Plague marines á la Animerik

Great to see you're back Animerik, the painted Plague Marine Squads look great, and the new one's you're constructing look fantastic - especially the Champ, which I'm especially amazed by with the quality of the sculpting! :) :D

++UPDATE 12/2++

Well not that big update I'm afraid... Did not get to much done during the week so I only got two WIPs to show

First up is the DP, an old conversion that is receiving some new love. Especially work has been focused on the back/jumppack. I was never that fond of wings for DPs so I went with a beefed up backpack to represent flying.

Not so much done yet but the basic shape is there, now some fleshy, mechy and techy parts to do.

Next up is a plague hulk/defiler/soulgrinder. I wanted to make a mini that could represent either of these minis (as they very similar to begin with...). The mini is in very heavy wip so don't worry to much if something looks a bit off.

And the weapons for this beast, also in early stages of construction http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab85/gspirate/DSC03209.jpg

Cheers and thanks for looking

++UPDATE 18/2++

So after a week mostly devoted to studies and training I have at last some progress on the minis to show. The 7th PM Aspiring champion is finished. I know that the paintjob is a bit different from the other marines but I wanted to try out some different techniques on this one. I'm pretty happy with the results

And then I rebased a old fantasy spawn that I did a few years ago. I liked the conversion and paintjob so I thought that just slapping him on a new base would do the trick

And some more work on the plague hulk, I like where it is going but it is still in heavy wip

Cheers and thanks for looking

Hi Animerik.I hope you don't mind,but i have added you to my friends list so i can follow your progress.All aspects of your work are just utterly fantastic.I'm painting a Nurgle CSM army at the moment and while mine is nowhere as good as yours,your work is excellent inspiration for me to pick up my paint brush more often.

and..... UPDATE!

It has been forever and I feel like getting back into the death guard stuff again. However it has to wait until after the summer. Here is some pics on a DG mini I did for a online painting comp (I failed to enter in time as nurgle 'blessed' me with a bacteria infection in the lungs.....)

I am envious of your skill. I *LOVE* that mini with the scythe. The Angel of Death indeed.

Your sculpting work on the plague hulk is also amazing. Did you use something as a base or is that 100% green stuff?

Bravo, good sir. You may have just swayed me into doing death guard in the future....

where to start??? first of all i cant beleive i missed this army , you are truly awe inspiring .the greenwork is awesome and the paintwork and colours used are nothing short of stunning .glad to see your back and looking forward to more .

oh and those oblits are just awesome any plans for more :P

  • 3 weeks later...

Been staying away from the hobby and forums, trying to end my chronic unemployment... But I still have alerts set up. It just takes me a while to come by and see what people are up to.

Talk of sixth edition and a new Chaos Legion Codex is of come interest I guess. I paint so slow I'm still working on models I bought for second edition.

Those wings are from MicroArts but you attached them to a GW backpack right? I have a lot of ideas but I'm just not efficient at painting and it has gotten damn hot. My proposed 1500 point list for Astro isn't finished, but I won't be appearing anyway. Got five models to finish that are mostly done and then just four more... I gotta try to pick up the brushes tonight.

I recognize your miniature display case. Ikea right? I got a couple of them and need one more. It is too bad they aren't air tight as dust gets in them...

Keep up the good work.

As I'm in a painting frenzy these days I finished up another squad, nothing fance just the same standard as the others but it was real fun to go back and just paint PMs.

The pics are a bit washed out (the orange fades are gone..) but I guess you get the idea.

And the full force so far:
