson. I have 2 more Multi Meltas on order from America which I'll use to complete the second sponson.

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff118/philmorgan75/20111229_51.jpg

Whilst I'm waiting for the parts, I'm now going to start my next Land Raider version called the "Hades" variant. This will be done on another thread as I plan on making a detailed step by step tutorial with lots of photos to show how I created and built it.

As usual, any critiques would be welcomed.

Regards, Brother Morgan.
